  1. Hello, we depart on our first ever cruise next month on the Marella Celebration and wondered if anyone could advise on ease of access from the port berths to the city centres. We've not yet booked excursions so any advise would be great. We will berth at the following ports;

    Lisbon

    Portimao

    Cadiz

    Casablanca

    Gibraltar

    Best Regards,

What date? I ask as I started a roll call for the April 8th sailing and haven't had a single response..I just don't think Brits even look at the roll call section!

When we cruise with US lines the roll calls are absolutely buzzing!

Such a shame as you can learn a lot and make new friends.

  2. Hi guys,

We are black card members and just got off Divina.

We got 2 invitations for 2 people, so we chose to go to the speciality restaurant once and take 2 friends who are both NOT black card holders. We had zero problems.

  3. We did a taxi tour of Bar Harbor in 2014 that was prebooked. The guide talked with both hands, while driving up the mountain with a cliff to the right down to the ocean! I can see where the rule might not be a bad idea.

Did they offer you a discount? It seems as though you providing a rental car or sharing a tour would be priced differently.

    Alas no discount 😠

Due to the timing etc we are reluctantly taking the sharing tour as we feel we have little choice.

We can totally understand the fact that driver guides can be distracted - in Rome they have drivers and guides and never the twain shall meet - but the timing of the announcement makes us suspicious.

Call me a cynic, but i see too many people wanting an excursion and this company thinking, you know what, we can stick them all together and get a lot more $$$ for it.

    Thanks for your reply. 😊

  4. Hi all,

We have an excursion booked in St John for October 17th i.e. 12 days from now..The tour company has just emailed us this :

I regret to announcethe City of St. John has suddenly and without warning changed their policyregarding tour guides and the transportation they use to deliver tours.Unfortunately, this will affect the way your upcoming tour is delivered – notin the content, but in the transportation arrangement. In short, Mike will notbe able to drive while he provides your tour.

They have offered us a couple of not very satisfactory options / solutions. One of which is a member of our party drives a rental vehicle, the other is a shared van with strangers.

We booked a private guide for the 5 of us, and paid a lot of money for it.

I am not saying their is anything untoward here, but call me suspicious, I find it difficult to believe the city has done this with immediate effect and no prior warning.

Any locals out there hearing anything?

  5. Hey everyone, looking for some advice.

Was mis sold the cruise (breakaway) through virgin holidays. Told that there was only 1 paid restaurant and everything else was free. (Spa etc)

Now looking to upgrade but ncl won't discuss it with me and Virgin tell me that the price to upgrade to a mini suite is £2k, spa suite £2.8k and Haven £3k.

The odd thing is my room cost £859 each so £1.7k and if i go to NCL and pretend i am a new customer, the spa suite is 1,169pp so £310 more than what we paid, so an upgrade should surely be £620 total, yet i'm quoted £2,000. Virgin agreed it was high but said they call NCL and it's their pricing.

Spoke to NCL and i get some asian customer service who haven't even heard of the bidding system, so no idea if i am included in that! 68 days to sail date.

    Any advice!

Why do we have an epidemic in this country of people being mis-sold.

    Get a grip!

  6. NCL are doing their very best to upset us.

We have our eye on a cruise out of NYC in October, but it is up against Princess, same day and almost the same itinerary.

The NCL cruise has shot up in price since the introduction of the Premium All inclusive ( additional benefit to us was paid for DSC, that is all, cost increase has more than doubled DSC charge ) and this has basically forced our hand, we most likely will stick to Princess this time, maybe permanently.

Platinum on NCL, used to love them, but there are other lines out there and we have tried several. No reason to go back to NCL for us really.

  7. Sorry, I didn't realize you would not be in port until 2PM.

It would not be worth it for you to go to De Palm Island. :(

Hi, as you know we are on your sailing in Jan... tell me more about De Palm Island please..how do we get there from the dock? I assume taxi?

Also, their website says cruise passengers must purchase their passes from the cruiseline itself.. i dont like the sound of that !

  8. I arranged a great private tour for six persons.

    PONTA DELGADA, AZORES

The Azores are a part of Portugal and about a 1000 miles from the mainland. We had visited the same port last year. The island is very scenic and green. Previously, we had done the Furnas Lake and Hot Springs tour which covered the middle of the island. This time, we booked the Sete Cidades tour of the West side of the island.

Total cost for six persons was 180 Euros or 30 Euros per person.

    HALF DAY SETE CIDADES:
