I'm also going to be doing a port stop there on Adventure in October and compared all the options. Easy decision to choose the 8 hour guided tour (7:30am - 3:30pm) for $79.99 pp. I've cancelled and booked this 3 times so far on my Cruise Planner to get what I think is now the best price.

Do it.  I've never seen a price cheaper than that for the guided tour.  Since I've waited so long to book...with just 3 weeks to go, its 99.00 for me.

I was on Allure last year with my 17 month old at the time. There is a really nice swim area for kids. However, if they are still in swim diapers, they can only play in a small area. Which got boring very fast.  But if you go on a port day they do not police as much. Have fun!

So feel free to let you kid foul the water on those days?  Entitlement never ceases to amaze me.  They probably have a more involved filtering protocol for the diaper areas.  But hey, why follow the rules?

  3. I just returned from Bermuda (on a cruise) and we did day passes at Coco Reef. For $49 per person you have access to loungers and umbrellas at both a nice pool and the beach below. Plus a fantastic lunch including a glass of wine. We liked it so much the first day, we did it again the second day! We were not charged for my 8 year old son, but we did have to pay for his lunch (which was like $12)

As it is getting popular with the cruise crowd, do contact them ahead.

Vince Angelo is the General Manager and was very reaponsive to my inquiries.

  4. Not sure where you heard abou the $14.99' date=' but there is an active thread this week about it here.

    Wifi is one thing.

Cellular Roaming is another. Just turn off CELLULAR ROAMING and your data will be fine.

If you do connect to the wifi onboard, make sure, double sure you DISCONNECT when you are done. Otherwise your $.40 to $.75 per minute keeps going.[/quote']

The 14.95 is from a service provider in Bermuda for use while docked there. I understand that it works well from one's balcony and side but not in rooms.

  5. I've seen people complain here on the forums about being told by porters they need to be taken care of. And you don't want to complain because you really want your bag to make it. I doubt I would even try to get a name of a shake down porter for fear my bags would not make it!

But if the cruise lines hire them, I would at least let the line know that I felt intimidated. Do the porters have to wear a name tag? If not, they should so they could be reported later.

  6. We were on a cruise that had a group of cross-dressers on board. Some looked pretty nice, and others looked worse than I would if I dressed in drag. During the cruise they had a group photo taken. :)

The photographer was the happiest man on the ship a few days later, he must have sold 500+ copies of the picture to the 1400 pax on board! :D We still have ours, somewhere.

Not sure I am crazy about the fact that it sounds like anyone can buy a copy of any photo that is taken. Or am I misunderstanding?

  7. One night my DH and I were sitting at the bar in a lounge on the Brilliance with another couple that we have known for many years. When the wife left to go back to the cabin to get something, a woman we had nicknamed "Drunk Girl" because of her previous antics on the ship moved right over next to the husband, snuggled right up to him and started stroking his thigh. He was in his late 50's and not a "player" by any means and was too polite to say anything. He just kept looking at us for help and we were too busy laughing to help much (we had had a couple of drinks). All I could think of was that his wife, who is petite but feisty, was going to come back and there was going to be a brawl. Luckily Drunk Girl stopped the stroking and snuggling and moved back to her seat just before the wife returned.

Too polite? Seriously? That is crazy...on his part.

  8. Years ago several friends and I booked passage on a Carnival Celebration for a Star Trek Theme Cruise. I think we trekkers were about half of the ship. Now some fans enjoy dressing up in Trek Uniforms. Since the was back when dressing up/dress codes seemed to mean a little more, the organizer of the Trek event asked permission for our group to wear dress uniforms on the formal evenings should they be so inclined. I was not into costuming at the time, but thought it was nice to have that option.

What I could not grasp was the individual who donned her uniform with a cheetah mask or the individual who painted himself blue to mimic a seldom seen alien from the classic series. Seriously...who would think that was a good idea? I think there were a few more questionable outfits, but those two I'll always remember.

Bet the other half of the ship had great fun regaling their friends with stories of their trip and sights seen.

  9. I was pointed to this thread while reading a thread about food on RCI ships. it took two days to read the whole thing, but I know I am better for it.

What a wonderful tribute to your beloved Carol. I am sure she was with you as you honored her. I can only imagine how hard it was for you to take that cruise on your own, but you had lots of company doing it both on-line and by the sounds of it on board by the end.

My family and I are hitting Oasis in April...and as a new friend of Trainman-2 promise to recreate the famous breakfast sandwich at least once in the Windjammer.

    Peace!
