I used this when taking advantage of the free air promotion.  Flew from DC to Miami for free.  I was worried about flying in the day of the cruise, but there wasn't any problems.  At the time I booked, they required you to book a hotel thru them if you wanted to come in a day or two early. Now, they don't require the hotel anymore, just a $25 per day fee, which I would have gladly paid.  I didn't have any problems though.  I made out good with flight times

This is great news!  I've got $99 airfare booked from OKC to Miami for our October 2020 cruise on the Joy and I've already been stressing a little about coming in the day of the cruise.  I wonder if they will allow you to leave a day or two later after leaving the ship, for the same $25/day fee.

Also, do you know if the fee is per person or per booking?

    Thank you!

  2. These are the same perks (all 6 for balcony and higher) that have been offered since at least December when we book for our Oct 2020 cruise on the Joy.

Per my TA, NCL put out a notice to them that the current perks we see today are gone as of midnight tonight.

Who knows what they will be replaced with but I do know that NCL has been playing the "hurry before time runs out..." game for the past few months.  Now it looks like they are least getting ready to change things up a bit.

Typically, NCL is finishing up Alaska or New England/Canada cruises in September, then re-position those ships late September or October.   Since September is THE MOST ACTIVE Hurricane season month, it makes sense that NCL would choose itineraries that avoid the most likely hurricane target areas!

Perhaps it's the repositioning of ships because there are Caribbean sailings (Eastern and Western) in Sept 2019.

Bktok I hope you win this battle.  The add on expenses just keep on adding up.  With NCL you had to book hotel through them.   I could have booked the same hotel for two of us for $145.00 on my own   Maybe you will have more luck with a TA.

Well, my TA just got back with me and confirmed that the hotel pricing is per person.  He even said that was way too pricey.

Guess I will have to live with coming into Miami the day of the cruise as the airfare being offered by NCL is way better than I can get out of Oklahoma City.  I just hope I have some flexibility for that departure day.

Also have free/reduced air from Colorado Springs to LAX for $99 plus $40 in transport.   Coming in same day as cruise which scares me. Was told I could come in day before if I booked a hotel.  Listed at $145 on NCL web, NCL representative quoted $155 EACH.  Nobody charges each!   Ridiculous, this will add another $400 to cruise with food.  Really struggling to justify peace of mind. As of now still coming in day of cruise.  I missed my very first cruise in 1992 due to fog in.

    Charging each is ridiculous.

I have 3 people on my reservation and I guarantee we aren't going to pay per person if the room can accommodate 3-4 guests.

I've asked my TA to look into how much a room in Miami would cost.  I'm hoping it's just a flat rate and not per person.

  6. The PCC I just spoke with also confirmed that since my booking has the current airfare perk, the only way to deviate from the current flight itinerary would be to book a hotel through NCL.

This is a  bummer as it makes me nervous to fly in the day of the cruise but the airfare is such a great deal, I may just have to live with it.

  7. I figured ... just wanted to make sure.

We had 9124 booked last time, and the bed was by the balcony. If you look at that diagram, and go by that, you can tell which cabins are also like that.

Yeah, I've looked at the diagram and not sure if the indent refers to the couch or the bed. I guess I always thought it was the bed.

  8. On the deck plans, the indent indicates the position of the sofa, as the bed is at the wides part. 9130 seems to have the indent near the bathroom, which suggests the bed is near the balcony.

It's a while since I've had to work it out, but I think that's correct.

Hmmm...I always thought the indention was the bed position. Lol

  9. Thanks for the reply, Keith!

Yeah, I'm fairly confident about the bunk bed, I just prefer the main bed to be by balcony. I have a difficult time reading those layout "maps" sometimes, so I wasn't sure if 9130 was laid out like that or not.

  10. We are booked on our second cruise on the Getaway in May 2018 and this will be the first time in a large balcony.

We are currently booked for cabin 9130, but I was wondering if anyone knew of any specific large balcony cabins that were deemed better.

We want one that has the bunk bed and I'd really like for the main bed to be be close to the balcony but all of the diagrams, spreadsheets, etc that I have seen all show the couch being by the balcony.

    Any suggestions?

    TIA!

  11. Hello everyone! My wife and I are looking to plan our 15 year anniversary cruise for mid 2018. Any idea on when NCL will release more itineraries for 2018? There are only 40 some cruises listed for 2018 as of right now.

I just looked back in my emails and for our June 2016 cruise, the itinerary wasn't announced until mid-December 2014.

I'm looking for mid-2018 dates too and I'm assuming they will release those dates sometime in mid-December.

    :D

  12. I cruise regularly and use a CPAP machine. Distilled water is usually available if notice is given. Check the specs label on your CPAP machine. Just about every machine made in the last 7 years is universal voltage, anywhere from 100 volts to 240 volts. Some also work on 12 volt DC for airplane use. The only difference is the plug incompatibilities.

Be careful with the 110 volt outlets in cabins, they are usually only for shavers and low wattage devices. Many CPAP machines have heaters for the humidification, and the heating element may exceed the capability of the 110 volt outlet. But, as noted, if you just bring a cheap US blade plug to European round prong adapter, and a short extension cord, any universal voltage CPAP will be fine. Each night, I fill the reservoir with distilled water, roll out the extension cord to the desk where the outlets are located, and plug in.

I recently contacted my PCC to advised that I would be using a CPAP machine and would need distilled water in the cabin.

When I asked about reserving an extension cord (which was an option on DCL), she said they (NCL) recommends bringing your own 4ft cord. 4ft? That doesn't seem long enough. Granted, I only have DCL as a reference point, but I'm inclined to believe that most ships have the same configuration and the only true outlet is by the desk. On DCL, we needed at least a 20ft cord.

I don't mind bringing my own, I just want to make sure I bring one that is adequate in length. We are sailing on the Getaway on June 5th and staying in an aft cabin.

  13. Sorry for the duplicate post. Not sure what happened.

I'm not a big drinker, but I chose the UBP because I'll have two 18 yr olds with me and they like to drink soda (as do I) and soda costs $$$ on the ship too.

Sure, we could bring our own soda, but for us, that's just a hassle and one more thing to lug around before embarkation.

So for us, based on the soda factor, we went with the UBP.
