  1. Our son is studying for the bar and extremely stressed about missing a week of study. We are going to buy the unlimited package and its $224 if I buy it by midnight tonight (June 1st). If you were just on a cruise this past few weeks - can I buy it cheaper when we get on board the first day?

    Thanks so much.

BTW - I did do the forum search and found that you can get discounts but it wasn't clear if that was from the very beginning of the cruise.

    Thanks!

  2. I'm alway curious at the posts about the 'terrible' food. Exactly what are you used to eating? I understand they are cooking for thousands at a time and in that regard they do an excellent job. I'm not a bad cook and enjoy preparing dinner in the evening when at home. On the ship I look forward to the variety of choices at dinner. If something wasn't to my liking (that didn't mean it was terrible, I just didn't enjoy it) they always were kind enough to offer me another option. At home, dinner is dinner, lol - there are no options if it's not what you wanted.

We enjoy the dining experience, slower service gives us time to enjoy the meal and each other's company. I really don't like when i'm out to eat and 30 minutes after I sit down the bill shows up on the table.

As far as towel animals, they are cute and a fun treat when I get back to the cabin after dinner. But truly, I'm just happy there are towels that are clean and hanging, I live in a house full of boys. Our room stewards have always been so nice and helpful...you'd be amazed at how far a few kind words and appreciation can go.

You are on vacation. Enjoy the experience, meet new people, learn new cultures and make the best of every situation. You could be at home on the couch watching re-runs of House Hunters and eating pizza that was delivered.

    :D

Just to give a bit about my cruising experiences, I have been on around 20 cruises from Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Holland America, Celebrity, Cunard, and Norwegian and find that every cruise was a great week away and I can never wait for the next one.

  3. We just booked with Ken with Northern Lights for a fishing trip mid June. Talked with him on the phone and he was very nice. Told us in Mid June we will most likely be looking at only King Salmon.

Our kids are super excited for the trip!

  4. We are docked from 1 to 10pm. Our plan is to take the Blue Shuttle to the Visitor Center and see that on our own. We have a Whale Watching Tour with Marv & Harv at 4:20 to 9:00. They have a great reputation and we will get a more personalized tour than the ship's tours.

BTW, we are on the Celebrity Solstice stopping there June 16th.

  5. We are scheduled to arrive in Juneau at 1:00 on the Solstice, June 16. The 2:20 tour is full, but there are spots on the 4:20 tour. The ship doesn't sail until 10pm, so we would get back in time. I'm just curious if anyone has done the later tour?

  6. When we cruised on Carnival, we had the option of booking a Chef's Table dinner that was a small dining experience in the kitchen with a menu created by the head chef. During the meal the Head Chef was there explaining the meal, taking you on a tour of the galley, and answering questions. It is amazing and a must do for a foodie! We are sailing on the Solstice and I would love to know if this is an option that Celebrity offers.

    Thanks for any information!

  7. I just booked our family (10) on the Magic for January 2013! Gonna be such a long wait, but will be worth it. I didn't think prices were that bad. We got 4 cabins (1 balcony and 3 inside) for $7000. That's just $700 a person for a week! How can you ever beat that! Can't wait to see actual pictures and reviews from those you are on her right now!
