1. We are booked on a cruise which has not yet been cancelled.  Since cruises are now cancelled until a few weeks before ours I am probably going to cancel our cruise before final payment is due.  I know that if our cruise is not cancelled by then I will have to forfeit our deposit, as well as the money we paid for our trip insurance policy.  However, if Royal Caribbean subsequently cancels our cruise will they refund our deposit.

  2. For our December 2015 cruise my husband and I had a suite on Anthem of the Seas so we ate dinner at Coastal Kitchen a few times. We loved Coastal Kitchen's food, service, and ambiance.

We recently booked a three generation cruise on Oasis of the Seas with our daughter's family. My husband and I booked another suite, but our daughter's family booked two regular cabins with a connecting door between them. If we eat dinner one night, without the children, will our daughter and son-in-law be allowed to eat dinner with us at Coastal Kitchen?

  3.
Anyone want to comment on the differences between the two cruise lines, Celebrity and Holland America? We have cruised many HAL cruises, now booked with Celebrity for our next cruise. What should we expect? Cheers!
gwilli - I would suggest posting the same question on the Holland America board to counter the bias of posting it on the Celebrity board.
  4.
X better... no way, celebrity needs to test their drinking water/ lemonade, as there is a microbe or norovirus in their water.... as per my doctor this has been proven. Food on board ( unless you pay ALLOT for eating in blu) is very run of the mill whereas hal is gourment and made fresh for all guest!!

    Hal it is!;)
bellarosa- if a microbe in their drinking water exists, wouldn't the CDC make it mandatory for Celebrity to do something about it?
  5.
Perks are nothing.
    The ship is everything.

Afternoon tea for everyone on Eurodam may be better than a special party for "Brilliant members" somewhere else.
cruisetrail - I agree with you. We are elite on Celebrity and diamond on Royal Caribbean, so if perks were that important to us we would take all of our cruises on these two cruise lines. However, we sail on many other cruise lines, even though we don't get perks on them. We are more concerned with the ship itself, amenities available to all cruisers on them, and itinerary.
  6.
Now it is looking like the Med in June.

I asked the husband if he could take 2 weeks off in June next year because a friend of ours is also looking at this cruise and he said he thought he could.

Next thing I know he's telling me there are Sunset Veranda cabins available and we should get one before they are gone!:D
I have done both cruises, more than once. If you are able to take the cruise in June I would recommend the Mediterranean one. However, if you can only take it in August, I would go to Alaska, instead. Mediterranean cruises are very port intensive and the August heat in that part of the world will make you feel like quitting shore excursions in the middle of them.
  7. This thread illustrates how much traveling has changed from years ago.

During the seventies, we took a flight on American Airlines from New York to San Diego. When we got to our hotel in San Diego, I noticed that there was a crack in my luggage, but to my pleasant surprise, there was a note on the claim ticket attached to it. "Damaged at JFK" with someone's initials after it. I then called American Airlines, and they told me to bring the damaged luggage to their service area at San Diego airport. When I did, they apologized for the fact that it happened, and asked me to leave my damaged luggage with them so they could order an exact replacement for it. That new piece of luggage, identical to the one that they damaged, was delivered to our hotel room in San Diego a few days later.

  8. We were on the Equinox Dec 12th. We had no recogizable problems. When you get up in the morning do you immediately make your bed? Tired of reading how bad everything is on Celebrity. Maybe some people should get a life and look at a half full glass. If you don't like it don't go.

Mr and Mrs Bee - To answer your question, at home I do make my bed as soon as I get up in the morning. My husband started making breakfast for me 38 years ago when we were engaged and still does. So he gets up before I do and then I make our bed as soon as I get up in the morning.

To get back to the topic though, on every cruise we have ever been on (including Carnival, NCL, Royal Caribbean, Holland America, Celebrity, Italian Line), our bed was made while we were at breakfast, and I would be very disappointed if I came back to my cabin after breakfast and it wasn't.

This is just my opinion, but it is obvious that the OP doesn't speak English and I think it is rude to mock this person for not expressing himself well in a language that is foreign to him. Have you ever tried to converse with someone in a foreign language while traveling. I have many times, but fortunately the other party was usually very understanding of the language problem.

  9.

Ocean Dancer, so sorry to hear that happened to you. Did you have the option of saying that date wasn't convenient for you, without a specific reason, and choose an alternate

Not quite sure I understand your reply, this was at least 10/12 years ago. I had a cruise booked to leave in two weeks, then I got a postcard for Jury Duty. I called them and was told to have my TA fax our confirmation for the cruise, which I did. Didn't hear from them for several years. The defendent and the lawyers were all in the same room with all of us in a balcony type area. The defendent could see us and I guess reality set in as he pled guilty. We did not know what he was guilty of and were sent home.
Ocean Dancer, glad to hear that you were able to go on that cruise. I once had a similar situation and a cruise was not one of the listed excuses. However, I did have the option of selecting an alternative date for jury duty, with the stipulation that I would not be able to get out of the alternative date I selected. That is what I was trying to say in my original post.
  10.
No No No, dear!!!!!!!!!!!!! When you have your TA cancel your jury duty because you are within final payment of your cruise!!!!!!!!!!!!! My true story!!!
Ocean Dancer, so sorry to hear that happened to you. Did you have the option of saying that date wasn't convenient for you, without a specific reason, and choose an alternate date, that you could not get out of, for jury duty?
  11. We're planning to cruise Celebrity for the first time and I was just wondering if they had a program similar to Princess with outdoor movies at night. TIA, Heather

No, but when Royal Caribbean renovated Radiance of the Seas they added an outdoor movie screen to that ship and are planning to do the same with other ships in their fleet. Since Royal Caribbean and Celebrity are owned by the same company and Celebrity frequently adds a feature a few years after Royal Caribbean does, it is very possible that it will done in the future.

  12. Thanks everyone. We ended up booking a deck nine aft balcony. Can't wait to sit on that balcony and run up 1 set of stairs for some food.

    Laura

Laura, I think that was an excellent decision that you won't regret. Have a wonderful cruise :)
