  1. That is what my original booking said - and I remember the PCC saying it was Travel Zoo. It was the special they had running in March this year' date=' 3rd through 8th person free. [/size']

Travelzoo and Kids Sail Free are two different promotions that have nothing to do with each other.

  2. - During the stop at the private island, one of their party didn't get off the ship. When they decided to eat, they had to pay for whatever they ate because NOTHING was open of the complimentary nature. This was the latest thing she mentioned to my wife yesterday (not sure why she is still complaining after 6 months). Although I have never stayed on board during a stop at any of the private islands we've been to, I find this highly unlikely.

This one is my favorite! The Epic never went to Great Stirrup Cay (NCL's ONLY private island) for as long as it has been in the fleet.

Does she think ALL islands in the Caribbean are "Private"? She is upset she had to pay for food???

    Hysterical!!!

  3. The people you call at NCL are very nice, but are almost completely clueless when it comes to the "product" they sell. You get better information from past travelers than from NCL.

Um, maybe the OP got someone who was new and wasn't quite sure. If all of NCL was "completely clueless", how is NCL still in business?

There's speculative and contradictory info in this thread just like most treads on CC. I'd argue that many CC posters are mostly guessing. The prize goes to which person can figure out who's right and who's blowing smoke.

  4. I suppose if you like hitting golf balls, at sea would be an awesome place to do so. He's entitled. As a travel agent I ask you this? Has NCL ever advertised that they have a driving range on any of their ships? I have never seen this but since you must see a lot more brochures, ads etc. you might know the answer.

I have no problem with him hitting his golf balls into the sea as long as he is willing to pick them up afterwards and not pollute the ocean. (Same for smokers who can't use ashtrays.)

  5. I think it's presumptuous. If you meet and make friends on the cruise who wish to join you for dinner, that's one thing. But to wait until you get in to the dining room to impose yourself on others is inappropriate.

What if you you are like me and incredibly uninteresting? I would hate to impose my company on someone. If they invite me first, then it's their choice.

  6. If you are parking at the port, some (New Orleans for example) will ask to see your documents before letting you into the parking garage, and the porters there also asked to see them. I think that is the only time anyone ever asked to see it.

There's parking across the street at the Hertz building. It's half the price and you don't have to show any cruise papers.

Also, you don't HAVE to bring any papers except your passport. The edocs speed up your check-in, but everything is on the computer. And, before all the "experts" at cruise critic disagree with me, I went to Venice on the Spirit in 2012 with nothing but my passport.

  7. In general, the Sun has bigger cabins than the other ships in NCL's fleet. I was in cabin 8101 a couple of months ago and the interior space was like a balcony on the Breakaway!

The Sun class ships are also unique in that there are cabins that will accommodate 5 passengers without having to book a suite. That's what cabin 8105 is. It sleeps 5 and is about 175 sq ft.

  8. After 20 years in the restaurant business I can say the following:

    1. Always over tip.

    2. The establishment can determine whether or not tips are pooled and it's none of your business. The employees know the score. If the are providing excellent service and they know tips are pooled, they provide the service because that is the kind of person they are.

One person does not good service make. Many people work behind the scenes that helps to make that person good at what they do.

Again, it's none of your business.
