    This doesn't sound good...

I was able to log into my 4/30 sailing without an issue. I did see this on our roll call:

I became concerned and called, but the rep said she didn't think it was likely at this point we would be canceled, and if so they'd notify us over two weeks in advance. The 4/25 sailing is less than two weeks from sailing and there's been no cancellation announcement. Now, I know that didn't quite happen the first time around so I'm still looking for a backup for our trip, but hopefully won't need to use it.

  2. I will be on the Jewel for the April TA. I have never sailed with John Blair before and would appreciate any comments about him.

It is a 15 day cruise so the CD and how he handles himself and the activities staff is very important

    Thanks

We just sailed with John (and his wife, Katrina as the AM) on the Jewel in November. He wasn't my favorite but wasn't my least favorite by far. He does a big Neil Diamond thing and it's a little too aged for my taste but a lot of people enjoyed it. Some of the activities were a little cheesy, and not nearly as crazy as some of the younger CDs, but it was still nice. He took time out to talk to the passengers and appeared to have a genuine level of care and concern for all of the guests and crew alike. I would sail with him again, but may avoid some of the 'dated' activities.

  3. Just off Oasis and curious to know what others think of Ricky Matthews? It looks like he is only on their for a couple of months. He is a good dancer but we did not care for him as a cruise director. Just our personal opinion from seeing him introducing the shows and his early morning show on tv. Maybe we are just spoiled from some of the others we have seen.

We've had him as a CD twice- I liked him a lot, my husband didn't LOVE him, but can tolerate him. In spite of others we've had, I happen to think he is pretty great! He's funny, but very into himself, and a little wacky at times. I would cruise with him again, would absolutely choose him over others!

  4. I've done a search on this thread but I can't find what I'm looking for. Are there hair dryers in the owners suites, or do we have to bring or own on?

We stayed in a Junior Suite and there was a hair dryer in our cabin, so I assume there would be one in the owners suites as well. They're not the best dryers and you have to hold a button down the entire time, but it's certainly one less thing to pack!

  5. Yes, that's a really short break between contracts. I thought she left Adventure at the end of March, but a few posts back, someone said that she was their CD on the Match 22 sailing. I wonder if she left right after that one??

I hope someone can confirm the CD situation on Adventure!

Me too, because I'll be boarding her on 4/26!! [emoji4] I'll certainly update the group with what I learn!

  6. Why in the world would they give Jimmy Rhodes the Quantum gig, he is the least personable cruise director I have ever experienced. We have had him many times as we cruised on the Exployer over 10 times. If he is on our Quantum cruise in January 2015, it will definitely be our last on Quantum, we will be diamond plus by then, so may try other lines, or different port of departure. We will see if he has had an attitude adjustment since he has been gone. Loved Leigh and Erky, and Richard Spacey.

Just got off Oasis. This was my first cruise with Jimmy and I was very disappointed with him, so I don't think he had an attitude adjustment. He was very condescending with his staff and he just was not energetic at all. I don't even feel like he tried and I RARELY saw him out and about. I kind of knew what to expect thanks to all of your helpful feedback but I was very sad when he told us he was taking the Quantum gig as their "permanent" CD. Looks like I'll need to book my trip on the Quantum before 2014 is up!!
