  1. Been a while since we used Regent with Air included.  Does Regent usually allow travel on different days.  What I mean is we always want to come in a day early and in some causes depart for home a day later than the day the cruise ends.  In either case we would probably pay for the extra day(s)

  2. Thanks Flossie!  We are "moving" down the deck about 10 staterooms due to our first cabin not being available for the 2nd cruise.  My main concern is "messing" up our changeover date as we want to explore the port as much as possible.  IF we could get a new key card before leaving the ship, we would have the whole day.  I'll take your advice and ask reception.

This will be our first B2B cruise in a place a LONG way away, thus avoiding 18  hours of flight time.

    • Each place setting should have a charger, and the chargers should be at least 2 feet from each other to allow adequate elbow room for guests.
    • The charger may be used as a place to rest name cards, napkins or menu cards prior to the dinner.
    • Salad dishes, soup bowls and dinner plates may all be placed on the chargers, but the chargers must be either replaced or wiped clean between each course.
    • Chargers are to be removed from the table after the main course and before the dessert. Chargers are never to be used during the dessert.

According the blurb above, chargers are to either be removed or wiped clean between EACH course.  A bit of a PITA for the waiters.  Also, NEVER to be used during dessert.

Personally, it doesn't bother me a bit that they are removed at the start of the mean.  That said, I wonder if they're then washed for their next use to prevent the spread of germs?

  3. WOW!  That would be great. If all that happens, it would be far better than any scenario I came up with.   I also read something that said on B2B booking, Regent offers day excursions for the port where the B2B happens.  Did you find that also to be true?

Thanks for your input on my question!

  4. We're booked on 2 SEPARATE cruises on the same ship, (each 20 days).  There was no cruises offered that combined these 2 cruises and we have different state rooms.  Does anyone know how Regent handles something like this.  We will have to vacate the stateroom on the first cruise and the second cruise leaves the same day later that afternoon.

Has anyone else done something like this?  What we're really wondering about is our baggage which in all likely hood have to be placed out in the hall the night before.  Does Regent offer to keep our suitcases in storage to be places in the new stateroom (down the hall)?  Or will we have to pick it up dockside and then schlep back to the check in baggage site.

The only reason I'm asking is that we don't want to be tied up with the baggage dockside if we can be doing something great like exploring the town.

And yes, as soon as we board the first cruise, I'll be asking the same questions, but a little fore knowledge would be helpful to prevent my wife from calling Regent and asking this question without getting a definite answer.

Also, is there some kind of guideline as to what you can ask for in the way of liquor in your cabin?

On a recent NY to Montreal cruise, the first day while moving into our room, our cabin attendant asked if there was some kind of liquor I would like. I said a bottle of gin and it was in the room later that day.  This is in a Window Cabin, lowest category on the ship.  Previous Regent cruise in a Penthouse, the butler ask the same thing except he provided 2 bottles (one gin and one Scotch).

I only drank about a 1/3 of the bottle if that and wondered if the rest went to the crew bar?  I had no desire to add the weight to my bag when we departed the cruise.

We like the Navigator, deck 5 window or deck 6 balcony.  Very stable up front and if you don't go too far forward the anchor isn't an issue.

The anchor is one thing I forgot to mention.  When we arrived at Bar Harbor which is tender anchorage, I was still in bed, only to be awaken by the most gawd awful "scraping" noise.  I was sure the ship hit some rocks.  The scraping noise went off and on for maybe 5 minutes.  I looked out in the hall, but no one seemed concerned.  Turns out the noice was the anchor going down.  Someone later told me the depth there was about 300' so it took a lot of anchor chain grinding way as the anchor dropped.

All in all, a great cruise ship.

Great review of cabins that aren't often mentioned.

Just one question if I may, do any of the windows open please.

HA, HA!   Sorry they don't.  There were a few times when the room got on the hot side.  It would have been nice to cool it down quickly with some sea air.   That said, if you don't try to crank the heat up, the room temperature was very comfortable.

Re my comment about about longer voyages on the Navigator, I only added that comment because I thought there might be a few more "out of the cabin activities" for those sea days.

  8. A review on the Seven Seas Navigator Deluxe Window Suites, here after only referred to as Window cabins, New York to Montreal. This is only my second cruise on Regent, my previous one in a Penthouse Suite on the Voyager, but I’ve done several other cruises on other lines including 2 on Oceania.

The Window cabins are 301 sq ft without a balcony.  These cabins are only on deck 5 and 6.  Deck 5 only has G and H Window cabins while Deck 6 has only G Window cabins on the port side while the Starboard side has only E Veranda cabins.  Strangely, there is a “crew only” walkway on Deck 6 outside of the Window Only cabins.  While I don’t know the pricing levels of all Window cabins, Window Suite 600 is almost twice the size of the regular Window cabins, 516 sq ft verses the standard 301 sq ft rating.  If you’re booking VERY early, it might be worth considering, asking for Suite 600 which I believe is the same price.

While I don’t consider myself a “big time” cruiser and have been mostly in Balcony cabins, I am very impressed with the size of cabin we had (608) G.  Very roomy with a walk-in closet, a bathroom with both a tub and a shower and the many other features most non balcony cabins AND some balcony cabins on other lines don’t have.  The cabin just feels roomy.  A feature I’ve never seen other than my previous “Penthouse” cruise are curtains to separate the bed from the seating area.  I’m a night owl who likes to read late while my wife long gone to sleepy time land.  With the draw curtains separating the cabin, I’m in hog heaven.

A lot of the outside room options like the library, coffee shop and others are on Decks 6 and 7.  Convenient to say the least. The Compass Rose is just one floor down on Deck 5.  There are only 245 Suites on the Navigator and for those who like a small crowd, it’s perfect.

IMO, this ship is perfect for shorter cruises.  Granted, for long slogs with several sea days in a row, a larger ship would be nice with more options and especially for warmer cruises, the Veranda Suite and above cabin which includes a outside deck.

If seeing crew members walk by the window bothers you, the Window only cabins on deck 5 would be better.  In our cabin on deck 6, the heavy curtains block out everything.  During the day, the lace curtains allow light in.  In our 10 day cruise, I didn't see one crew member looking in the window while walking on the crew only access deck except for the daily window wash down.  I assume they're instructed to keep "eyes" straight when walking on the deck.

AND only one floor away from the Craps table, but that's something I would rather forget about.

  9. Thanks Stickman,

I did see that pier on a scan of the port, but thought it looked a little schlocky for Regent. Looks like a short swim from your hotel or a bit of a taxi ride on the bridges.

I'm going to try for that hotel as well. We're doing a back-to-back around Australia on the Mariner and ending up in Singapore. 40 days.

    Bon Voyage on your cruise.

  10. We're on a Regent cruise from Bali on Jan 1st 2019. I can't find seem to find out where the cruise terminal is. One place says they tender there and another says the bay was dredged and there is a dock.

Anyone know where the terminal is. We're on our own and would like to find a hotel close by if possible. Our agent says Regent uses the ritzcarlton, but that sounds like big bucks for just an overnight sleep.

Any other hotel recommendations would be appreciated as well as the local of where the terminal actually is.

  11. Sorry Starflyr, nothing to input into your thread, but just wondered if you would be so kind to do a review of your Deluxe Window Suite after your cruise and whether you missed the balcony, as you never here these suites mentioned much.

Sure, if my senior mind remembers to do so. Most of the cruises we've been on had a private outside deck that I've never found too usesful other thatn in port. Too windy or cold when underway.

  12. We were just talking about the Istanbul to Dubai cruise - we loved it:D. Yes, we live in Bellingham ... not that far from you.

    What itinerary are you doing????

    New York to Montreal...

When I mentioned your user name to my wife Pat, she said "Oh, that's the couple that you took the ride in the sand with!" That was a "gas" sliding down the sand hills.

As you can see from my signature, you can see we're no where near your "water time". The last cruise we did was a Oceania from Honolulu to New Zealand where we picked up a 24 day land tour. Great trip.

  13. Hi and welcome to the Regent board! I am assuming that you are on the Navigator since that is the only ship with one specialty restaurant (Prime 7).

Hey Travelcat2, I think we were on a cruise few years back. The only Regent cruise we've take was from Istanbul to Dubai in '14. Are you from the NW? And yes, we're on the Navigator.

  14. Well, this time I'm down is "steeraage" on an upcoming cruise. Actually every cabin section looks very nice and we're in a Deluxe Window cabin. So, I get on the Regent website to reserve a dinner reservation and the only option I see is "Prime 7" which I made a reservation for. Then thinking I would grab another one or 2, the only option I see is Prime 7 on other nights is Prime 7. Maybe all the other optons are gone.

Does anyone know if Prime 7 is the only restaurant besides the Compass Rose that is available to Deluxe Window cabins? It appears that I can make a reservation in the Prime 7 on other days as well.

  15. IF you took a serious look around the dining room, you would see a lot of "senior" cruisers. I guess I should say I'm one about to turn 78. If the only option was a shower, I can see where it would be troublesome for some seniors to get in and out.

I personally don't have that problem, but it would probably be hard for Oceania to only have "selective" cabins with baths only unless they tacked on say $500 a week for a bath equipped room. That might keep the bath cabins available closer to sailing.

And then, there's the hot tub option...

  16. Don't understand what all the fuss is about not smoking. Every cruise ship I've been on has some area outside that allows smoking (Oceania included). I've NEVER been on ANY bus tour where someone smoked on the bus.

I'm a former smoker (22 years now) and the smell of smoke is unpleasant to be sure. I don't think smokers understand the stink. Their clothes are full of it.

I can almost guarantee that ANY tour unless it's in the middle of some dessert will have local smokers around plus the tour customers smokers grabbing a "hit' as soon as their feet hit the pavement (sand).

  17. not true

The last Oceania cruise lured me into the craps table. I don't remember if I pulled out money to play, but I did win somewhere between $50 and $100 and I'm sure they gave me cash for my winnings.

At least that's how this senior remembers it. :D:)
