  1. This is your vacation and you have every right to take your infant as the other flamers who responded have to drag their grumpy selves aboard. A commercial cruise ship is a public place, and although you asked for opinions (and got an earful) don't let anyone tell you that you can't.

That being said, many of the comments are valid. There will be no activities specific for your DD. The pools will be closed to her. Babysitting is probably not an option. You may have to retreat to your cabin in the middle of dinner, spoiling the meal for at least two of you.

You've been on X. You know the ambiance. If you want to bring her along, DO IT.

Great to see a comment supporting babies on board. Yes we have sailed X ships the majority of the time.

I guess I should ad th

  2. Put me down in the "do not cruise with such a young baby" group.

As it was mentioned, your baby is precious to you - but not necessarily to others who paid money for relaxing to ocean sounds and not a crying infant.

    Think of others.

We would never disrespect others relaxing cruisers, if our baby cries which she does sometimes as babies do, we will remove her from the venue until they are ready to go back.

We also pay money (including our babies portion) for our relaxing ocean sounds.

    Enjoy your cruise and relax.

  3. I love it, all the baby haters. I say go for it, we are elite plus X cruisers and will be taking our 11 month old on their first cruise this November. It's your family vacation and make the most of it. Will it be different then your other cruises of course, will it be challenging at times for sure but make the most of it. We travelled with ours at three months on a 6 hour flight to Maui where we spent 21 days. The trip was different then our previous 8 holidays in Maui but it was amazing, getting to spend time with your family enjoying your child's many firsts added something even more memorable to our trip.

As for the numerous no baby's in pool comments, when a baby pees in the pool they have no idea what their doing. But let's not kid ourselves what excuse does do the adults have when they pee in the pool?

Enjoy your cruise as our family will enjoy ours.

  4. We try as a family to use the public restrooms as little as possible...our general feeling being, despite all the efforts of the cruise line, they are more likely to be areas of possible contamination.

I would stick with own room where possible and a quiet 'el fresco' with your own changing mat when needs must...

Have a wonderful family vacation, don't worry too much about the little things about travelling with a little one just 'go with the flow'....

Thanks for the advice, our thoughts were sticking to our cabin as it's simple and clean. She is already a seasoned traveler and thus far has been great.

  5. No doubt you were on a river cruise for those particular experiences. Hard to do with the 'big ships'. An idea could be to add local entertainment booked through the countries being visited; on and off the ship same night at each port. That would provide a local experience. Can't see how the dining/market shopping would work though.

We had the same experience when we cruised with Holland America in the Mediterranean, after each port that evenings dinner featured a local traditional dish.

With planning X should be able to include this idea

  6. My wife and I have been on 8 cruises including Scandinavia, Mediterranean and carribean. However this time we will be joined by our 11 month old daughter, for the life of us we can not recall if there is change tables in the public restrooms. We never had to look before so that's our excuse for not knowing. Can any of the cruise critic world provide an answer.

We will be on the equinox this November.

    Thank you

  7. Don't know and really don't care whether you actually ever consumed one of the delicious concoctions at the Molecular Bar, but what made it unique is that the mixed drinks were NOT made with standard ingredients. Does your local watering hole serve drinks made with fresh grilled pineapple juice, agave nectar, passion ginger foam or hibiscus essence? Didn't think so......so Mr Merino has every right to license the specific ingredients to each drink he has come up with.

To compare what they serve at the Molecular Bar to the tuna casserole your mom made...that's absurd.

It's only the names of the drinks that he has licencesd. Even though junior was one of the first to make molecular cocktails popular he is not the only one doing this. You can go to many bars in middle America and get the same thing and even better.

Maybe a better comparison for you would be the cronut.

  8. Hi all,

I am currently on the President's Cruise in Singapore for the next 2 weeks, and may be a little delayed in some responses. With that being said, we are looking into this.

Fun, exciting cocktails is modern luxury. Why get rid of this great original bar at sea.

  9. We have never used the Molecular Bar. It's location is a bit strange in the M class ships, which we primarily cruise on.

Also, we drink beer and wine except for a martini now and then. We do like the Martini Bar.

The location might be strange on the M class ships because they are ONLY on the S class ships. Maybe to many beers to remember which bar you were at. Don't worry I am the same way so, I use a ball of yarn to find my way back to by stateroom.

  10. Speaking with a friend who works as a trainer with the molecular bar, they confirmed that come May the molecular bar will be closing. Sad news at its our favourite place to spend every night pre and post dinner..... Good thing we have a 18 night transatlantic coming up to enjoy it one more time.

  11. Hi All' date='

We are cruising to Hawaii and the second last port of call is Maui.

At the end of our cruise we would like to spend a week on Maui.

We wondered as the departure from Maui is 11pm, if Celebrity would let us disembark in Maui rather than going on to Oahu and then flying back to Maui.

Is this possible do you think?

    Thank you

    Chris[/quote']

    Hello,

We are doing this for our up coming 18 day solistice transpacific cruise. We contact our travel agent with the details of the dates we depart and rejoin the ship as well as disembark prior to final port, our travel agent then contacted Celebrity. Celebrity approved this request with our travel agent whom then provided us a letter from celebrity's emergency travel team "Predown line Request" section.

We might be on same cruise.

  12. Looking at the possibility of staying DIY overnight away from the ship between to nearby ports of call. We have stayed overnight away from the ship while the ship also stayed in port overnight without any problems in the past.

In this instance, the two ports of call (Kona and Hilo) are less than 100 miles apart and staying overnight would allows us additional time in the Big Island of Hawaii.

If you are comfortable with doing sightseeing by yourself and have stayed overnight away from the ship between two nearby ports,... we would appreciate knowing how you set it up with Celebrity and any other thoughts or suggestions you may have.

    Thanks, :)

  13. And switching lnes will somehow fix this??????

I have NEVER heard any of these complaints when onboard any ship with any line, only in places like this. Maybe I've just been lucky, I also don't see it as my job to try and police what others do about tipping or dress codes or smuggling booze on unless any of those things impact on my cruise.

The answer is really simple the lines can include the tips in the price, as a number of ships do in UK and Australia, or make the tips non removable, but of course they won't.

Your right when you say you never heard any of these complaints when onboard but just on here. I agree with you 100%, people on here are only the minority of any cruise ship. It's a place where one can rant and rave on their own soap box.

  14. Thanks for the replies. I will contact Celebrity directly prior to our cruise.

Should we also confirm with someone once onboard? If so, whom?

  15. Getting started with the trip report soon. I did a blog while travelling which also has pics. Unfortunately for you the blog is in German. But it has a "translate" button so you may want to switch it to English. I know Google Translator´s English is even worse than mine but you might get an idea. For your convenience I will highlight some activities here on CC in "my" English and give you a link to that part of the blog.

Whete is the link to your blog?

  16. No Noro on either cruise.

I had the same problem on both ships, Constellation and Silhouette. I wasn't brave enough to put on the underwear or socks. :D

I have experienced this in the past as well but other times no issues. I'm sure it has to do with the laundry detergent that is used.

  17. We are sailing on the solstice once again on the transpacific and are hoping the music is played loud by the outdoor pool. It makes for a great day of catching some sun and dips in the pool.

  18. The "best" red wine I've seen by the glass on a Celebrity ship is a Cayamous Select 1999 I think (year may be off). Price was in the wine machines in Cellar masters and those machine measure pours. I think on the high end, a glass was $50.

Each restaurant has a different wine list and availability by the bottle and glass. They will very, very often have wines available by the glass not on any list, which in my book is great. If you know what you want and know it is onboard, they will fetch you a wine from somewhere else.

Finding out what is being served now, maybe be pointless, it could easily run out, and not be restocked as they chose a replacement.

They have an excellent wine list of cabs including wines like Cayamus, Nickel and Nickel, La Sirena, Screaming Eagle and many more in even higher price ranges. The above wines range from roughly $120-$180 onboard which of course is more than retail, and less than a restaurant I was recently at. My guess is you'd be happier just ordering a bottle of whatever you'd like, drink what you want, and finish it off at lunch or dinner the following night. They'll keep it for you and have it available.

I understand you haven't sailed Celebrity in a while, and are looking for the best value you can get out of your suite, MC experience and beverage package. However, I would just recommend you go in with less expectations, let the sommeliers know your preferences and make suggestions regarding what is onboard. If it costs a few more $$, so be it.

    Happy sailing,

    Jenna

Um if you paid $180/bottle for Screaming Eagle then congrats as you consumed a fraudulent bottle no matter if at Sea or Land you will never find Screaming Eagle for such a low price. Must bottles start at $1500/$2000.

  19. It all depends what good wine is to you, a bottle of two buck chuck might be the best wine you ever had and you might not like the tasting notes of a $4500 bottle of scream eagle. Either way take the time to tell your sommelier what you enjoy and your price point and they will help you find a glass you will enjoy.

Celebrity cruises has once again been recognized by Wine Spectator as having the best wine selection at sea.

  20. is there are maps available on the boat when it comes to the ports (Athen, Rhodes, Santorini Mykonos). ?

Ou will get a basic map of each port from the Celebrity Dallies that will be delivered to your stateroom each night during turn down. If your really keen once on the ship head to the library and find a tour book on each port.

  21. It all depends on your comfort level. For us we have no issues leaving our camera and belongings on shore while we take a dip. We have done this all over North America, Mediterranean, Scandinavia, caribbean and shortly Australia and French Polynesia. Like a poster said earlier if your concerned keep your ship card, money and credit in a pocket while you swim.

Welcome to cruising and cruise critic, don't get discouraged with the various complaints you may see on this site.
