  1. It's discretionary. Of the 10+ RCI cruises we have taken, we have received OBC in only two ways. We bought it (actually cashed in points from our RCI VISA card), and we received some as a gift from our TA.

I'm guessing RCI might run some promotions that include a certain amount of OBC with a cabin booking, but I am not sure about this.

  2. Anyone in the past have any information if the Bowl Games will be broadcasted?

We were on LOS last year and they didn't have the GA-AL game on and lots of unhappy people.

    Thanks

I don't have any specific info ....... but it appears YOU do!?!? The only sporting event you are assured of seeing on a cruise ship is the Super Bowl.

Be hopeful of seeing anything else, but be prepared to miss it.

    The factors involved are:

    1) ACTUAL channel availability.

    2) The willingness / expertise of the crew to search for a specific game.

    Good Luck!!! :)

  3. Just back from Vegas. We asked what benefits were available for us since we are diamond on Royal. We were told to cruise more and get to diamond plus! We are gold at M already so no benefits!

Really? I have not used either or benefits (just did my first cruise and booked my first trip to Vegas at the MGM) but you should have benefits even as gold C&A. They are not like to die for benefits but I guess its better than nothing. I think the person you talked to was just lazy :p

What happened to 'ssimon' sounds correct. They are Diamond C&A which converts to Gold MLife ...... but, since they were already Gold MLife, they were told there are "no benefits". I think what they meant was there are no ADDITIONAL benefits. As a current Gold MLife, they are already receiving all the perks & promos that go along with that level.

We are also Diamond C&A ...... we went to the Players counter at the Bellagio and were given Gold Level MLife Players Cards.

  4. We're Emerald with RCCL and just got our MLife cards. When we first went up to the players club counter to pick up our cards, we mentioned the reciprocal agreement with RCI and the lady helping us didn't know much about it.

So ...... all you needed was your RCI number? Did you need to tell the person you were Emerald, or were they able to determine / verify your status?

We are also Emerald and are heading to Vegas in a few weeks. I don't think I've ever had an RCI card (does such a thing exist). I didn't know if I need to try to get RCI cards before we go or if our ID numbers will suffice.

In Vegas, we play mainly at CET properties, but like to wander. If I'm at a MLife property, I might as well be getting as many perks as possible.

  5. The definitive Beer Bag Response:

What part of "Hit & Miss" do you not understand??? :D :D

So for every question asking " Sailing on the ______ of the Seas next week. Can anyone who just sailed tell me if they had the Beer Bag?"

As far as your cruise is concerned, it makes NO difference if they had the bag or not!

    So, here are specific directions:

    1) Board Ship

    2) Go to Pool Bar

    3) Ask about Beer Bag, if answer is "No" skip to #5

    4) If "Yes", fill bag enjoy, repeat

    5) If "No", buy bucket, pay regular per beer price, enjoy, repeat!

My work here is done!!! :) :)

  6. On Independence, they look forward and we had mostly calm seas so it was little different than the Y at home. On Splendour, one day we were experiencing some rough seas and the treadmills looked to the side. It was really interesting. The roll of the ship built in a little hill work -- felt great.
Love the treadmills that face forward ....... I think that view is a really cool. Anytime on a ship's treadmill you never really get into that comfortable zone ..... but, I'm just there to knock out a few miles and then get back to the fun ! :D
  7. On the Indie the chairs around the track were tied up in such a way that they could not be moved onto the track.
I'm guessing the chairs were tied down as much or more so they wouldn't blow or be tossed overboard at night than in respect to the running/walking track.

I see the track / deck as a multipurpose area which as I stated earlier should be and is available to runners / walkers most of the morning, but becomes more of a pool deck in the afternoon.

I guess we will just have to agree to disagree on this one. :)

  8. Not trying to start anything here ....... but as a former runner (10 marathons) AND experienced cruiser (10+ cruises), I'm going to have to side with the those trying to grab a deck chair, even if they have to move one to where it obstructs part of the track. We all know that the chairs are wedged in there WAY to closely, and that sometimes on sea days getting a chair can be a little rough. Add to that the fact that the direction of the chair you find might mean your back is facing the sun ...... means the chairs need to be moved.

So ...... IMHO ..... get your run in early because after about 11:00 or so, we sun worshipers are taking over. Or....... and as a runner, I know it's a bad word..... but, go hit the TREADMILL !

  9. the 1st 2 - 3 nights tend to pay out more - don't know if it is our imagination or not.....
It is your imagination and one of the older "urban myths" of cruising... that is that slot payouts decrease during the week. It's just not practically possible. Some friends and I shared a catamaran excursion with some of the ship's dealers and a casino manager a few years ago... and we had a good laugh about this one. :D
  10. I've always been a little confused with the Cozumel piers as I've seen them called or referred to with various names. (downtown, punto...something, etc.)

The downtown pier is right by the main shopping district & Carlos & Charlies! We docked at this pier when we were on the Disney Magic. However, when we were there last November on the Navigator, we used the other pier. At that time a Carnival ship was right next to us. The two piers are a few miles apart, so if the Carnival ship you mentioned is not in the same area as your ship you will not be able to see it. If it is, it will be right next door!
