  1. I have this same concern, it was suggested on another board that if you test positive on a rapid test to order one of the Air Canada tests online, either the Lamp or the PCR so that you will have an official positive test result for travel.  There are places that you can pay to have a PCR but in doing some research they want you to be asymptomatic.  Also, not sure if you contact your doctor and explain the need for the positive test if they couldn't arrange for you to have a PCR?

  2. We decided to cancel our Feb 13 Royal Caribbean cruise over the weekend.  Too many changes happening with ports, would rather go next year when hopefully things will be better.  I don't have any issue with travelling, just got back from Florida this morning from a short 4 day trip, and am planning to use my week in February to do a little Disney trip and another visit to my parent's Florida house....just would prefer to wait to cruise.

    Is Peterborough bad?
Northumberland had a big jump today , but there is an outbreak at Warkworth Pen , which is probably the cause of the larger numbers

Yes it’s getting bad.  There were a hundred cases reported between today and yesterday, that’s a lot for us, but there are probably hundreds more because there are not enough tests to be able to be booked.  We are already at double the highest number of cases that we ever had in the pandemic.  Just need to avoid all people until we leave for Florida on Saturday!!

  4. I'm still on the fence for our Feb 13th cruise.  We don't have FP until January 14th.  I'm flying to Florida on Saturday for 3 days to visit my parents with my sister, if that goes well and I feel relatively comfortable I'm thinking we will go ahead with it.  The way Omicron is tearing through my city right now I feel like I'm lucky if I will be able to make it to Saturday without getting it!!  Being so careful.  We are doing rapid tests before we go even though we are flying out of Buffalo just to make sure that we aren't going there with it.

  5. I haven't heard of anyone crossing the land border yet that has had to take a test and quarantine. It is definitely a possibility that it will start happening soon.

This thread listed above has lots of info,  we are waiting for more people to return.  I'm doing the same as you in February.  The other big concern now is that there have been reports of people getting the test on cruise ships and running into issues at the border because to cross back the land border it specifically states that you need to have been tested within the last 72 hours in the US.  It appears to be a few isolated incidents, other people have crossed with ship tests no problem.

I'm waiting to hear on more reports before I make a decision on whether I will do the Royal test on board or wait until I get back to Buffalo and test there.

  6. Oh great, another thing to worry about.  This is absolute insanity.  We get a PCR test onboard the ship on Saturday, fly home to Buffalo Sunday, drive across the border and there is a possibility for them not to accept the PCR test because it was done in the wrong location?!?  As long as the test is in the timeframe it should be acceptable.

These people that write these policies really don't think of all of the possible scenarios.  I'm getting on the ship in the US, having the test done when we are literally on our way back to the US,  that's a US test as far as I'm concerned.   I would love to see how these charges ever hold up in court.  Let's not forget the purpose....how does not accepting the Celebrity test increase the risk of Covid...it doesn't!!!!

If this actually becomes a thing, I just won't bother with free PCR on Celebrity and just go to Walgreens in Buffalo when we get back.    I would love for people to continue to post about their experiences returning home for this aspect as well as the random soon to be all arrival covid testing and the quarantining.

  7. Royal Caribbean - antigen test within two days of embarkation.  We plan to have our test done at Shoppers on Friday morning, drive to Buffalo, fly out Saturday stay over in Miami then use that test to board on Sunday.  Royal at this time will give Canadian cruisers a PCR test on board seems like on the 2nd last day that you can use to re-enter Canada.

  8. I understand that you are deemed to have visited that country if the ship ports there but really in terms of the point of the test and the Covid risk if you don’t get off the ship you haven’t been “in” that country.  I will list the countries and do whatever is required but I hope that everyone that is driving across and back for a cruise sooner than me has some clarity of what will be required before they go,  I have until mid Feb to get a game plan sorted.

  9. This issue is that when you go on a cruise you are in other countries, although I would argue that if you don't get off the ship in a foreign country have you really been there??  The on arrival test requirement is for anyone who has been in a country other than the US or Canada in the last 14 days.  My ship goes to Bahamas, Puerto Rico, St Thomas and Labadee (which I'm sure will be sustituted), if we only get off in Puerto Rico you could argue that we never left the US.

  10. Just noticed that the govt website has been updated to say coming soon  anyone arriving to Canada by air or land that has been outside either the US or Canada in the last 14 days must have an on arrival test.  Still officially has the old rules but will they be setting up testing centres at all land borders??  I was hoping that this was only going to apply to air travel.  Flying in and out of Buffalo. I wonder if they will address cruises travel specifically.

Can anyone tell me if there is still a Maragritaville at Falmouth port, and if its similar to Grand Turk location where you just walk to it right off the ship and has a big pool area you can just stay at for the day?  Thanks!

They have one, it's within walking distance, but the last time we were there it was no one near as nice as the Grand Turk one was.   it's smaller, and it was dirty, hopefully things have improved.  It's worth checking out but I wouldn't get your hopes up.
