  1. We are booked on Cunard's Queen Elizabeth for Christmas this year. We booked this cruise as soon as they were released 5th April 2013. We opted for the free coach transfers from Yorkshire to Southampton instead of the OBC. We paid full price for this cruise and are happy with the price we paid for an oceanview grade cabin. I spoke to our TA yesterday to se if we also qualified for the extra OBC which is now being offered ($740). Cunard have said no, we are not getting it. We got 5% early booking discount, and 5% loyalty discount and the cruise itself has now gone up by £300 pp, therefore they reckon we got a bargain.!! It seems to me that anyone can now book the same cruise, admittedly they will pay more, but will get more OBC, so what loyalty benefits have we actually had different to someone who books now. This will be the last time we book in advance, hubby retires later this year, so we will be taking advantage of any last minute bookings. Carnival need to re think their loyalty to passengers, because it works both ways.!

  2. We have just returned from our 1st cruise with P&O, Christmas cruise on the Oceana and I was surprised by how many people dressed in casual clothing on an evening. By casual I mean, shorts, and jogging bottoms. I thought that most folks would dress up rather than down being that it was Christmas. On formal nights I saw outfits that would make you cringe. A red and black checked jacket complete with dickie bow. We dressed up most of the time, casual for us meant, nice trousers and a top for me, and hubby still wore a jacket and tie. Given that we are both in our 60's , that seems to be our code of dressing. Dressing nicely for dinner on a cruise is part and parcel of the whole thing in my opinion.:)

  3. I sincerely hope you regret your rude, unnecessary and obnoxious comment.

Don't bother responding to me unless you are apologising for belittling another forum user.

    Hear, hear. Well said Eastbourne.!!!!

I must admit when I read those comments, I felt embarrassed that someone new to cruising, came on here to ask advice, and got taken to task about their use of grammar. It would have certainly put me off posting ever again and it would make me wonder if this was the flavour of how things would be on a cruise.

locks84 - go enjoy your cruise, forget about the price, and you WILL meet some lovely people.!:D
