  1. we are veteran cruisers on other lines and our last NCL was our first cruise over 20 years ago so it has totally changed since the last time we sailed with them. I have a couple of questions. We are looking at going on the Epic in April.

    1. We are looking at booking a spa mini suite or possibly family mini suite since we will have our gd with us. Do we get any perks or benefits with a mini suite, like priority boarding?

    2. How is the kids club? My gd will be 7 and loved the kids clubs on the other ships she has been on.

    Thanks

  2. We are heading to St Marteen next week on Disney and there isn't anything that is jumping out at us is there shopping at the port? Or close by? We have been there a couple of times but I don't remember because we always did a tour. Thanks

  3. My DH and I are considering an Alaskan cruise next year. We have been on the Legend and Love the aft vista suites. We always do a suite but we know Alaskan cruises are different than Caribbean cruises so are aft suites good for Alaskan cruises or will we see more with a normal side view balcony suite? TIA

  4. Carnival will refund all of your money minus what you paid for the deposit. That has always been my experience. Sorry to hear about your grandmother. :(

Don't wait until the day of the cruise. The only refund you'll get that day is the port fees.

We just went through this a month ago with my mother in law. If you cancel now you will only get your excursions refunded, port fees, and taxes. Your cruise will not be refunded at all unless you have insurance. We had the insurance so we submitted a claim and are waiting for a response. The only things they refunded for us right away was Port fees, taxes, we bought the Cheers program, and our excursions. We are also dealing with the fact that we paid for our excursions with a gift card and they are reviewing the process and trying to figure out how to refund that back to us.

I am very sorry you are going through this. Good luck

  5. We also went out of Galveston in May and we waited until the 2nd day to purchase it. They prorated it because of the Texas law. We think it is worth it just simply because we will try new things and not worry if we don't like it. I also like the sweet frozen drinks but then I like wine at dinner. We don't come close to our limit but for us it is worth it especially now that they have added bottled water and coffees. Shots are included in the package too. Have fun.

  6. Hi we were on the Splendor a few years ago right before the fire. We are considering g going on her again in January. I know it did a dry dock in the Spring but I can't seem to find what exactly was done. I even asked John Heald and he didn't answer. Can anyone who has been on it since it has completed the 2.0 upgrades let me know what it has now. TIA

  7. FTTF is worth it, even if you are in a suite. We had it the last three cruises and we're always in an aftwrap suite. You get access to your room immediately, priority delivery of your luggage, and priority access to Guest Services, all of which are valuable on a non-tender cruise.

I agree, we always get a suite, and we try to get fttf too. We like the fttf for the early entry to the room and the luggage coming quicker. Wish the suite perks were better but they aren't so we think fttf is money well spent.

  8. Hello fellow cruisers,

    Quick questions:

    1) Does the room/bathroom get stocked with shampoo/conditioner or should we bring our own?

    2) Pool towels - is it advisable to bring our own or are there sufficient available on decks?

    3) Pillow - do people bring their own special/favorite pillow or is that just weird (ya, I know the cabins have pillows :) )

    4) Is there a way (like an app or something) that allows you to communicate with family while on board? Texting? something?

    Thanks!

We just got off the Breeze a little over a week ago.

    1. Shampoo and soap will be in a dispenser in the shower, but a lot of people don't like it. There is no conditioner. I usually bring my own shampoo and conditioner. I also bring a travel size shower gel. My hubby uses Carnival stuff and doesn't have any issues with it.

    2. In 12 cruises we have never brought towels and they have always had enough. They will have them in your room.

    3. Pillows are very personal but I absolutely Love their pillows. To me they are very comfortable and full sized.

    4. There is the Carnival Hub app and it is great. It shows everything going on the ship. If you pay $5 you can text people you are with on the ship to find out where they are and what they are doing. It works great.

    Enjoy your trip

  9. It looks like my cruise on May 8th on the Breeze may be the 1st one out of Galveston. It looks like they leave Miami on May 5th and if they do, does anyone know when they will arrive in Galveston? Would it be the 7th or the morning of the 8th? We were wondering, because it doesn't look like passengers are on board, and if there isn't will everyone be allowed to go to their rooms right away or do you still have to wait until the 1:30 time frame? TIA

  10. We have gotten zone 1 debarkation every time we have been in a suite and that has been the last 8 cruises. So if this post is correct, all the suite guests get will be access to our room early? Everything else is what we already get. I haven't seen this info anywhere on their website or from John Heald's fb page. I hope the changes are better than this. I will be bummed.

  11. What makes them "incredible"?

I just don't get it. It's a hot tub you have to pay for and a stone lounge chair (?)

The thasso pool is a mineral infused hot tub. Much larger, stronger and warmer than any hot tub on the ship. Then are real nice, and your skin feels better. We love them. The loungers are in quiet rooms, with tiled warm loungers. Very relaxing, there are also 3 steam rooms, one kind of mild, one stronger and one real strong. We love the spa on these ships. Worth it to us.
