It's nice to see this thread is still alive after all these years, and some of the folks I know are still posting (Hi BDJAM :-) ) I've been on a hiatus from cruising for a few years, and just moved from Cali to Florida. Booked a 9-day RCI cruise out of New Orleans, but it's not until December of 2013, so guess I'll have to get more active in Cruise Critic to pass the time...Ted

Yes, it is an unusual day for SF. Three ships to see: Sapphire Princess and Radiance making stops on their way north, and Infinity starting it's voyage here. We will be heading to the dock to board the Infinity for an 11 day Alaska cruise. This will be a great way to compare ship designs and sizes (though they are all about the same size). David
If you dine in the United States restaurant let me know how you liked it. One of my favorites. :)

Busy day this Monday, May 10th. 3 ships in port...on their way to begin the Alaska cruise season.

I'm glad you got to see it, Andrew. Unfortunately, too much work kept me from getting down there

As info, the Cunard Queen Victoria will be in town Wednesday, Jan 27 from 8:00am to 6:00pm while on her World voyage.
While it won't be the party the QM2 was back in 2007, I still plan on seeing QV when she's here in a couple of weeks.
Let's hope it's a nice day here in SF for viewing the newest Queen!

I think it was scheduled to depart today for Long Beach.
-
Should have come for a visit - I was on one of them.
The Golden Princess, Brian??? Gee, I always thought of you as a "small ship" kinda guy...LOL. Hope it was fun.

2 ships in port today. Anyone planning to visit Pier 35?

I'm booked on a Panama Canal cruise in April- 14 days Ft. Lauderdale to SF; it will be so nice to end a cruise at "home" :)
-
Andrew, sorry I missed wishing you a Bon Voyage for your Med Cruise. Please check in when you return and let us know how it was :)

Hi guys, I hadn't checked back here in awhile and thought it was 3, not 3:30. I did show up but left when I thought no one else decided to show, which was right around 3:30. IF a gathering took place, hope you all had fun. :D

I'll try to make it over to The City that day. The East Bay contingent of this group has been awfully quiet lately :)

I agree, jjb415. In all my cruises, there has been nothing more thrilling than the times I've sailed into SF Bay or left from Pier 35. We are all so fortunate to live here. :)

Hi all...hope everyone out there is healthy and happy (and planning cruises!) :)
-
Paulie, hope you two have a great time and let us know how it went when you get back. :D

Jack and I went out to SF early this AM to watch QE2 sail in. WOW! Beautiful liner.
We've uploaded some pics:
Thanks for taking and posting the pics, Ed. She's a real beauty :)

Anyone planning to go see her?

We're counting down the days before leaving for Honolulu next Wednesday for our Serenade of the Seas cruise. It's sooooo hard to concentrate on work right now! :D

Yep, I've been wearing out my camera this week! Tomorrow, it's Mercury, Zuiderdam, and Norwegian Sun.

Brian P-
Since it doesn't look like we'll be getting together before you leave, best wishes on your move to VA. I enjoyed meeting you at Martuni's and the emails we traded while you were at Wells. Have a great cruise on the Mercury, and keep in touch! :)

Hmmm, I'm not sure if I'd prefer a tight upper..., or a tight... bottom Well never mind :-)
Treven, too funny! :D
If anyone's looking for a little 3-day getaway cruise up the coast, Celebrity has really discounted the prices on the Infinity SF-Vancouver on June 1st. I've been watching this for awhile and finally booked it Friday.

Sorry we missed saying goodbye for your Noordam cruise. Looking forward to hearing all about NYC and Noordam when you return :)

Ed/Jeff,
We've done the cruise up and Amtrak home thing and as I recall, the train leaves Vancouver around 6 at night and gets into Seattle around 10, but the Coast Starlight leaves the next morning, so you'll have to arrange overnight accomodations in Seattle. It's a nice way to come home, though I'd advise springing for a higher class sleeper cabin, as the lowest class has bunk beds and that upper berth is kind of tight.

I heard Pier 27 was being remodeled. Is this in the works?
