  1. Thanks everyone for the information, I am sufficiently scared enough not to book such an early flight given the huge influx of cruise passengers that morning combined with travel time from Miami to FLL. Other than 2ManyCruises, seems like most folks would not take the chance. Thanks again and happy cruising to everyone!!

  2. I'm sure this has been asked somewhere before so I apologize. Wife and I are booked for 4 day Sky cruise the first week of February. Would folks know if we have enough time to get through debarkation and transfer to FLL airport for a 10:30 flight? I know it would be cutting it close but right now Southwest airfare is most enticing! Thanks for any help.

  3. That's the spirit! :p

Everyone is charged 15% for tips when they purchase the package. Whether you break even or not, everyone pays the same. I was trying to say that someone who really takes advantage of the package is getting a lot more service from the bar staff, so they might consider leaving some extra tips. It is just a suggestion, after all I don't think anyone really knows how the autotips work for each individual drink order under the UBP.

Gotcha, thanks, that makes sense, I was just thinking that Big Brother was watching to see when you maxed out on the UBP cost and then they started charging you. Thanks for clearing this up for me.

  4. I was asking because I was unsure about what you meant by the extra 15% being charged one you break even??

With the current sale, a lot of people will be enjoying the UBP for free. I hope that NCL is also compensating the bar staff appropriately, but it seems to me that an extra dollar or two would be appropriate. I think they are going to get slammed with extra work because of this free UBP offer.

And even if you pay for the package, once you break even, the service on any additional drinks is no longer covered by the 15% you paid at the beginning of the cruise, so extra tips would be a nice gesture. Not required, of course, no big deal if you feel you've already given enough.

  5. I leave in 2 weeks on the Victory for a 5 night Eastern Caribbean cruise - yay, it's a frigid 10 degrees here today! Last February for my 5 day Inspiration cruise I pre-ordered 6 bottles of wine through Bon Voyage to be delivered to my cabin on the day of departure. I tried to do the same for my upcoming cruise but am told there is now a 2 bottle limit. Just wondereing if anyone knows the rationale behind this decision. I realize Carnival wants you coming to the bar and collecting the gratuity each time you order, but why wuold they really care when you are paying $35 for a bottle of wine that you can buy at a store for $10 - $12? Just wondering.
