    I live locally...

Unless there is more than one Celebrity ship docked at Fort Lauderdale/Port Everglades on the day you embark , it is likely that Equinox will be at Terminal 25...  If there is more than one Celebrity ship at the port that day, Equinox may be at a different but nearby terminal [with 26 or 29 the most likely possibilities]...  Terminal assignments are very clearly posted at the port security entrances but are also available online at the Port Everglades website--with accuracy; before that terminal assignments are best estimates/can and do change--a week before you sail...

All of the major car rental agencies have a significant presence at Hollywood/Fort Lauderdale International Airport which is located just a very few miles/minutes from the port...  That said, you will need to take a taxi between the airport car rental facility [one large parking deck serves all of the major companies] and your cruise terminal...

Security at Port Everglades is very strict as it serves as the depot for distribution of petroleum/fuel products from Key West to the Orlando area...  Be prepared to show your Xpress Pass or cruise reservation--perhaps along with your Passport--as your driver passes through one of the security kiosks to gain entry into the port area

    Thank you for your response.

I know you said that security is tight but is there a car rental drop off at the port and if so what company would be closest to Terminal 25?  We are renting the car for convenience, so don't really want to be messing around dropping cars off at airport to go back to the port.

    TIA

    Meg:-)

  2. Hi,

We will be hiring a car for a few days before our southern Caribbean cruise on Equinox in October.

Please could someone advise me as to what terminal the ship actually docks and which would be the closest rental company to the terminal.

    TIA

    Meg x

  3. Couple of different things taking place here.

If they posted all of those things while onboard, it might have balanced against other charges. But, you might not have had extra charges - like the DSC which I think is prepaid/billed when from UK.

And, if they had not posted those credits yet, they would have to do it later.

Tell us more what was on your bill.

    Hi

DSC was prepaid plus I had also pre booked and paid for the excursions. I had $300 non refundable OBC and UBP, so I was $300 in credit before I started.

At he end of the cruise, due to compensation for an item that got broken and 2 shore excursions I had to cancel due to illness my closing balance was $225 due back to me, which I was led to believe would be refunded back to the card I registered.

Since posting my original query I have called and spoken to someone at NCL who explained that they can not refund guests from the UK in that way and have taken my bank account details and assured me that the money would be refunded directly to my bank by August 4th :')

Hi, I was under the impression that the amount due to me would be refunded back to the card I registered at the start of the cruise.

Is this not the case and would it make any difference that I'm from the UK?

  5. Hi,

I returned last Tuesday from the Getaway Baltics Cruise and due to falling ill and having to cancel a couple of excursions plus compensation from an item broken by the cabin steward my final bill was $225 in credit.

Has anyone else had experience with being in credit at the end of a cruise and how long on average have you had to wait for the money to be refunded back to your card....

    TIA, Meg:cool:

  6. You can catch a train to Stockholm. Others threads have detailed information. Below is what I printed out for myself:

"At the end of the dock is a small TI office. Inside you can purchase a day pass that will cover the train to/from Stockholm + metro/bus in the city + ferry route from Gamla Stan to Djurgarden where the Vasa Musuem is located. There were 2 lines, one for cash and one for credit card. We paid by credit card and were on our way in less than 5 minutes. The cost was 120 SEK pp, ended up being $27.46 on the card. Your also given a paper with how to get to the station with the train times going/coming back. Back outside, you follow the blue line (or yellow, same distance) to the station. You board the waiting train!"

Thank you for the detailed information.

I'm still not sure how comfortable I would be venturing so far on my own but It is something to consider if NCL doesn't put on a "Stockholm on your own" excursion:cool:

  7. Thanks for all the feedback. The cruise ship offers transportation that drops you off 'at a dropoff point close to the major look landmarks'. Does anyone know where that is exactly? Still considering Vasa on our own' date=' but want to know what we are in for. Thx.[/quote']

    What sailing are you on?

We are also on the Getaway (July 9th sailing) but I can't see an excursion option for just the transportation.

I'm hoping it will become available to book once on board... I'm not confident enough to take the train and none of the other options include the ABBA museum 😎

  8. Hi I was able to upgrade quite easily with no cancelling or loss of money.

I got a family suite for just a little more than our mini suite.

I'd also be interested in an upgrade for my Baltics cruise in July...Did you do this through your TA or directly with NCL and how far off your sailing date were.

    TIA, Meg😎

  9. I thought a comparison would be interesting, so yesterday I looked at my Escape cruise I'm taking in October- it was £979 in a midship balcony (we paid less but booked ages ago). Today the price is actually showing the same- but like said above when you actually do a mock booking this goes up to £1079. So a £100 price increase which actually pretty much covers the cost of grats, water and coffee. So not a bad deal until you consider that yesterday you would have recieved a 2nd free at sea offer- so based on the SDP you are down about £60pp over booking yesterday.

Using exactly the same website as I booked with, I have done a similar comparison for the cruise I recently booked for August 18 on The Spirit.

    Deck 5/6 outside picture window

Price I paid was £1,599pp with UBP & $200 OBC

Today's price £1,599 for premium All Inclusive.

I'm not a coffee drinker and happy to drink the ships water so I've gained $200 but is cancelled out as I still have my DSC to pay.

  10. Yes, I think we saw the same thread. We seem to visit the same threads. :)

I have an early flight because someone in our group, plans on going to work the next day. It would have been nice to see Copenhagen. Our dilemma now, is whether to take a taxi from the port to the airport, or rely on NCL transportation. And it ain't cheap![/quote

I believe you're on the same sailing as myself.

Hopefully by then, someone will have posted what the disembarkation is like in Copenhagen.

Personally, I would pay for an NCL transfer as it would cause me too much stress worrying that there wouldn't be a taxi available😎

  11. Does anyone know if this also works if your DD turns 18 while on the cruise? Going to Bermuda (drinking age 18) and DD turns 18 while there. Just curious...;p

Although we will be on a Mediterranean cruise where the legal drinking age is 18 but my 19 year old has only been given a soda package. I just assumed that whilst on board we would be governed by US drinking laws.

  12. Hi,

I have recently booked a cruise for my daughter and I next August which includes the UDP.

At the time of sailing my daughter will be 19, so due to US drinking laws she will only be allowed to consume wine and beer.

My query is, when I log on to My NCL, it only has my daughter down for a soda package, will this be upgraded to the wine & beer package once on board or will we have to pay for any wine she may want. Also, would cider be included as something she can consume.

    TIA, Meg:cool:

  13. Hi, Meg 67

From what I have read both deck 6 and deck 8 have issues so you will have to determine, by reading reviews and knowing your sleep patterns, if either deck is a good fit for you. I found a review here on CC from someone who stayed in 6018 and loved it. Search for Reviews NCL Spril and put in the cabin number Good luck.:

    • Forward on Deck 6 of the Norwegian Spirit, exterior cabins 6500- 6530 port side, 6000- 6030 starboard, and inside staterooms 6503- 6519, 6521- 6533, and 6003- 6019 are under the casino, where there could be late night noise issues. If you are light sleeper, you may prefer to find a cabin elsewhere on the ship.

    • Best cabins to consider on Deck 8 of the Norwegian Spirit are 8550- 8553 port side and 8050- 8052 starboard. These will be a bit quieter because they are not over the casino bar area.
    • The rest of the staterooms (8500- 8538 port side, 8000- 8038 starboard, and all of the Spirit's Deck 8 inside cabins) happen to be right over the bar and casino. This could be a noise concern until very late at night.

Thanks for the info....... Would I be better off by going down to an outside on deck 5?

    TIA, Meg😎

  14. Hi, I have just booked a 10 day cruise on the Spirit for August 2018 and could do with some advice on deck and cabin choice.

I am currently booked into an outside picture window cabin located on deck 6 forward (cabin 6018) but toying with paying a little extra for a slightly larger outside on deck 8.

Looking at the deck plan, I am currently directly under the casino but if I moved up to deck 8, I would be directly over it, so my question is, apart from a slightly larger cabin, would I reduce the risk of noise from the Casino by being above it rather than below it.

    TIA Meg😎

  15. Hi,

I am looking at a Caribbean Cruise, sailing on MSC Fantasia early next year and was wondering if MSC offer an open dining option, or do they operate the traditional 1st & 2nd seating option.

    TIA:cool:

  16. Hi all,

I am a relatively new cruiser, so apologies if this comes across as being a stupid question but I am interested in the opinions of all you NCL experts.

I am due to sail on the Getaway this July to the Baltics, which I am very much looking forward to.... However my query is, does the Getaway actually suit a Baltics cruise.

Although I am really looking forward to sailing on her as I love the big ships, with all the fun things that she has to offer on top deck, she seems like a ship that is best suited for a more "Fun in the Sun" kind of cruise.

With it being the Baltics, even in July, I'm not counting on spending too much time in my swimwear and with only 2 sea days and long tiring port days I just can't imagine that the ship's outdoor facilities will be that well used.

I look forward to reading other peoples opinions
