Our cabin and 12016 are on the port side under Culinary Center, if you are under the Card Room then you are on the starboard side.  I can't comment on your cabin.....but the stage for Horizons is on the Starboard side so you might here something if you are at the end of that hall.  Right now the live music stops at 11PM and then it is taped music,.....O isn't known for late night revelry,  as most are in bed early due to getting up early the next morning for going ashore.

Actually, our Oceania Suite is even-numbered and is on Port side.  I have taken a closer look at the Vista Deck Plan and there is no space labeled Card Room.  Sorry,  I may have mistakenly identified the area in question above us on Deck 14.🥱

If anyone has been in the Culinary Kitchen, are there perhaps four tables adjacent to it for eating the meals just prepared that will only be used after lessons ?

We are currently on Vista deck 12 and your suite location will be quiet.   There is a door separating the hallway for these suites from hallway for the stairwell, elevators and door out to pool and Waves Bar.  The Culinary Center is not a noise issue either as it is not used constantly and generally for a 2 hour session in the morning or late afternoon - there is no loud music/talking nor chairs scarping as people stand at their individual work stations.   We LOVE this location and have booked it for upcoming cruises on Vista.  You will be happy...

We will be a couple of Cabins down the hall and it looks like the Game/Card Room will be over us and a little Horizons.  Hope that is quiet as well.  Any thoughts …thanks

The primary purpose of my Post is to give

hearty THANKS and praise for all of your prodigious writing and photos which are informative and insightful !   As a soon-to-be Vista passenger who has been to many of your same Ports, your comments - and the time you take to offer them - are appreciated.

While here, let me enter into a fray that has seeped its way into your Vista cruise thread i.e. Viking vs. Oceania.  First are my stipulations : My wife are I are loyal Oceania aficionados our 40+ cruises on many lines are fewer than many others have had:  only one cruise on Viking :  and recognition that most subjects on the CruiseCritic forum are blatantly subjective.

Before getting slammed for my opinions, I recognize that our Viking Mississippi trip is like comparing Oceania apples to Viking Sea Cruises oranges. Many issues with that River cruise were unique to weather and water levels, but led to many disruptions and inconveniences, perhaps not all of which were Vikings fault.

However, our bottom line is that we would not be willing to give Viking another chance for many reasons : the high Viking cost and payment requirements were not a good value proposition by our standards; the comparative penthouse cabins we chose were superior in Oceania ships; the service was lacking in Viking in cabins and restaurants; the optional excursions were relatively expensive, oversold and crowded; and last but not least - the food was a major disappointment.  We now throw away Viking oft received shiny marketing Brochures without breaking their seals...

Cruise Critic threads reveal that different folks choose cruises for different strokes like Ports Itinerary, Ship size, Cabin space, Sticky Buns, Shady Lounge Chairs, Spa, Entertainment, Casino, Coffee, Cookies etc. and Cuisine.  All of these can be personal subjective preferences and are open to discussion which makes for interesting banter.

As for us foodies, we may have been fortunate to have

eaten in many fine restaurants around the world, taken lessons from a Michelin starred Chef in Italy, and attended classes at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, but our opinion is no better than anyone else's last meal.  However, in our limited experience, we believe Oceania has the Best Cuisine at Sea period.

Now back to DrKoob:  I humbly submit to you in return for your efforts, a couple of recommendations before you complete your Food critique segment :  Get to Red Ginger for The Watermelon Duck Salad and Miso Glazed Sea Bass Steamed in Hoba Leaves, to Polo for the Giant Shrimp Cocktail, Steamed Fresh Water Lobster removed from the shell with all the work done by your waiter and add a side Prime Filet to create your own Loving Couple, and since you can't do Jacques, try Dover Sole anywhere.  Thanks again and hope to meet you on a future Oceania cruise.

  4. Thank you for your response, Hambagahle.

Oceania has made it somewhat confusing to ask about specific Suite Categories on specific Oceania ships.  For instance, there are Oceania Suites on Oceania ships and Vista Suites on Oceania ships.  And…There are Vista Suites on the Oceania Vista ship.

I was particularly asking about Oceania Suites on the Oceania Vista ship which I think the Original Poster had posed 🤷‍♂️

The Oceania Suites on deck 11 have the large balconies and the layout in the suite compensates for this.   IF you can - get a Vista suite if you have a port-intensive cruise.  Those are a lot bigger with far bigger balconies.  But are in the front of the ship so on sea days there can be a lot of wind and at night you are not allowed to have any light outside (makes navigation from the Bridge a problem).  We have had an Oceania suite on 12.  Loved it.  but the balcony was really narrow.  Also a Vista suite and that was a LOT better.

Still curious about Vista Deck 12 Oceania Suites which you “ loved. “. What did you love - or dislike ( other than balcony )- about it ?  Were you on Port or Starboard side and what about any noise from above ?  Looks like from the Deck Plan that some starboard side suites are below Horizons Bandstand or Bar …

The balcony is reasonably wide but not deep.  It has a lounger.  The cabin is a lot larger than a penthouse.  If you are going on Vista, I find the new layout to be disappointing.  The Marina and Riviera Oceania Suite Layout is much nicer in my opinion.

We’ve never had an Oceania Suite on any ship, but curious as to what you
found “ disappointing “  about the layout on Vista ?

I just started my (German - use any automatic translation) review of the Christening Cruise of the new Vista. The first entry is a deck by deck review with lots of photos. There are more entries to follow but as I made more than 2,700 photos on this trip it will take some time!

    Enjoy!

I can only echo the thanks - and express appreciation - for all the time and effort it took to produce these wonderful videos.  They are a rich source of information for those of us who are looking forward to their own cruise on this gorgeous new ship.

    Thanks - we enjoyed !

  8. We are Booked on the Riviera February 26th departure.  On February 8th an Oceania eMail advised that an Itinerary change had cancelled Martinique and replaced it with Roseau, Domenica.  The ship’s Land Excursions for Domenica were made available yesterday.

St. Barts is still scheduled for the first Port. Cruising is a fluid activity…

  9. Thank you for taking the time to chronicle your experience on this cruise.  We are scheduled to be on the Riviera for the Feb 26 departure and have been curious about procedures implemented to accommodate Covid.

Have a great cruise - but please leave some Watermelon Duck Salad and Sea Bass in Hoba Leaves for those who follow…

  10. Thanks for the replies.

I knew that Regent and Paul Gauguin had Referral Programs (and even Grand Circle which isn't exactly luxury ! ) but had not seen anything in Oceania's literature.

Just wanted to give other CruiseCritics the opportunity to earn an Oceania credit and for me to get a discount - but booked it anyhow.

  11. We have never sailed Oceania before, but are considering the Nautica's Imperial Interludes Cruise on February 28, 2012.

Certain Cruise Lines will give a Credit to Past Passengers who refer New First Time Passengers to their line. The New Passengers can get a Discount as well.

Does Oceania have a Program that provides these ?

  12. Thanks, Mike, for the heads up. I think we have a Schwab card that also doesn't have foreign transaction fees.

Is the Schwab card you refer to a Debit or a Credit Card ?

I remember reading somewhere in the fine print that foreign transaction fees are waived, but I can't recall if it was just for Debit Card withdrawals at kiosks, or if that applied to Credit card purchases as well.

  13. From all the great posts that i have read, we will be getting a golf cart from nathan to see some of the island, then stop by jacks shack for a few cold drinks. Pick up a bottle or two of Bambarra rum and back to the boat.

Can't wait till 11 sep leaving on carnival fantasy our of charlston, sc.

Sounds just like what we will be doing in November.

Have you discovered the Free Rum Tasting ?

Please be sure to write us a review of your experience.

  14. Alliea :

I reserved a cart for this November on March 23rd via eMail to Nathan.

The charge showed up on my credit card the next day as " Smith's Gas Station - Turks Caico. "

I made a copy of the Statement and have it with my Confirmation since the correspondence was far in advance of the rental date, but plan to re-confirm a couple of weeks before we get there.

If you don't see the debit on your card in the next day or two, I would eMail Nathan with your concern.

  15. You can fit two adults on the front seat, and two on the back bench facing backwards - comfortably

Nathan will state in his eMail Confirmation that it is $ 80 for four for the day.

You might want to eMail him with a Question if he will allow any more- like a child.

Of course, you may wish to consult The Guinness Book of World Records for a more authoritative answer !
