  1. For us, the proximity to other tables is a much higher priority than the waitstaff or the view. We are quite introverted, and those two tops so close together have proven to be a nightmare for us! We've tried requesting a private, or secluded, table for 2, but found that we would still be seated at those crowded-together tables. Now, we scope out the YTD room on embarkation day and note the table numbers of a few tables that would be preferable to us. When we check in for dinner, we then request one of those specific tables. We prefer to eat when YTD first opens, so we've always been able to get a table we requested.

That's a great tip! When DH and I cruise by ourselves we like YTD but hate the tables so close together. We don't mind waiting for a table/booth, we will have a drink and chill. I understand they need to maximize the available space, but would rather be able to enjoy each others company without feeling like we are eating with strangers.

    Happy cruising!

  2. Where will it show up in the cruise docs? Is that something I will be able to see even if I booked through a TA?

I'm curious to know the answer as well. We received an email from Guest Admin yesterday stating the credit has been applied, but I don't see it on my billing page. We are first time stock holders, I just assume it's there and I just don't know where to check. Thanks for the info!

  3. How does this work? Do you use the points to get $ off a card, or do you earn enough points to actually get a card?

You use your points to get 10% off the card, you pay $90 for a $100 gift card or $450 for a $500 card. Took me a few times, but I finally snagged some for our trip later this year. Keep trying, good luck!!

  4. American Express is currently running a promotion as well. Spend $500 on Carnival (and various lines) and get $100 statement credit. My DH and I each have a card with different users, we were able to use this offer X2!

Between AmEx and AARP we were able to save $250 off our balance this week.

  5. Just got mine. $500 are sold out, but $100 were still available.

For all you AmEx card holders out there, don't forget they have a benefit offer as well running right now. $500 towards your booking will get you $100 statement credit. Between AmEx and AARP, just saved $250!! WOOHOO!!!

  6. Let me know how you figure that out

I got the second credit this morning by following the info from Drazil65. Thanks Drazil65!!

You need to sign into each card account number (create an account page for each card number) and go to offers. Then add the offers you want to that card. Even though your spouse is authorized user you will need to create a separate account page to add the offer.

  7. I have added the offer to my AMEX everyday blue card and DH's card (same account but he has separate card with separate card number) so that I can make 2 payments (one $500 pymt with each card). Will only pay $800 for $1,000 worth of pymt to CCL.

My DH and I are set up the same, one account two separate cards. I can't seem to figure out how to add the offer to each card number. Would you mind telling me how you were able to do this? Worked instantly for his card, happy dance! Thanks in advance.

  8. The Liberty/Valor switch impacted a lot of people. We were on the last sailing of Valor out of Port Canaveral before her reposition to Galveston. Our 4 day was cut down to a 3 day....:( We obviously weren't happy to lose a day on what was a short cruise to begin with, but we opted to take the cruise instead of cancel. It seems people unwillingly get caught in these switches sometimes and get a curveball thrown at them.

I would suggest you continue to contact your TA since it is their job to advocate for you.

The GOOD news is that Valor is a great ship and you will have a fantastic time on your cruise. I hope you are able to get your cabin changed to what you feel is a more desirable location. If you can't, I hope you are able to look forward to, and enjoy your time on Valor.

  9. I'm on the same Valor cruise. Sure, it's disappointing, but Carnival is trying to make it right by offering some compensation for the change. We are still going and accept the 25% off cruise rate and $25 per person onboard credit. They are also going to reimburse up to $200 per person for flight changes. Carnival is also offering full refunds for passengers who want to use that option.

We choose to make lemonade from the lemon we were handed. I hope after your initial disappoint fades you will be able to look forward to your vacation. We are going to cram as much fun into the the we have on the ship.

  10. I am also VERY disappointed. We also booked an aft balcony for the sea day. Oh well. Carnival is compensating for the loss, but it's still a disappointment. I hate losing a day of cruising, especially with it being a short cruise to begin with. My parents are going on this cruise. It will be their first Christmas/Holiday cruise, and their first ever balcony. They will be celebrating their 58th wedding anniversary on this cruise. We will definitely make the most of it, but it wasn't a great way to wake up this am. And please don't flame me. I understand there are much worse problems. This past year has been a tough one with severe medical problems within the family, and the unexpected, untimely loss of my brother last month. So we will make the lemonade, but really wish we didn't have to :(.

CruizCuz ~ I think our disappointment is legitimate. We have decided to still go and squeeze in all the fun we can. I hope you and your parents will be able to do the same and make the most of that awesome anniversary....58years, congrats to them!! I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your brother and the other problems your family has faced. Hopefully this quick get-away can offer a little stress relief. Happy sailing.

  11. Just received an email stating our 4 day beginning on 12/11 aboard the Valor to The Bahamas will be shortened to a 3 day due to repositioning. :(

Initial reaction was disappointment but I'm trying to stay positive. Carnival is offering 25% refund of fare and $25 onboard credit per person, plus airfare reimbursement for changes. I believe this is all fair compensation. My biggest disappointment is I secretly upgraded to an aft balcony so we could try one out and now we don't have a sea day. I guess I need to drop that in the bucket of first world problems.

Off to tell the hubby about the change in plans. I hope everyone scheduled on this cruise can make some lemonade out of the lemon dropped in our InBox this morning.

    Have a great day everyone!

  12. Thanks for all the opinions and replies. Hubby thinks I booked an oceanview cabin this time around (told him I booked with a tight budget in mind, he's laid back and let's me make the arrangements which works for me!). So, I've been keeping the secret and got nervous since I veered off our normal course. I'm sticking with the aft and we'll see what we think. What's the worst that can happen?! We are going to get back on a Carnival ship!! :D:D:D
