  1. My DW and I did the 10-day round trip out of FLL a few years ago--second Princess Cruise, and did not have any issues (our cabin was a balcony, but not a mini-suite). We did ATD, but we generally eat early so not an issue with lines (we too do not like the buffet). As for tendering, if you have an excursion booked through Princess, you will get off in plenty of time-most ports were not tendered.

I did not see anyone "Flouting" a black card.

Is there a chance you may have to wait a bit? perhaps.

As for embarkation, it is more dependent on when you arrive, as there will be a lot of other "non-status" cruisers on the ship. Disembarkation might be a bit later unless you do the walk off, which will get you off in plenty of time.

If the itinerary is one you like, and you are willing to relax on the cruise, you have not made a mistake. The Coral/Island are both good ships (In fact my father is currently on this cruise getting back tomorrow).

  2. We have booked two balcony cabins (B232 and B234) on the Coral for next summer. Are the cabins arranged similar to the layout on the Emerald (which we just sailed)...in other words as you walk down the hallway, every two doors are side by side...then a gap...then two more doors, etc. (since each pair of cabins are mirror images) I am hoping that our two cabin doors are side by side.

Also...is there any way to know for sure if the balcony divider between the two cabins can be opened?

Hopefully this post makes sense! :) I realize neither of these questions are super important...I am just curious.

To answer your first question, B322 and B324 are adjoining. (See photos). As for your other question, I cannot say.

Sailing on the Jan. 8th sailing (saw your post on the roll call there as well). Will try to rememebr to snap a photo of the cabin entrances and post upon return. Probably won't be able to tell you about the balcony divider though.

  4. I had D418 on the Island last November. I loved that location. It was mid-ship on the bump-out and had a mostly covered larger balcony. I could see forward and aft. It was very convenient to mid-ship amenities. If you plan on being on your balcony for part of the transit, I highly recommend a cabin on the starboard side. The port side gets the morning sun and can be very hot while the starboard side is in the shade. I enjoyed breakfast on my balcony during the transit and it was very comfortable.

I was wondering about the sun. That is helpful to know. Not sure if my DW will like being "exposed" from above on the "D" balconies though.

  5. My DW and I are about to book a RT Panama cruise on either the Coral or Island. I realize they are virtually identical ships, and have visited the wonderful website (http://mysite.verizon.net/res76zxu/princessbalconies/) showing which cabins are covered, partial, etc.

What I would like is personal experience as to best locations for this specific cruise from previous Panama cruisers.

In other words, do the bump-outs provide a better view, and how exposed, really, are the larger balconies on the lower levels.

    Thanks for any help.

And yes, after one sailing on Norwegian, we are looking forward to being back on Princess.

  6. While I recognize this is an old posting, it is extremely useful. My DW and I are about to book a RT Panama sailing for New Year and to celebrate her birthday, and this was just what I was looking for to choose a cabin.

One question for anyone who sailed RT Panama out of FLL - is there a preference of Port or Starboard for the transit? Also, do the bump-outs provide better vistas than the other balcony cabins?

    Thanks

  7. We're sailing on the Ruby early January, room R607. Appears to be under Horizon Court buffet, aft of the pools. Anyone stayed there or (or similar) and have thoughts to offer?

Just returned from our cruise last Sunday. The room was not too bad. There was no congregating in the Laundromat area, and we were behind the pool area above, and we did not hear much noise from the horizon court buffet. My DW is a light sleeper, and she never complained. Also, my DW and I are not sun worshippers, so the overhang from above made the balcony feel more private and less direct sun.
