  1. Our boat rental from H2O was wonderful. A taxi from port was $15 each way and we rented from 8:45-1:45- 5 hours for ~$200 plus $40 for gas and 5 sodas. Total for the day= $270. There were 5 in our family, so this was a bargain. We stopped at several beaches, snorkeled, went to the ship wreck, looked for sea turtles, fed the fish (brought bread and cereal from the boat), jumped from the bow multiple times and toured at our own pace: priceless. We had a great time.

  2. We’ve rented jet skis from Somerset Bridge which is at Somerset Bridge, of course, and that is a great outfit. We rented a Boston Whaler from H2O which is located in Mangrove Bay near Cambridge Beaches Resort and is much closer to King’s Wharf. We were staying near Warwick Long Bay so H2O was a longer bus ride for us. The reason we rented there is the boat was larger for the money. We found the staff - and the equipment to be excellent at H2O. I had one problem with the engine but that was my fault. We highly recommend this way of seeing Bermuda, and it is a great family experience and the boats are very safe. But research both to see what boat size options you have today. And the bus would be the cheapest transport. it’s a bit of a walk from the bus stop to the dock but not that bad.

As far as your itinerary, or excursion, they will help you with that and show you where it is safe to go. Take a lunch and stop on a spit for a private lunch!

Thanks! Decided to go with H2O for the larger boat . reserved 5 hours + extras for an early bird special for $190 in June. Seems like a great value for families! Will report back. :).

  3. Advice please. We have decided to rent a whaler while in Bermuda for our family of 5. But can't decide where to rent from. Will be on the NCL Escape in June. What is the best area to explore first and foremost? But secondly, what is the cheapest way to get all 5 of us to the boat rental facility? What do you recommend?

  4. Rented a car and had plenty to explore between Whittier and Anchorage! Stayed here: https://www.alyeskaresort.com/resort

Explored the Area with hikes and fun little stops along the way. Portage Lake, potter marsh bird sanctuary, Watching the tide and fishermen, spotting moose and eagles. Highly recommend this instead of heading straight to Anchorage.

  5. Hello. Planning our time in Montreal as our cruise ends there June 10th. Options include booking a later flight that day and doing a "quick tour." What would we do for a few hours with luggage? I am 40's- but my mom and aunts are late 60's and would have trouble navigating luggage. Could book a hotel for the night, (but would have to get up and get to the airport early to arrive home at a decent time for work on Monday.) So this would give us an afternoon/night in Montreal. What could we do, where would we stay?

looking through the posts, but a little confused about what will be happening in June 2017. Which pier? Are ubers an option? Any info is greatly appreciated!!

  6. My kids spent $300 in the arcade on the Breakaway. I blocked them from being able to buy anything this past cruise. (Wanted to block my husband too but it would block him from being able to pretty much use his card at all!). Still wouldn't go for this promo because the arcade is the biggest waste of money!

  7. Yes! We cruised Alaska in a cabin that fit 5 on the sun. It was on ocean view, however, not a balcony. It was tight, but we had a fantastic 2weeks!! There was a regular bed, a queen size couch and a bed that came down over the couch from the wall like a bunk bed. My husband, myself and 3 boys from 4-12 who are small fit nicely.

  8. Did a 2week cruise to Alaska on the sun in a cabin the sleeps 5. Had a GREAT trip. You are only there to sleep! My boys are younger(12,9,5 at the time) but that also meant I had to pick up their clothes. They loved the bed that pulled down from the wall. Would do it again in a heart beat, but just found a family suite on the dawn and will be getting all the bells and whistles with the current promo. That might be a better choice for you too!

  9. Can't answer your specific question because we did get on in Barcelona. But I agree with the others comments-the port is far from Rome. We did connect with some others on our roll call and had Excellent tour guides throughout the Italy ports. Our tour in Rome was phenomenal! I am sure they could work it out where they pick you up for a tour and drop you off at the boat if the timing is right or even pre cruise. We used http://www.driverguideservice.com. I would use them again in a heart beat.

  10. What about meeting a family on your roll call and making friends first? I thought of this because I have a 9 y/o who is super outgoing and makes friends everywhere. It would have been awesome for them to meet then go together, but we are on the breakaway in a few weeks and I see you are on the dawn.

  11. My 3 boys have been on a number of cruises including a 14 day cruise of Alaska where we all shared one cozy little room! We are headed back out in less than 3 weeks and every one of us is excited. In fact, that was the topic of dinner conversation tonight- "how many days til we cruise???"

It is what you make of it. We certainly don't close the bars down when they are with us, but we DO partake in all the family activities offered. We won slime time live on the jewel a few years ago. Another son was chosen to be the magician's assistant which he still talks about 3 years later. They try kids club at certain times, but not always.

Some of the fun things we found to do on sea days were exploring an unused room during an off time. I have some awesome pictures of my boys when they were little -tottering around the spinnaker lounge. Go to the library and read books. Eat during off times if you worry about noisy kids. Have a picnic in your room then head to the pool while your room steward cleans it up :).

It has certainly gotten easier as they have grown up (now 13,9 & 5). But we started when the oldest was 18 months old. I love cruising with them more than just my hubby and me! I now have seasoned and world traveling children who better take me with them when I am old and gray :)
