  1. I thought you can always upgrade after final payment. Ex - if you paid $3000 for a balcony and after final payment mini suites dropped to $3000 you could call and upgrade to that cabin. Is that not right? That is possible on CCL, Celebrity and RCI.

That's what I understood too. I've never cruised with NCL before though...only Celebrity.

At any rate if the large balcony cabin has lounge chair(s) and a dining table and the mini suite just has the regular chairs and the small side table, I'd stay with your original choice. I like being able to lay down, nap, eat and/or sunbathe (prob not your time of year!) on my balcony.

I'm torn because I don't know how much time we'll be spending on the balcony but I like the idea of bundling up in a blanket and having a coffee of glass of wine out there:-) I'll likely end up keeping the extra large balcony but would love to hear more about the mini suites:-)

  2. I have a somewhat subjective question for you experienced Epic cruisersJ My husband and I are currently booked in a large balcony cabin cabin with a 97sq ft balcony…SCORE;-) Since we booked the prices have dropped and we could book a mini suite for slightly less than we paid for our balcony. Our cruise is the Dec 9th mediterranean cruise out of Barcelona. We realize it will be cool outside but we are Canadian and it doesn’t bother us too much;-) Hubby really likes having a large balcony but I like the idea of an extra large shower! How are the balcony sizes? Any larger mini suite balconies? What would you do? Is the little bit of extra space in the mini suite noticable enough that we should give up the extra large balcony…keeping in mind that we aren’t going to be spending tons of time out there? Again…I realize this is very subjective. Thanks!!! :D

  3. I was having trouble yesterday checking in a well. We're just under 90 days from sail date. For some reason it wouldn't retain my passport expiration date. I tried multiple devices and browsers. Safari and Chrome would not work but hubby tried using Firefox and it worked fine. Good luck!

  4. Hi...I'm looking to book a flight from Barcelona to London after we disembark the Epic. I've found a great flight that leaves at 9am...do. You think if we walk off with our own luggage we could make a flight that early? I'm assuming we would have to be there for 7am. I'm thinking that is cutting it too close? Thanks!!!

  5. DH and I went on our first cruise a few years ago and we fell in love with the whole concept- kit and caboodle. We still find it a "bargain" when we look at the luxury we experience on a cruise.

We have just returned from trying another line, enjoyed it tremendously, and we will be sailing in a week and a half on a different line. Our last NCL experience was on the Sun in Feb., and we then booked the Breakaway for next year. The Sun was a beautiful ship and trip.

I love the convenience of unpacking once, the service, the food and the variety of choices while being on the ocean travelling the world.

There are too much negative things to worry about in this world right now. When I think about an upcoming cruse it makes me happy- EVEN with all of the changes that may occur with policies and such. I hope we will be able to continue our love affair with cruising into our silver years.

Just wanted to say something positive for those who may be trying cruising for the first time. I still get the excited feeling before a cruise and want to tell others who may have never sailed- a cruise, like any other thing in life is usually what you make it to be! ;)

Thank you for this! We just booked our first NCL cruise a couple of weeks ago having only sailed twice before on Celebrity. I must admit reading all of the posts from upset cruisers has been a bit of a downer for me and has made me wonder if we made a mistake booking with NCL. In the end I realize I am very excited about the cruise and will have fun no matter what!:D

  6. Hi, hubby and I just booked our first NCL cruise and we have the UBP. I understand that this does not include bottled water. Wondering if we should bring a case of water on board with us or simply fill our water bottles when needed. What is the drinking water quality like on the Epic? We aren't super fussy we just want to make sure it doesn't taste bad😝 Thanks for any advice😀

  7. Thanks eigig We are definitely looking at the UDP and As for Aqua class we booked because of Blu as well. From what I've been reading here the Spa amenities available with the Spa cabins seem much nicer than Persian Garden on Celebrity. I'm very torn...just don't know if it's worth the extra cost. I love Celebrity but I must admit we were a little bored on our last cruise. Not much happening in the evenings. We sat at the Martini bar most nights Looking forward to a change of pace with NCL!

  8. Hi, hubby and I have never sailed with NCL before and our considering the Dec 9th Mediterranean cruise on the Epic! We have only ever sailed Celebrity Aqua class and are wondering what cabin to choose on the Epic. Is the Spa access worth choosing a Spa cabin or would we be just as happy with a balcony or large balcony? Honestly we chose Aqua class for the access to Blu we didn't even use Persian Gardens. I also have a dining question.... If we purchased the ultimate dining package on Epic can we book each night once on board or do we need to prebook each night prior to cruising? Thanks!!!!

  9. I've adjusted a drink calculator I found here on the message boards in order to figure out what we would spend on drinks with and without a package. Just plug in what you think you'd drink in a day and compare it with the cost of the package below. You can look at the per day totals as well as the full length of the cruise. You must also fill in the length of the cruise.

I've used average costs for beer and wine...there are obviously more expensive beer and wines available. Feel free to adjust the prices of the drinks as well as I was going from memory of my last cruise which was over 1.5yrs ago:-)

    Enjoy!
