  1. Due to the fact that a lot of passengers were ill it must be assumed that it was from passengers. When 1800 departed in Cape Town we thought it would ease but it was quiet for a while then started all over again so the infections one must assume are throughout the ship. Two of our table companions boarded in New York and were already ill by the time they reached Southampton and did not come for dinner for the first 3 nights. They were ill again by the time we got to Melbourne so it is obviously going round and round the ship. We have cruised 4 times on QM2 and been ill each time. We have cruised for 24 years and never had this before.

  2. A couple of years ago we had a B2B booked thru a TA. Luckily I am a worrier so always checking my booking. One Saturday I checked on cruise personaliser to find one of our cruises had been upgraded. Phoned the TA to ask why as we had specified no upgrade. TA phoned us back at 5pm to say they had been unable to contact Princess. Rang again on Sunday morning to get told by TA that Princess was not open. Do they think I am a novice cruiser. I checked. Of course Princess were open. Phoned the TA back. Was told I am the only person here. If I am on the phone helping you I can't deal with anybody else in an emergency. Needless to say they lost my business and I only book direct with Princess now. I also got my cabin back by speaking directly with Princess who were brilliant.

  3. When we boarded Diamond Princess last year one of our suitcases arrived at the cabin plus a note on the door summoning us to the 'naughty room'. Our words not theirs. When we walked into the room on deck 4 (which was full of cases) we were told to find our case, put it on the table and unlock it. The officer then asked if we had alcohol in it. No. Do you have wine. No. Do you have water. No. We have screened your luggage and there is a bottle in there. Then I remembered the body lotion I had bought in the airport and had put in my case to avoid the weight in my hand luggage. Once they had seen it we were allowed to take our case. I was very glad not to be a smuggler!!!

  4. The service charge is put on each receipt but is taken off the next day along with the price of the drink. We were pleasantly surprised at the choice of drinks available at the $9 ceiling, even able to have a courvoisier.

  5. Just back from our cruise so thought a I would report back on the drinks package. Once again I was misinformed by Cunard. Each individual on the package must order their drinks, one drink at a time. The drinks are billed to your account and then removed on the next day. We had a card left in our cabin on the second day to sign for the package which we then gave to our room steward. It worked very well but I am sure we drank more than we would normally do!!! One hiccup, the bill left at our cabin on the last night did not remove that days drinks so a quick trip to the pursers desk at 6.30 am to sort it. Hope you all enjoy.

  6. Likely Lad, just checked again with Cunard reference the drinks on board and they have informed me that the 15% is waivered so drinks up to the value of $9 can be ordered. I was previously misinformed. Also as long as both of you have the drinks package the drinks may be ordered together. We will be sailing in Spanish waters and will have to pay the 10% vat charge by the Spanish authorities. Hope this information is of help.
