The FCC we used to book this cruise is now back in our account BUT it states that we have to use it by December of this year! I thought we had until June 2023 to use it?! Is anyone else seeing the same thing? Typo on their end?

Mine says 6/13/2023. Btw I’m very impressed. All of our cabins have received our full refunds today including any extras purchased.

  2. I’m going to give credit where credit is due. Was not happy that our Oct 2 Greek Isles was cancelled last week and they wouldn’t allow us to just transfer the funds to another ship. We also waited about 5 months for a refund from our COVID cancelled Europe cruise and it was a battle so didn’t have much faith. I’m happy to say that one week after NCL cancelled the cruise  all of our cabins have every dime back including excursions etc.

I am wondering how, or if this will impact my cruise. We are booked from 9/2-9/12 and have not received a cancellation letter. According to the letter in this thread and multiple news articles, she is going into dry dock on 9/8? Or She is not available to book after 9/8? If so, why didn't they say the actual date she'd go to dry dock instead of picking a date in the middle of a cruise not yet canceled lol?

Have read of ongoing issues since the last repair and am concerned we might not get canceled now but that it may happen closer to the sail date.

Considering we're in the US, this cut-off is too close for comfort I think if we were to get canceled right before the sail date. Obviously, I can't control it.... just sharing out loud I guess.

I understand the issue and would be disappointed, but I would rather know now. I will call NCL tomorrow when they open but as of right now my cruise shows active and available to book.

I am sorry for everyone who has been canceled. Although I have cruised many times, about 15 years ago I said this is what I wanted to do for my milestone birthday, and i feel we'll be canceled, so I understand the disappointment

Mine, the October 2nd cancelled cruise, is still on my cruise planner and still showing shore excursions for booking, offers to upgrade drink packages etc even though I’ve received the cancellation letter. Yesterday I got an email about tender procedures in Santorini🙄. They don’t have a clue what they’re doing.

My email to Katty Byrd et al did seem to inspire some form of outreach. Now they’ve offered to hold space on Gem for us without payment till our refund arrives. Should have been part of the original offer but, too little, too late. All of our group’s cabins have been rebooked on Odyssey of the Seas. Sayonara.

Then it was your own fault.  As soon as they cancelled you could contest the charge with your credit card and you would have the funds available again within a week or two.

Absolutely false. For Covid cancellations that worked for some people at some US banks -not all. It did not work where I’m from and I’m a senior officer at a bank. Where the companies agreed to provide refunds you had to wait out their process regardless of how long it took. I finally got Katty Byrd to help find the issue for 12 of us and it got sorted 5 months later.

Nice job telling me this is my fault though. How goofy. My only mistake was giving them another chance.

It makes perfect sense for them to wait for final payment to cancel.  Many folks hold bookings with deposits and never make final payment.  Why would NCL want to pay out a bunch more FCC to those folks?

(disclaimer: I am certainly among "those folks."  I book early and often and generally sort things out just before final payment.)

What FCC would that be? There’s no FCC -they’re processing refunds for the next 30 days. That doesn’t even make sense.

Yes! Lift and Shift to the same category! Unfortunately, we were in the Haven 2bd suite.

I am not interested in any of the other current sailings. Perhaps in a year or 2.

Sorry to hear that HB. It’s a bummer for sure. We’re coming from North America so have the airfare already so will find something. Not with NCL though. I gave them another chance and they got me again. Won’t give them another opportunity.

Where were you price checking? Those 3 cruises were pulled off NCL's site this weekend, but starting last Thursday if you clicked on the 3 sailings it said sold out even though the page before had a price. If it wasn't an NCL site I'd make note that they don't update as frequently.

So I haven’t posted here in years and forgot you can’t mention sites so my previous reply was deleted. Anyway the point was, the ship didn’t go from many available cabins to sold out in one day. I’ve watched the pricing for our group daily. I also know NCLs pattern prior to cancellation.

It sucks that they won’t let us just shift the funds to a new voyage around the same date but rather have to put out all the funds again if we still want to go and then wait for them to decide to refund us. We waited a very long time for our refunds the last time they cancelled us. I’m not impressed.

it's possible they didn't know the exact dates of the dry dock until they cancelled the cruises.  If you think about it - there's always SOMEONE on the "couldn't they have figured this out x days sooner and avoided taking our final payment?" train.  I'm not sure EXACTLY how they're scheduled into dry dock, especially an off-cycle one as this seems to be, but I imagine the cruise line notifies the yard that they want a dry dock scheduled, a time frame they'd prefer it to be in and for how long it needs to be in for and the yard then finds a spot in the schedule to get it done.  They can't book them TOO long in advance - sometimes a ship may take a little longer than planned so they can't book too far in advance or they risk having to reschedule too many ships and throwing a lot of business off schedule.

I’ve been sailing a long time. I know it takes time to book a dry dock.  My point was that the Oct 2 sailing went from many cabins available to sold out in a day just before final payment. Then they pulled it entirely Saturday which was final payment day.  They knew exactly what they were doing.

We are on the same cruise but have not received anything yet. I am reaching out to my TA to see what she knows. Are they giving us FCC? Can you post a photo of the letter?

We got our email around 1:10 pm ET but a TA had posted it earlier on an Escape Facebook page.

  10. They made sure they collected final payment though the day before they pulled this sailing down plus the two before it. I was price checking yesterday morning and could pull up available cabins (and there were lots) and then the sailing disappeared. I knew then it would be cancelled. Just like our last one that got turfed.

I get the reason for the cancellation but seriously, couldn’t they have done it before collecting final?  And then there’s nonrefundable airfare, hotels etc. No option to transfer funds to another sailing. Pay out of pocket again and wait for the refund. The last one took 5 months. I’m so annoyed right now. They can stuff their paltry 10%

  11. Buckle up. The cheerleaders will be here in droves shortly to sing the praises. I get what you’re saying though. It’s soured my group of 12 as well. A company that’s operating this thinly doesn’t inspire much confidence that we’ll see any money back period. I’m still waiting for amenities refunds from over 5 weeks ago. I call once a week and they tell me they can see they've been cancelled properly and they’re not sure why they haven’t been processed but call again next week if it hasn’t come. Then there’s the refunds for the actual voyage that we entered today. Good luck to all of us on that one.

My opinion hasn't changed.  If you are THAT worried about the money you paid for your cruise and need it back RIGHT NOW!!, then you spent above your means and it is a lesson learned.

You opinion sounds wholly uneducated and arrogant. Clearly you’re fine with that. I love how the least enlightened people always think they’re so smart.

Also, you may want to work on your reading comprehension. I didn’t say anything about needing my money RIGHT NOW!! (How many ! keys have you worn out on that keyboard btw?)  The reason I HAVE money (besides the fact that I’m a professional and work hard for it) is because I don’t willingly let heavily leveraged companies, or people for that matter, keep what’s mine without giving me a timeline for when I’m going to get it back. I’m sorry that concept escapes you but good for you for holding steadfast to defending some random company over your fellow humans.

  13. It is my place because I can see exactly her ridiculously judgmental statement. Not rocket science. You (and she) know nothing of anyone’s personal situation that causes them to be concerned about the funds tied up with any company and it’s not your place to tell them what should concern them. Such astounding arrogance.  Oh, and try apples to apples next time. 🙄

It's all relative, I guess.  For folks who are actually battling illness for themselves or a family member, cruising seems like the last thing they would be worrying about.  I don't really want to touch on the fact that if you don't have an emergency fund built up, you probably shouldn't be spending $4K on a cruise because that's another story.  No one should be spending their last dime on a vacation.

I just struggle with the fact that, at a time when folks should be collectively coming together to show what is right and good about this country, there are people who just look for ways to complain (even about relatively insignificant things) instead of looking for ways to HELP.

This is ridiculously judgmental.  Many of us have had or have family members who have had serious health issues long before Covid and are well aware of what is happening in the world right now. I  100% of the time can afford every vacation I’ve ever booked. That doesn’t mean I’m willing to toss the cash away. I have been unwinding a vacation for 12 of us that has been in the works since Aug 2018. There is a great deal of cash on the table. It is not your place to minimize or to lecture people on what they should or shouldn’t be concerned about right now. You know nothing about anyone else’s situation.

  15. Some of you need to give your heads a shake. That you actually criticize people who are wondering about their own finances during this extraordinary time while defending this company that runs its day to day operations on massive amounts of leverage is ridiculous. I’m dead certain there’s no one on here who thinks they’re going to be sailing any time soon but maybe we’d like to at least get the process started since the first round has to wait 90 days for a refund. And maybe we’re not even certain a refund is going to be an option. Guess what? It’s time we found out. I and my 11 family members who were supposed to be sailing from Rome on May 8th (and know for certain we won’t be) would like to know the status of our 35 grand that NCL is currently holding onto.

I work in an ER in Seattle. I can look out the window, and except for a couple of trees and a small hill, see the hospital where 30 people died. My manager described where we work as Ground Zero for COVID-19 in the USA. Have you had a suspected COVID-19 patient huff in your face? I did. Last night.

elwood thanks for being on the front line. As the mom of a young physician I understand fully what is going on and I am afraid for my son and all of you.

It is incredible to see what social media has done to humans over the last decade. That someone would, from the armchair they’ve sat in nonstop for years shoving pompous opinions down the throats of everyone who has the misfortune to read here, ridicule someone who is in harms way on the front lines with first hand knowledge is simply astounding. He will be humbled some day.  It happens to everyone eventually; even the most arrogant.

I am due to sail on the 27th February and would like to know why the Jade was cancelled on the 17th February.  The 17th cruise was going for 10 days from Singapore back to Singapore,  So NCL has cancelled it as it might have been worried in case a passenger caught the virus and then the ship it would be in lock down like the Princess. The cruise leaving on the 27th has to get back to Europe for their summer season so it can’t be delayed for any reason.  At this stage it seems that NCL is more concerned about the dollars then their passengers health.

I look at it differently. With the 10 day sailing cancelled, like other lines in the area, the ship is likely to undergo deep cleaning and sanitization during that period. If the 27th voyage does sail I would imagine there will be significantly enhanced screening prior to boarding as well.

MDQ isn't that great imo. The story is paper thin.

It can be summed up in 2 words: I'm leaving.

Have to agree. Always surprised to see how many people like it. We got free tickets at the casino in our city. There were six in our group and we left about 20 mins in and we had really looked forward to the music.  Thought the story was really goofy. Definitely won’t make me sad if it changes before our Getaway voyage in May.

  19. I have 6 cabins booked on Getaway in May of this year in the Med. I have called in (booked directly withNCL) to have the cabins repriced 4 times since we originally booked. Total drops over $1400  per cabin. They made the changes quickly with no issue and no cabin changes or rebooking required. Final payment was due earlier this month and the last price drop was about a month before that.

I would be very surprised by this. On average about 250 guests in the YC and you’re telling me 125 at 530 and 125 at 845?  That place won’t even hold 125 at once.

It makes no sense but the person reporting it boarded today and they told her they were implementing it starting with this voyage.

What part of UNFORESEEN do you fail to comprehend?

Really? Is that necessary? It’s a very big deal for people who are flying or have already flown a very long way to sail. They have many things to sort out now.

What is wrong with people that they feel the need to make snotty remarks like this?

Same could be said for Brits and Aussies. They are the ones continually lecturing about that the workers should be paid "proper wages" and then are first in line to remove the gratuities because "we don't having tipping where we come from", leaving the poor workers with even less wages (try to figure out THAT rational)!

At least Americans can't be accused of being cheap and selfish.

Pretty wide brush you’re painting with there.
