  1. We did just this on the Emerald this February. To change rooms, you will have to pack up all your things in the drawers and bathroom, but not hangables. Then when your new cabin is ready, staff will come to the first room and put your things on rolling carts. Things on hangers will be hung on the carts too. They will then be taken to your new room. Things on hangers will be hung in the closet and then once you’re back in your room, you unpack again. We didn’t plan on leaving the ship (in LA, not FL) and we took our passports and medallions and walked off the ship, around the facility where the new passengers were waiting, went through security again very quickly, then back onto the ship. We could go directly to our rooms again since we were returning.

We’ve  done a few b2b from Fort Lauderdale. Never have gone on an excursion. We usually will walk, if docked at pier 2, to the grocery or drug store nearby to reload on things we may need. If we don’t need anything, we get an Uber and go to a favorite place for breakfast. You could also walk to the water taxi and take it around the canals to see several of the fancy homes along the waterways. We’ve not changed rooms at this port and have just walked off the ship, quickly gone through security and out the door to enjoy the day. There’s a separate door when you return back to port if you show them the card you’re handed the night before saying you’re an intransit passenger. You will go through security and then go onboard.

  2. We too are Starbucks mocha drinkers. When onboard, I’ve never liked them, no matter how they were made- more chocolate, add sugar, an extra shot. After several cruises, I just gave up and switched to a Carmel latte. My husband still gets the mocha.

Someone else said they don’t taste the same in other countries. I was a Starbucks barista awhile back. They are pretty persnickety about their recipes. But yes, availability of the exact same ingredients my not. I’ve had them taste different in stores in my local area. Not a deal breaker. . .

Let us know the outcome if you find out.

Good evening. I read on another Princess site that the next cruise just got word they would be skipping Princess Cay and schedule times for other ports have changed. This leads me to believe the fix didn’t work.

Last night, as we sailed from Antigua to Barbados, stabilizers came out again. It got pretty bumpy. It makes for the best nights sleep though!

Tonight we are on our way to St. Lucia.  As the island is only 100 miles or so away, we’re going a bit slower. No need to hurry!

Just now, while sitting in Cafe Caribe, I told my wife that I smelled something electrical burning. A few minutes later an announcement from the bridge alerted to an issue in Horizon Court and the fire doors closed. Within seconds there were several officers and then a “stand down” announce the was made from the bridge. Crew members have now pulled down some of the ceiling panels. Everyone remained calm, so to the point of being oblivious. Several people could understand why they were briefly being denied entry into the buffet.

On another note, the water was  much calmer today.

We were in the Crown Grill. Didn’t hear a thing nor did service skip a beat. Hmmm. . .

We will be following you and boarding on the 25th for 30 days. No notification yet about missing any ports or itinerary time changes, although I am expecting it.

Good evening. I’m on the Crown now as well with my husband for our second round of two. On the last voyage, we did the ultimate ship tour on the last sea day. One of our stops on the tour was the engine room. A very friendly Scottish gent is in command there. (Only a few references to Captain Kirk were mentioned.)

We drilled him on the generator issue.

He’s had around 27 repair persons onboard since the problem started. They have disassembled and now reassembled the generator. He said they were going to start it up and test it on this voyage. So, we are the guinea pigs so to speak.

so far, we don’t think it’s being used as the seas have been rocky and stabilizers out for most of the trip so far. There’s a part of the medallion app that tells us our heading and speed too. We haven’t seen it go above 18knotts so far.

    Please share details!

Look up yellowfish and Pescado Amarillo’s blog. She posts daily while cruising. She and her husband cruise away the winters. (Wouldn’t that be the life?) She has been posting daily lunch and dinner menus for the three days they have been on the Ruby. I’m sure, as they are heading towards Hawaii, menus will be just a bit different depending on where you’re sailing.

No matter how you booked the cruise, you can book any excursions directly with Princess, either on the web site (when it is working properly) or via telephone.

Thanks for letting me know. I still couldn't get into the website this morning, so called the travel agent. I'm glad I did as she could and found an excursion that had shown up in a blip and then disappeared. We thought it would be something we wanted to do (it was) and so got us signed up for that as well! All excursions are booked. Princess has about 50 days to fix the website so we can print our boarding passes!

  8. We just picked up a drop and go cruise on Friday for November. Since they had the website down, my iPad will no longer let me enter the Princess pages. Says an error occurred. So, we went to the local travel agent and she helped us book. Then at home, I dusted off the laptop to see if I could get excursions figured out. Ive now spent two days trying on the laptop, iPad, and phone! I tried to pay but it just hit me that because my agent handles things, I need to go through her to pay. So, another call to her in the morning to get them paid.

Plus, I noticed tonight that the whole excursion page has a new look. I just don't know if I like it or not. Jurry is still out. . .

Best of luck to the rest of you!

  9. I’ve been trying for two plus days now to log on. We received an email about a drop and go that we decided to book. Had to go to our travel agent to get it done. But I’d like to finish the parts at our end and see what excursions are left to pick but can’t get past the home page. Very upsetting.

How long does it stay down when I does go down? I see threads about this all the time here. It’s very frustrating!

  10. We also like to play the trivia games. We met two sisters a few years ago on a cruise playing trivia.  We have become friends and now cruise together annually. Our educational backgrounds are in different fields and make for a well rounded foursome. We pick up two more on each cruise and just have fun. We felt once we were hogging answers so, let the other two tell us answers. The wife would give us the answer she wanted us to write and then hit her husband when the answer was wrong, saying that she told him she thought it was the other answer! We usually do average to above average and on occasion have won the trinkets given as prizes. As we all don’t need whatever it is, we usually give them away before we even leave the room!

Life is just too too short to get worried about winning at trivia!

  11. We've usually had balcony rooms. The noise from those rooms seems to come from folks talking out on their balcony or their doors slamming shut to the balcony.

We tried an inside once, just to see if we could exist living in one for a week. (Very doable in our book) I have great radar hearing, so picked one that would be surrounded by other rooms all around us. The only noise I heard was the very loud snorer in a room somewhere next to us. Wow! Could this person saw wood! Other than that, it was great!

    Go enjoy your cruise!

  12. Eye mask? I’ve been lucky to get the 4 q-tips, hair conditioner, three cotton balls, and the luffa thing. Think I’ll try asking at the desk too on my next trip. It’s always been iffy even getting one. But I don’t let it mess with me being in my happy place!

  13. I own the 100 shares of Carnival stock. I’ve always sailed with Princess. Can I use it on my Carnival sailing too? Is it the same as with Princess? Where can I find the form, if different, to fill out?

    Thank you for your help!

  14. Are you flying from Raleigh? I would think that getting a room so you can rest up and possibly clean up and have breakfast would be the thing to do. We flew into Anchorage from Ohio and spent two nights there. We were so tired upon arrival, we all didn't think to get cameras out when on the way to the hotel we stopped and saw a moose. The airport wasn't much to look at. WE had to stand for over an hour, for lack of seating to get our luggage as the delivery belt had broke before we arrived. It was quite a mess.

Spend the extra and get a room. Try the moose  sausage and pancakes!

I noticed the same for my cruise.  I walked past the Crown Grill almost every night (deck 7).  I was surprised that I didn't have trouble getting a reservation for a day of my choice.  And they were empty every night.  I was expecting limited spaces but not this time.

Yes. Also on our cruise, not many were in the casino for gambling. Some were there to smoke but there was never a problem finding a machine (usually the one I liked) ready to takecmy money! I wonder if the longer cruises are all like this?

  16. We too get a dinner from our TA. This last time, I tried to reserve April 1st, thinking it was a casual day in the dining room. Turns out, they booked us for Sabatinis instead of the the Steak house. I called the dining line and had it changed. Then we found out that it was a formal night, so we called again and changed the date. They are very flexible when it comes to things like that. Both restaurants were not used very much throughout our cruise. Sad. . .

  17. We too just got off the Star on Saturday. What Jersey 42 said is correct. I will add that the way our set was hanging, it left a large part of the brace exposed and could hit my husband in the head entering the room from the balcony. He wrapped a towel around it and taped it with our painters tape to keep the head safe. Our neighbors room didn't have that issue as their TV was on the other side of the sliding balcony door. Bad planning on Princesses part. Be careful of your head if you are in a balcony!

Any lotion they provide would be horrible for me. I'm allergic to most scent and the stuff I've seen on Princess is highly scented. No thanks. My wife wouldn't use it anyway.

We are two peas in a pod. Most smells make me sneeze and the nose run. I even have to pick out my husbands deodorant! (He's much taller and to give the guy a hug. . . . well, you get it!)

I find formal nights to be the worst. I think everyone soaks in their own perfumes and after shaves. Very difficult to go into the halls. Everyone, listen, you become immune to your fragrance. Just use a dab, or if it's a spray, spray it above you, one spray, and then stand under it so it mists you. We will smell it, honest. No need to bathe in it! (Rant over)

I also worked at a gym where they soap all in one stuff needed to be refilled daily in the shower stalls. I would clean as best I could but the dispensers wouldn't come off the walls. Yes, a lot of mold on the back of the thing, but we did make sure it wasn't inside! Ick!!! Ours was a GOJO product. Didn't like that either.

I too always bring my own shampoo, soap and hand cream. I also bring a pump hand soap!

Loofah? I've never got one of those!

I used to donate my books to the local library until I went to their annual book sale every year and they always had 50 copies of the best sellers on sale from the previous year.

So, we too go to the library often. To check out books, give books for their sales, and to buy books for future cruises. Win, win, win. And we will donate to the ship library as well.

But in this ‘day and age’ hubby thinks (and I like the idea) is Princess supplies the kindles. The passenger can borrow the kindle for a down payment that will be returned when the cruise is finished. The ship supplies books to download in the library. One techie needed to help those who don’t know how to operate one. The ship could then have a great ‘library’ at their disposal to share with the passengers, the room could be freed up to be made into storage for barrel chairs (my addition) and board games.

The only snafoo in this is that the readers won’t be gambling or drinking, thus making the ship a profit.
