  1. Oh dear.. you’re a first timer.. My .02 is this: A week will go by faster than you think. Use your valuable time going “live”. Soak it all in. Take pictures. Bask in the sun. Play BINGO. Nap. Try something new! This is YOUR time for you.

One thing i wish i had started for myself many (many) years ago was a sand collection. Small snack sized bags of sand of places we’ve been and then poured into little different sized jars and labeled as such. I’d have quite the collection by now!

    Just a thought for you..

  2. My last price adjustment was in Jan and that price won’t be beat now, so I’m done adjusting. But I was tracking the JS suite pricing, if that went down I’d call. It was a pain but well worth it as I saved significantly.

Agree!!! It’s so worth the time and effort because last time we not only saved on the stateroom we also saved big time on the drink package.

  3. Don't forget that you are only able to qualify for the price drop if there are still staterooms left in the category you booked in when the price drop is announced.

So say you booked a JS and all the JS are sold out for the sailing. A price drop is announced; you won't be able to get the difference.

We have a Pano on Deck 12 on FOS in April 2019..fingers crossed there are still some left by 05/01 because there aren't that many to begin with!!

  4. That's nice...but once you get off the ship you are at the mercy of customs, cab drivers, other idiots that share the road, the TSA, etc.

Agreed, but I would recommend you do some research beforehand and find out how much it should cost you from port to port. That way you know before you go. Knowledge is power.

We also did the self debark just a few weeks ago on AOS and overall it worked well for us...a bit of a wait at the airport but much better than scrambling. We were able to have a nice sit down meal while we were there.

  5. We just cruised out of PR on April 6th on AOS and had none of these problems, issues, inconveniences, travel related nuances..whatever you want to call them.

We got to the port prior to 10AM and there were clearly marked areas of where to queue for Guests with Luggage, Guests Without Luggage (middle line) and Suite & Pinnacle Club Guests (closest to building). Platinum and Above can drop off aka check their bags and go into the line for Guests Without Luggage or in the Suite/Pinnacle Club if of course you are supposed to be there. Gold and below stood in the longest line next to the street with their luggage.

We checked all of our bags (except our backpacks which had our bathing suits and a dry change of clothes as well as toiletries in them) and got in the middle line for Platinum and above..line began to move about 10AM and we had SeaPass Card in hand and Stateroom Number in less than 15 minutes. It was smooth and painless. Might I also add we had all our luggage before we went to dinner that evening as well.

Debarkation was a little less smooth but we had an early departure so we chose the self debark method. A little awkward to carry all your stuff down a flight or two of stairs but worth the effort to be off the ship and in a cab by 7AM.

Sorry you had to deal with that but RCL and other cruise lines are essentially moving the capacity of a small town on turn days. Not an easy feat. I'm shocked it is as stress free as it is. :)

  6. Oh yes. Lobster night is still in full swing on RCI. We just came back from AOS and not only was Lobster on the menu, in fact it was an option every night for a nominal fee, but they also brought back some old faves like escargot and (my dining room favorite) the Grand Marnier Souffle!

I was also excited to see the Onion Tart too, but then when I was brought a slice of Quiche Lorraine, although it was yummy, I was indeed a sad panda.

  7. To be honest with you, I really don't find the lobster that tasty!! We've been on 2 cruises and both times I was disappointed in what they called lobster tails!

Yes, and as a New Englander I should probably be carried off to the back and shot, b/c I think "Maine Loster" is nasty..but hey, that is just me..and as a whole, I don't even LIKE Maine Lobster anyways..give me a nice warm water Rock Lobster anyday of the week..

So that being said, I avoid "Lobster Night" so you can have mine anytime! I'd rather it get eaten by someone who enjoys them then have it go to waste.

And if this is how a man wants to enjoy his cruise then LET HIM. Besides, they are TINY small. Who am I to judge..there are more pressing matters in life, don't get your knickers in a twist over Lobster!

Now to the man's more pressing question of how much has one eaten.. well the most at my table was my husband who SOMEHOW put down 2 of those flourless chocolate cakes. Talk about a gut-granade...I was surprised he was able to float for snorkeling the next day...lol...and that was after 4 shrimp cocktails and 2 lobster tails...yow!

  8. Well.

You had me at Champagne...I hope AOS has this! Anyone know? From reading the posts it seems that certain "classes" of ships offer it, so since Explorer had it I am hoping AOS does too. Don't remeber it from the last time, but then again, my radar wasn't up!

I'd drink more champagne if I had this card..I always find it hard to pay almost $8 for a small glass of Moet..but half price yes yes yes! Usually I end of drinking Amaretto at the Champagne bar, eating the strawberries and the petit' fors.
