First of all do you have a confirmed solo reservation for the Divina? Solo rooms are not always available.

There are no paid shows on the Divina.

You link your room key and credit card at numerous machines throught the ship.  No big deal.

Not familiar with airport to pier shuttles.  We always fly in a day early and stay at a hotel that has airport pickup.  The next day we uber or Lyft to the pier.

Always bring your own extension cord and there is no self service laundry on the ship.

    Have a great cruise,

    Thanks CarolnLarry!

The solo booking is available online, I'm booking tomorrow.

    Any hotel recommendations? Thanks!

  2. Hi Cruisers,

I'm considering a solo 7 day cruise in April on Divina. I've seen good and bad reviews and I'm am experienced cruiser on Carnival and Norwegian.

I can't find any info on airport transfers. Do you buy them as an excursion from MSC, or arrange your own? Any advice on getting from/to both MIA and FLL? Unsure which airport I would fly into.

Miami hotel recommendations? Especially helpful if no ship sponsored transfer, one with shuttle to pier.

What is this "linking your room key to your credit card" at a kiosk onboard? Don't they just do this for you at cruise terminal check-in?

How much do the paid shows cost and opinions whether they are worth it?

I use a CPAP, will housekeeping provide an extension cord or do I need to bring one? Or maybe the plug in is right by the bed.

Is there a do it yourself laundry room on board?

    Thanks!

  3. Couple questions, I cruise from Port of Miami on 1/20.  I was originally going to try and test local.  The condo I am staying in in FLL has a CVS and Walgreens within 2 blocks.  HOWEVER, I can only get a test there if I remain in my CAR and I won't have a CAR!  So has anyone done a test at CVS/Walgreens in Miami / Ft Lauderdale area where you walked in?  I asked my local store in Missouri and they said they don't want ppl coming in because they probably HAVE Covid.  But we are doing pre-cruise, it's different.

So in the meantime I ordered the proctored BINAX NOW test to be delivered to where I am staying.  How long does it usually take to ship?  I got it from Optum online.

Is this testing stuff stressing anyone else out?  I am also cruising solo for the first time so I don't have anyone else to share the stress with!

We will definitely make appt for as early in the day as we can. May try CVS too. Thank you for responding.....hoping we can get this testing bit done in Springfield in a timely manner so we can continue on to New Orleans! As a back-up, are there other testing sites in Springfield?

We have Mercy health and Cox Health hospitals and urgent care. So yes, there are several options. Good luck! I have driven between Spfd and NOLA several times for cruises.

None. Unless you are flying to Canada or other countries that require it.

    off topic:

On May 3, 2023, U.S. travelers must be REAL ID compliant to board domestic flights and access certain federal facilities.

This keeps getting extended, check your state requirements and their starting dates as it’s different everywhere.

Thanks, Fred! I got my real ID and also have my passport 😀

SPRINGFIELD MISSOURI CRUISERS !! We will be driving to New Orleans for cruise on Saturday, January 15th, and are planning on getting as far as Springfield on Wednesday evening. Our plan is to be tested Thursday morning in Springfield before we continue on to New Orleans. Yes, there are several CVS and Walgreens in town- does anyone have any info on any of these places for testing - good or bad? Or a suggestion of other places in town to test? It's stressing me out...lol!!

Our Walgreens here in Springfield get pretty backed up for rX fills, etc.  I would definitely make an appointment.

solo occupancy is always more. it might be better to leave everything as is. put in your sister name and when you are at the terminal checking it, do not worry about it. they will mark it as a no show. you will then get back a small portion of port taxes and fees

    Thanks, good idea!

  8. Hi, I'm looking for some advice. I am cruising Freedom in Sept. When I booked I told the cruise consultant i may go solo or someone might join me. My sister will go IF her work loosens travel rules. CCL booked me as a double with 2nd person TBA.

If I want to change to solo, would I just do it at final payment in June and they'd drop the second port charges?

Then we have a couple months til sailing, so if things change can I add her after final payment?

I got such a killer rate, 7 days OV for $170pp + port chg, I just don't want the rate to change on me if I change occupancy. SO MANY uncertainties!

    TIA,

    Cruisy-Suzy

  9. I love the idea of a free pool at the port. I've been to Grand Turk a couple times and the Margaritaville pool by the pier is fantastic!

How does the Costa Maya pool area compare to GT's pool? Size, crowds, amenities? How far is it from CM pool to a (not too rocky) beach?

    Thanks!

  10. Splendor has the Tandoor open at lunch.

Conquest doesn't have a Serenity deck.

splendor might as well not have a serenity deck due to crappy windy location and smokers. I have cruised on both and would choose Conquest due to much better deck accessibility and layout.

  11. I booked an IS on Splendor with ES. You need the check rates once or twice a week and see if there are price drops where you can upgrade for free. During a 3 day sale in August I noticed an Ocean View rate for the same price we paid for our IS, so we switched. We could still choose our cabin, which is important to me....been burned with a 'guarantee cabin' before and ended up under the galley.

After the sale the OV prices went back up, so it pays to be diligent.

  12. You used to be able to get a coupon for a free (tiny) margarita at Margaritaville if you found the salt shaker on their website and clicked on it. Anyone know if they still have a free drink coupon and where to find it? I did sign up for their newsletter in case they do any offers that way.
