1. Hats..

This one goes with several of my outfits and is crushable with a wire edge! Got it in San Francisco!

    Terry

Terry I LOVE all your outfits!! Wow, you are going to look fabulous on your cruise!!

From someone who "has been there & done that" I used to wear my wig to keep warm (I had chemo thru winter)...and I've read so much on how inside the ship can be cold. You may want your wig...just to keep warm. Alhough, you look great anyway...wig, hat, bald! :)

Wishing you a fabulous cruise, you deserve it!

  2. We made arrangements several weeks ago through Liz Periera, who seems to have a special relationship with PCG. We wanted to do a short island tour before going to PCG, so she arranged for Rose (of Rose & Jim's) to give us a 2-hour tour ($25), then drop us off at PCG. She reserved the three sun beds & umbrellas for us.

We probably didn't really need that, since it wasn't crowded, but it was kind of nice! We had only one large ship in port that day (and one smaller one).

We didn't pay anything to Liz for PCG - just the regular $10 fee directly to the place. We walked back, but I know she would have arranged for pick up if we'd asked.

    Karen,

Did you enjoy the 2 hour tour? What did it involve? I would love to see the island, but, want to spend most of my time at the beach or pool. :) Thanks

  3. I am glad Dmirty won too, liked his line the best. BUT, hated those eyebrows on his models--I found them very distracting from his clothing. I am surprised the judges didn't say anything about them.

I was a fan of Melissa's most of the season, but, felt Dmirty ended up with a stronger collection.

So now I'm looking forward to the Project Runway All-Stars! Loved the last one---surprisingly, even all the judges & those who have Hiedi & Tim Gunns roles.

  4. I thought the exact same thing about the necklaces!

I lean towards Dimytri. I just like his look the best. I kinda felt like the judges critiques were a bit manufactured. Do any of you think his clothes looked "old?" Maybe my problem is I'm old. haha

I always like Melissa's clothes better on her than her models.

Agreed, I didn't think Dimytris clothes looked old either...but, then I'm old too...lol.

If anything I found them to be too 'busy'...too much going on, as some of the judges pointed out. The pieces by themselves where beautifully done...IMO.

  5. Overall, I agree that this is going to be a tough decision! I really do like all of these designers as people - rare in a finale!

Yes, I like them all too & they seem to like and respect each other.

After the last show I felt like they all where about the same....I don't think I could of picked who went home, only based on that show. Although, did like Melissa's just a tad better.

  6. tizzylizz: Your raspberry top will look great on a Caribbean cruise. I agree that, although it's fun, pretty; it's too casual for your skirt...maybe a sparkly silver belt? I've already seen holiday glitzy tops - you will find one, I'm sure. And if you choose to wear the raspberry top, wear it with confidence and have fun!

I figured if I didn't end up using with skirt...I could use with some white Capri/pants. But, I agree the fabric looks kind of casual...but, in reality is has a satin sheen to it---bit dressier look to it, then what is showing up in picture.

  7. There is a spoiler board over at Television Without Pity, but I've been avoiding the spoilers. You could probably just Google Project Runway Fashion Week show and get the scoop as well. I only came across the photos of Gunnar's collection because I noticed that my sister subscribed to his Facebook feed and I was curious as to what he was up to.

Here's a link to the first page of the spoiler board. You'll need to go straight to the last page and read backwards to find out what's happening now - there are over 415 pages of spoilers (the posts go back to 2005). You'll most likely find links to both photos and video of all of the collections.

Warning! SPOILERS! If you're enjoying the suspense, don't read!

    http://forums.televisionwithoutpity.com/index.php?showtopic=3142989&st=0

Thanks! I will look at it after the show is over too...don't want to ruin the surprise who wins. But, I'd love to see the other collections...I think it would be interesting.

oops, I was checking to see if the above link worked and pushed submit instead without explaining the picture...lol...

Anyways, a month ago or so, I asked for help matching up the black sequin skirt. It was suggested I pair it with a silver satin halter type top. I loved the idea, but, haven't been able to find one I like.

I was trying to get something end of season sale for a cruise this coming April to the carribean! :)

Well, yesterday, found this 'raspberry' colored silky top that I really like...what do you think?? I love the color. It showing orange, but,it is more pink or raspberry.

Still will keep my eyes open for a silver one, but, at least have this one in the meantime.

  9. Gunner, Elena, Ven plus the final four all showed at Fashion Week. It's been like that for awhile now. Remember April with the all black clothes all season long? I saw her collection for Fashion Week and it was entirely petal-soft colors.

How do you see who showed & view their collection?

Wasn't crazy about any of the looks this weeks...guess I've liked the avant-garde challenges in past seasons much better.

I've liked Sonjis creations over Fabios all season...so disappointed she didn't make it.

  10. Thought it was kind of an odd show with designing toddlers, then the babies & making matching mom outfit-- that wasn't suppose to really count too much??? It seemed totally pushing Heidi's new kids line.

Liked Elena's the least...only because it was soooo busy. The jacket itself was cute. Did like Christopher's and Sonjis the best. I actually thought Melissa's was cute. I thought Fabios mom dress was very frumpy looking...but, the judges really liked it. Thought dymtires little guy looked adorable in his outfit & it looked comfortable, plus the mother looked good.

Guess a lot of the clothes translate different from what we see & the judges see.

My picks: Christopher, dimytri, sonji and maybe Fabio as a fourth (you know how sometimes they let 4 go thru)

  11. Helllloooo ladies! I haven't been on here for a while, but we just booked a December cruise, so now I'm in cruise clothes planning mode again!

Thanks to the recommendations on this site, I just ordered this bathing suit from swimsuitsforall. I hope it fits!!

I'm trying to whittle down my list...this is a 5 night cruise instead of the 7 nights that I'm used to!

    I love that suit!

  12. Guess I'm late to the party...:), just watched the show last night. Pretty much agree with what everyone is saying.

Christopher did have a great idea, just wished it was in a darker shiny fabric too. Also thought dymtry was a clear winner too...hard to choose, guess Christopher eeked him out with his novel idea.

Ugggg...hated Elena's the most, then Fabios. Poor Van, I actually liked his fabric, boring dress that looked a bit frumpy on his model...but, IMO, not nearly as bad as Elena or Fabio.

  13. Thanks for the interesting read, Indiana!! I have to say this article really fits ME this year. In the past I've had one or two summer dresses that I mostly just wore at the lake. This summer I became dress/maxi dress/maxi skirt obsessed, and I have no intention of reigning it in! I bought several of each and find myself throwing one on to run to the grocery store, or if DH and I are headed out to grab a quick pizza, etc. He asked me once early in the summer why I was getting dressed up to grab a quick burger at the local pub and I told him a) I wasn't dressed up, and b) that it was for me.

The way I dress really does change the way I feel, no other reason. Oh, not to mention, they are SOOOOO COMFORTABLE!

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my yoga pants and still wear them at home (and they look pretty good, I don't do slouchy sweats). I'll even still wear them to run errands as the weather turns cooler, but it doesn't have to be a daily uniform.

I also made an effort to step up my appearance last spring...ditching the usual shorts/capris/jeans...for more dresses & skirts...and I've loved it!

Great article Indiana....some really good points.

Went to the theater with my son last month (havent been in years) and dressed up (because that's how your suppose to go, right?)....wow, people where dressed in everything from jeans/t-shirts to long gowns.

Today I had jury duty & was told to dress in smart causal....wow, people have lots of ideas what that means....lol.

  14. While Gunnar's story behind the print was nice, I didn't particularly like the print and even more, I didn't like what he made with it. I think, at 22, his range is still a little limited and I think the judges are right to send him home over Venn -- not that I think Venn is going to win, at this point.

I liked the cleverness of Dmitri's outfit, and I thought the print did look very Russian -- sort of like that art they do with the eggs (can't think of the name of it). As Heidi said, it looked very expensive. But honestly, I would've bought Sonjia's outfit in a heartbeat -- loved both the top and the pants.

It did seem like the prints came on a rather stiff cotton fabric that wasn't easy to drape (hence Christopher's problems).

OH -- I looked it up and here's a picture of that traditional egg art, apparently called pysanky -- doesn't it look like Dmitri's print?

    http://www.ukrainianegg.com/pics/zpost15.jpg

Yes, the print does look like that!

I loved Sonja's outfit the best, but, could never wear it..lol...but, I liked it. Dmitrys was also very nice & looked so well made--plus, probably could be worn by more body/age groups. Liked Melissa's and Sonjis prints the best.

Vens garments are very well constructed...they just seem the same & I find them kind of boring---just probably my taste. I did not like Gunnar's print, but, liked his outfit better then Vens.

  15. Another QUESTION: Do you buy cosmetics from one source, i.e., department store; and do you stay with one brand? I go where the sales person has some knowledge of makeup and can help me make the right choice (I need all the help I can get!). In a department store, though, it's difficult to mix brands since sales people want to sell their product. How about Sephora? Anyone go there?

For foundations: For years only use bare essentials...but, just tried Physician’s Formula Mineral Face Powder (drugstore brand). Someone told me about it and since it is about half the price I thought I'd give it a shot. So far I really like it, but, have only been using a few weeks.

Creams (locally made), but, eye shadow, masceras and others misc. items I mix it up...all different brands.

  16. I think the only problem with Venns group was the fabric choice fopr the tops. They should have (and could afford) a really lux fabric like maybe cashmere for the tops. I LIKED his 2nd skirt I thought it went well with the rest of their collection. Loved Gunnars dresses, glad he was saved last week. Im tired of Elana but I guess she brings the only drama so they will keep her. HATED her coat, it did look cheap. Again Christopher did a great job as well.

Yep, you are right....their fabric choice wasn't the best.

  17. We did it twice with just two of us...it was a blast! I don't think it opens until 6 but could be wrong about that. We went both times while we were at sea and had a great time. Enjoy!!

    Thanks Gracie!

Unless its drastically improved I wouldn't spend the extra money. Did the lawn club on the silhouette last fall and it certainly fell short of expectations.

In some older posts I do remember reading mostly not great reviews...but, recently (like this thread) seems to be some positive reviews...maybe it has improved? We will see....

  18. Yes, agreed with who should of gone home...thought she should of gone home last week. She seemed like such a sweet person though...guess that doesnt make for good drama.

The top 3 I also agreed were the clear winners. Didn't think ven & group did that bad of a job. I would wear Melissas jacket.

For the first time hated Dmitry outfit.

Was surprised to see in one of those blurbs they put in the corner as you are watching that elana is the top fan favorite? Her attitude makes her one of my least favorite. I think she may go home next.

  19.
Brody, you sound like me. We cruise twice a year MAy and Oct. so I hit the clerance racks thru out the year for my special cruise clothes especially swimwear . I love coverups as I live in them most of the day on our cruises. I store everything in clear rubber maid bins in my closet and then go thru it all (sometimes I buy to much) when I start my packing.
I'm looking for items too for my late spring cruise right now, hoping to snag some good deals! Whatever I find though...I want to be able to use it & not just for cruise. So, have to ask myself 'will I wear this after the cruise?'..lol...

I cruise so infrequently...sadly I don't need clothes just for cruising....maybe some day!
  20.
I mostly have beach cover ups etc on mine, but my Pinterst board is BLAKE SHELTON CRUISE.
What a great board...lots of cute pins!
My jewelry that I made is under gerrygems.webs.com on pinterest.
I can see your jewelry has been inspired by your cruises...so many nice pieces.
