  1. Thanks everyone!  The agent had her thinking she had to have four tests: one to get on the land portion, one to get on the ship, one to get off the ship at Vancouver, and one to get on the plane.  She also told her not to buy from the link that RCCL provided and just buy them off of Amazon.  The agent seemed to be not sure of herself and had to keep looking things up and even told her she wasn't sure herself.  That through my mom into a tailspin of worry!

Yep, three tests unless the US lifts the test mandate to fly back or RCI changes the testing requirements.

So she needs a test to get on the land portion of the cruise, a test to get on the cruise, and a test to go from Vancouver to the US.  What about the cruise ship to Vancouver?  Does she have to have one to get off the ship too since she's coming from Alaska to Canada??

  3. My parents are leaving next month for a land/sea Alaskan cruise.  She got an email from RCCL and is confused as to what they are required to do with Covid tests.  She called RCCL and the agent didn't seem to know what was required either and did nothing more than stress her out more.  From the email, I gathered that they have to be fully vaccinated, a PCR or antigen test must be taken no more than 2 days prior to their land tour, and they have to order a test to take with them to get on the ship.  Is that correct?  The agent told her they would also have to take a test to fly out of Vancouver to get back to the US.  That doesn't sound right to me.  I appreciate any help you can provide so that I can put her mind at ease.  TIA

We were onboard at 10:55. If you check in via the app, and scan your passport, you will have “expedited” boarding, bypasses several lines. Obviously boarding started early because there were a sea of people on the promenade when we boarded. We actually got into the wrong line on the second level of the terminal, which probably added a good 5 minutes to the process.

The additional “health screenings” consisted of the check in agents asking three questions.

Easy peasy..... first pina colada in hand 🤗

Do you remember where you scan your passport on the app?  I can see where you take your picture but not where you scan your passport.  TIA

What a great idea!  I just ordered two.

I always bring a small backlit battery-operated clock and set it somewhere I can see from the bed.  I wake up often in the middle of the night and it's nice to see the time without fumbling for my phone.

We got two of the bottle carriers for my kids when we went to Disney World.  We would always freeze bottled water to take in the parks.  My DH and I just put ours in our travel bags while the kids used their carriers.  Their bottles stayed cold all day long and sometimes still had a little ice left in them!  We've decided we're buying some for us the next time we go.  Warning though.  You may need to leave them outside to air out for a day or two.  They really stunk at first.

  6. I don't mind at all.  It helps the wait staff be more efficient.  And, if I need to get to a show, I'm not anxiously waiting for them to show up and take my order.  And, if I want a slower paced experience, I can linger over dinner taking my time to eat each portion of my meal.  The staff are extremely accommodating and will adapt to your speed and desires.

I'm also one of those people who knows what I want weeks, if not months, in advance.  It's no different than when we visit Disney World and want to eat at specific restaurants because of certain menu items that we love.  If you don't get reservations months in advance, you are out of luck at a lot of venues.

We did take the ferry for the trip to the secret river I would say 80 percent of the ferry was sick they did not start passing out barf bags until it was way to late the smell was something else I do get seasick but had on the patch my husband who does not get sea sick said you could never pay him enough to take that ferry ride again. It has that name for a reason.

Where were you sitting on the ferry?  I wonder if that had anything with it.  I definitely plan on taking some Dramamine that day.

Most people do not get sick.  I have ridden it a dozen times and only twice were the seas rough, and only on one of those trips did I see someone seasick.  Wind will make the seas rough... so if its choppy the boat will rock.

The only way to counteract this is to sit in the middle of the boat, and to be careful what you eat prior.  Don't eat greasy foods, lots of coffee or acidic foods, OJ, etc.  Don't stare out the window, try to keep your head level and relax, talk to your friends, distraction is the best remedy.  Ginger ale is the best drink, and yes they serve beverages on the ferries.  Prices are reasonable.

have fun...  it is worth the trip.

Thanks for the info!  It's good to hear someone actually had a good experience.  I've been going back and forth on whether to cancel our excursion but there's really nothing else that we want to do that we haven't already done.  And Rio Secreto sounds like it would be fun and different.

  9. We'll be in Roatan first week of March on the Harmony.  We plan on going through Rony's for a snorkel excursion but I'm not sure which excursion to pick.  We like to snorkel but don't care about doing it all day.  We don't care anything about sitting on the beach for hours.  Is there one you would recommend for just 3-4 hours of snorkeling?

  10. Thank you for the information.  I was not away that it was primarily a beach port and nothing else.  Sounds similar to CocoCay.  Maybe we'll just go out for a short walk and go back to enjoy a less crowded ship.

  11. We've done ruins, snorkeling, and don't care to lay out on the beach.  We don't drink so we don't care to hang out at a bar all day.  What is left to do?  I don't see much on the ship excursions.  Is this a port we should just stay on the ship?
