  1. We will be flying into FLL but sailing from POM. We will fly in the night before we board and are considering both options for hotels. For those who have also done this, what would you recommend and which hotels in each location would you recommend? TIA!

  2. I know it's not a lot to work with but I'm having trouble finding things to do which was not the case in St Thomas. Thanks in advance.

If you don't mind me asking, what are you planning for St. Thomas? We will be there next week but I still haven't decided what we are going to do so I'm still looking at my options.

  3. We came out of the NCL port and for some reason we did not see the signs. Make sure you do. We got swindled by the cab to Paradise Beach. He kept insisting on the price, but I found out how much he took us for when the ride back was so much cheaper!

How much is it to Paradise Beach?

  4. I will definitely give it a shot.

You should be able to transfer photos since the camera does have wifi. I have never personally used it before (or the GPS) and I'm not too tech savvy and have no idea what purpose I would need for these features personally. But, I would say you would be able to find out how to do it via the instruction booklet that comes with it or searching online or youtube I would think.

Thank you again for the info. I wanted to show you what my hubby bought me for my birthday last week!

I'm just a little bit excited!! [emoji7][emoji1] He had to wait because the Tough TG-5 had not released but he couldn't find the TG-4 available anywhere. I would've been fine with the TG-4 but I'm excited about this little guy, too. Now to figure it out before we set sail next month! [emoji4]

  5. We have sailed out of NOLA four times and out of Galveston once. Personally, we prefer Galveston. So much so that we've booked a cruise out of Galveston again for this fall even though it takes us about twice the time to get there.

Sailing out of Galveston was a breeze for us and departing was super easy, too. Upon arrival, we were able to drive straight to the port without waiting forever in line. That has not always been the case in NOLA. It seems that there is always a very long line waiting to get into the parking garage part of the terminal. One cruise we parked at Fulton Street Garage and it was a lot easier since they bring you to the terminal on a shuttle. They drop you off at the front and you walk in, easy peasy. It's also significantly less expensive to park at Fulton Street Garage.

The other thing that we noticed was a fairly significant difference in the people working at the port. In Galveston, they all seemed to be happy to be there and like it was a pleasure to serve us (kind of like going to Chick-fil-a;)). We have encountered some in NOLA that were this way but it definitely hasn't been the norm for us. Many times we felt like it was a bother for them to have to answer a question or to help us.

All of that being said, you're going on a cruise and I know you're going to have an amazing time as soon you step on that ship! Have fun and don't stress any of the little things that may come up on your way to the ship. :D

  6. But you can order cases of water through the fun shops and have it delivered to your cabin.

This is what we've done the past two cruises. It was nice not to have to worry about lugging it around. It was waiting for us when we arrived in our stateroom.

I do believe you can still bring a 12 pack of soft drinks per person but they must be in cans.

  7. I'm considering purchasing the Olympus Tough TG4 and have a few questions that I hope you can answer.

Can you transfer pics from the camera to a smart phone via wifi?

Will it need the waterproof case that I've seen available or is it waterproof as it comes when you purchase it?

After swimming in salt water, do you just wash/wipe it off to get rid of the salt residue?

Any other tips/tricks that you can think of that may be useful?

    TIA!

  8. Has anyone ever done the Cozumel Discover Scuba Diving Excursion from Shore through shoreexcursioneer.com? Was just wondering if it would be something for those with no scuba experience. We do know that we would prefer doing one from the shore rather than boat and this seems to fit the bill for that part.

    TIA!

  9. I did not forget about this, OP. We just got off liberty and we this menu, which is exactly what the previous poster had:

Day 1- Not sure, did not go

    Day 2 (Formal) Saffron

    Day 3- Basil

    Day 4 (Roatan)- Pimento

Day 5 (Costa Maya)- ****ake (we went to Giovannis) (EDIT apparently cc thinks this is a bad word so I will split it Shi itake.

Day 6 (Cozumel- Formal)- Jasmine (lobster night)

Day 7- Pomodoro (or lobster on the buffet)

Thank you so much! Now, if someone could post some pics of the different things offered along with the names, that would be UH-mazing!

  10. Can anyone tell me which dock in Cozumel we can expect to be sailing the Liberty of the Seas? We've been to International on our first cruise in 2008 but every time since then (all with Carnival), we've been docked at Puerta Maya. DH bought a pair of boots at one of the shops there last year and would like to get another this year, so I'm wondering if we will be at the same place or do we need to look for boots elsewhere this time around.

    TIA!

  11. The one thing that NCL can't get right is their biscuits. They are like hockey pucks! Thank goodness Carnival's isn't. They have mini-biscuits and they were pretty good.

Where did you find the biscuits? We've been on seven (7) cruises with Carnival and I don't think I've ever seen one. I'm a southerner and we southerners love our biscuits, preferably with some gravy but some butter, jelly or jam will suffice. I've always thought it odd that Carnival has almost everything you can think of available for breakfast (even baked beans! That's still strange to me. LOL) but never a biscuit. I guess I haven't been looking in the right place. ;p

And I agree with you about the bacon police.

  12. We did the Amazing Cozumel Race a couple of years ago and had a blast. We are in our late 40's/early 50's and enjoyed it just as much as the younger crowd. We booked ours through Carnival which was who we were sailing with at that time. I have seen it listed through RCCL but not lately.

Here's the link directly to the one that we did: http://amazingcozumelrace.com

I hope this helps. Hubby loved it so much that he's mentioned us doing it again the next time we are in Cozumel.

  13. Lastly, how quick did you guys get your luggage?

In our experience, this has varied from ship to ship. Our first time using it was on the Conquest (2013) and our luggage was in our room as soon as we boarded. On the Freedom (2014), my DH actually found most of our luggage waiting on the carts down the hallway and brought it to our room. We had been on board for a couple of hours at that point and had already eaten lunch, walked around the ship, etc. Our experience on the Dream (2015) was that most of our luggage was waiting outside our stateroom upon arrival but other pieces arrived much later.

Also, make sure that the porters put the correct FTTF tags (bright orange) on your luggage when you give them to them. If they fail to do this, it will most definitely be later when you get it.

    Hope this helps!

    Happy Cruising!
