  1. SHIP: Reflection

    CABIN #: 2176

    DECK #: 12

    CLASS: Sky Suite 2

    AREA: Starbord, mid

    BED NEAR: Bathroom

QUIET?: Some noise from Seaview above...but not as bad as some have posted. Just some carts wheeling about early morning...but nothing that woudl wake us up.

BALCONY VIEW: Overhang from deck 14 above, and support beams for said overhang got in the way

    BALCONY SIZE: standard

    WIND A PROBLEM?: no

    SOOT A PROBLEM?: no

PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: It was great to have a sky suite, but I would not book this cabin again. Being an avid photographer, I felt constricted by the overhang and the support poles. I would book an aft next time around.

  2. Hi there,

Your review is so fun to read...and I'm glad you had such a great time. We're headed out on an Eastern Med cruise on Reflection in August and can't wait. I'm a meeting planner by trade, so I completely relate to your planning obsession. I'm the same way...and it drives my hubby crazy - but he always gets a great vacation in the end because of it!

Anyway, I just have to say, from one photo buff to another...I am LOVING your pictures. You've got a great eye!

    Looking forward to more!

  3. I can't imagine sailing on one of the ships that does not have a full promenade deck and an open bow. For us they are requirements.

I second Tioga's statement about an open bow. There's nothing better than being out "front" when cruising through the glaciers.

We went to Alaska in '06 on HAL...swore we wouldn't sail with them for a while (just due to our ages...being in the "younger" demographic profile)...BUT, my mother-in-law decided she's treating the whole family to an Alaska cruise in 2012. Where did we end up...HAL Westerdam. I LOVED that HAL has access to Glacier Bay, and that they open up the bow. Also, the ships are a tad smaller than some of the others...and that played a big role for the decision as well.

Another hint, go to cruisecal dot com and you can see which ships will be in port with you the same day. That also helped the decision. I avoided sailings that had 5 ships in port at the same time. I think there's a small subscription fee for the site (like $3 or something). It used to be free :(

Anyway, now I can't wait for this trip and am looking forward to giving HAL another shot. It also looks like they've added some really cool and exciting shore excursions...

  4. Hi everyone,

We booked Victor's tour for our June cruise and thanks to this board...we requested a couple different guides. Victor just confirmed Tex will be our Roatan escort. It sounds like he's a good guide...so I hope we have a great day.

Now to figure out what exactly we want to do when we're there.
