  1. We have a 15 day cruise out of San Diego going to Hawaii (Feb. 2021) that we have not had cancelled yet.  Even if it wasn't cancelled by Carnival, the State of Hawaii still has restrictions in place for Covid-19.

I called Carnival today to inquire and was told it is likely going to be cancelled.  They helped me re-book for Feb 2023 with a very minimal deposit so that I can transfer our credit later.

  2. We did XUNANTUNICH MAYAN RUINS WITH LUNCH through Carnival. We enjoyed it but it was a long bus ride to get to the site. It was very interesting seeing their country and it is very 3rd world. I don't think I would recommend renting a car and driving their your self.

We did the same tour and really enjoyed it. Just walking around the port of Belize is NOT an option.

  3. I locked into some cards today too but found them before I logged onto Cruise Critic.

The cards were available for longer than I've seen before. I got enough to pay off our next cruise and to pay for our on-board expenses too. I scored 2, $500 cards and 5, $100 cards. This is the best I've got in a very long time.

I've noticed the Carnival cards sell out real fast whereas the Royal Carib cards can be available for several days. Is that because more Royal cards are available or more Carnival customers are more aggressive?

  4. We were just in an aft extended balcony and the noise from below was enough that we had to wear ear-plugs to sleep. We had to turn up the volume on the TV to hear it before we went to bed. The worst night by far was the late night party the night before departing. It went until 2 AM.

We favor aft extended balconies, so on our next cruise we made sure to get rooms above and below us.

    Edit: We were in 6436.

  5. We just returned from our first Journeys cruise and do have another one booked for next year to the Panama Canal. Using Carnivals website, it is very difficult to navigate to find other Journeys options. Perhaps I haven't found a good way.

Is there a listing of Journey's cruises or a way to find them separate from other listings? Thanks in advance.

P.S. Any insight on the planning of future Journeys Cruises? :)

  6. We are booked on the Carnival Pride for Feb. 2017. The itinerary was changed from Colon port to a partial transit in the canal.

Can anyone tell me if there are any excursions to go ashore while in the lake?

For those that have gone on such before, what is offered at this time? Perhaps an on-board speaker? Thanks in advance.

  7. We also went to Xunantunich on a tour via Carnival. We are very glad we did it this way. We were late getting back and the ship was waiting for us and one other group. It was a very good tour even though it was a long day. We would recommend it.

Take extra bottled water from the ship and snacks.

  8. Where do you find your samples at? We went on a Carnival cruise about 6 years ago. I don't recall every seeing samples unless I overlooked them.

They are placed in a tray or bowl in the restroom on the vanity. Several people have said they did not get any samples. We must be lucky in that we have got some pretty good ones over the years. We have never had a Carnival cruise without samples.

Last year we had Gold Bond lotion, a full size 3 oz. bottle of Bull Frog sunblock, Breathe Right strips, toothpaste, Alka-Seltzer, plus some other items I don't remember.

  9. There are lots of threads about what the free samples have been.

Have any of the freebies won you over?

For me: It was the Schick Hydro 5 free razors I've now been using for 4 years now. Gave up the electric for these.

For my wife: She now uses the Arm & Hammer tooth paste.

We both now use the Breathe Right nasal strips. :D

  10. Well, I guess I can answer one of my own questions. I just found they start seating the transfers at 10 AM.

Would we need to stay at the airport hotel or could we come back to the transfers the morning of our cruise?

I would think we could get a taxi to the baggage pick-up area on that morning of the shuttle. Perhaps we could arrive and drop off a rental car and then go to the baggage area. Don't know how far of a walk that would be with luggage.

Any commentary would be helpful. Thanks.

  11. We are in the planning stages of a cruise out of Galv. We've read many threads about options (and frustrations) for transportation from IAH to the port.

We are considering staying at the airport hotel or a near one and using Carnival's shuttle the day of the cruise. We always arrive a day or 2 ahead due to winter weather in the upper Midwest.

What is the earliest time shuttles can be taken from IAH to Galv? Do they wait for a full bus to be filled before leaving; I assume?

If we stay at or near the airport, are there any stores for last minute drinks to take with us?

    Thanks in advance.

  12. I know some people like the stuff in the dispensers and others don't, but this isn't that question. I looked in some (recent) past threads and didn't find this answer.

Anyone know what the brand name of the shampoo and body wash is?

Is there some place it can be purchased or ordered on-line?

(Perhaps I will need to bring a little bit home. ;))

    Thanks in advance.

  13. You, mum2bradley, and I were all scammed by PR port security. They took my leathermans tool as well! I was pi$$ed! Took that thing close to 300,000 miles with me including to Iraq - twice. Bottom line is I am still proud of my service and some crooked Peurto Rican security guard has to live with his reflection in the mirror every day!

I lost my tiny multi-tool in San J also. It made my trip very difficult since it was for assistance with my medicine bottles. It even had a label on it from my prescription manufacturer. Said I couldn't get it back either. They were bantering back and forth as I walked away as to which one of them gets to keep it.

  14. Fully agree with the other comments about using Carnival for longer day-trips here. We booked thru Carnival for a tour of Panama City as well as the workings of the canal. We were a little over 2 hours late and were the 2nd to last bus to return. The last bus was right behind us.

The ship started to loosen the ropes just as the last person boarded. The crew were running faster than pier runners.:)
