You can see them on the deck plans, they are pretty close.

Sorry, I'm just popping in here to reply to the original question but not contributing to the potty training discussion (been there, done that, don't ever want to go there again!;)).

The one issue we found when we were on the Freedom was that the restrooms closest to the H2O zone are also the ones used by patrons of the Windjammer. A few times I had to run in there with the kids because they "had" to go, but because they were wet and drippy I got a few dirty looks and snide remarks from crew who were in there. I can understand that, but they also need to realize that those restrooms happen to be the closest to where the little kids are splashing about. Unfortunately, when little ones need to go it is usually RIGHT AWAY!

So, moral of the story, if you can, try to "schedule" potty breaks giving you enough time to go the restrooms by the Pool Bar, which are intended for use by people using the pools. It can be a bit of a hassle, but it might save you from some nasty looks/remarks :p.

I always find it funny that so long as the sun is out and there's a pool, most kids will go swimming, regardless of temperature! There are adults walking around in these pics with long-sleeved sweaters on, and there the kids are, frolicking away - you'll never catch me doing that unless it's stinking hot:D!!

I'm really enjoying the pics Mike, please keep them coming!

  3. I just stumbled upon this thread today and have been ejoying reading Egon's exploits. I also do not post much, but I love to look around and read. Please continue to post Yellowbird. It is so inspiring to read of Egon's adventures and his passion for life!

  4. Funny that I found this thread now, and just last night I was going through old pictures etc trying to piece together my cruising history to udpate my signature. Alas I left my list at home this morning, but I do remember my very first cruise.

It was Festival's Flamenco and it definitely got me hooked! It was a Caribbean itinerary though I can't remember all the ports. The two most memorable stops though (as if I could forget) were St. Thomas where my "boyfriend" and I at the time were checking out jewelry stores and diamond rings in particular. We were sort of looking at the rings, then looking at each other and we basically said "why not?". I remember we almost missed getting back on the ship as it took so long for my engagement ring to get fitted!

We had initially planned to actually hold off on getting "officially" engaged until later in the year, but later during that cruise, while snorkelling off the coast of Virgin Gorda, my now DH pulled the engagement ring out of his swimming trunks (this was AFTER snorkelling), got down on one knee and proposed. Of course my first reaction was "ARE YOU CRAZY? YOU WERE SNORKELLING THE WHOLE TIME WITH THE RING IN YOUR POCKET?!?!".

  5. Hi Mike,

I just stumbled upon your thread yesterday and have been reading avidly ever since. Like so many others have expressed, I am LOVING reading you and your family's story. I'm only getting up to the renewal part now, but I just couldn't help myself, I had to post something! I can't wait to get back to it (work? what's work?).

Can I also mention something else I've noticed? Considering the length of this thread and the many responses you've received, I am sooooo impressed that you have essentially responded to every single comment others have posted to you (whether individually or as a group). I think this says A LOT about the fabulous type of person you are (as if we didn't already know that, considering all that you did for your lovely wife and your love for her:)).

Best wishes to you and your entire family and enjoy your cruise next year! Good luck to Tracy in her new career!

PS - I also agree with other posters who have mentioned how attractive your wife is, but let me chime in with YOU'RE HOT TOO :p (Congrats Tracy!)!!
