1. Thank you all so much for your responses!

The Quest thing sounds like a big Deal. I hope out CD is great I have been on cruises with crappy ones and it stinks. But when you get a good CD the cruise is great!

Another question my father in law wanted me to ask. How is the smoking policy? Is there designated areas? How is the cigar bar area we read about? Do you have to bring your own or can u purchase on the ship?

Also are you able to track your spending on the TV's int he room on the DAWN and also look at dinner menus? This was good on CCL and RCI so we could watch our spending and plan out meals!

    Thanks!

  2. Hello All!

I have a few questions I was hoping all you great people out there can help me out with. My wife and I are taking her Parents on there first cruise this summer on the Dawn out of Boston for her Dads birthday. And I had a few questions..

A little on us my wife and I are in our late 20's and have been on many cruises, this however is our first on NCL. Previous have been CCL and RCI. We love cruising and have been on mega ships and smaller ships. Love both busy days and relaxing by the pool.

Her parents have never cruised and are looking forward to it. What should we be expecting on the Dawn compared to what we may have experienced on CCL and RCI? How are all the shows? Is there karaoke and if so how often? Every night? Is there a piano bar or dueling pianos? How is the night life? Are the dance clubs/bars open and filled late?

Do the pools and hot tubes stay open late or do they close early like on CCL?

What are some of the "must dos" on the ship?

Thank you everyone for reading this and Thanks in advance for any suggestions!!!

  3. Going to be in port next week on the Carnival Legend. I’m with a group of 12 people and we are looking to go to stingray city but have not booked through the cruise line.

Does anyone know if there will be tour groups in the port that we can purchase a tour through once we get to the port? Or is it better to book beforehand online or with the cruise line?

    Thanks!

  4. Thanks all for the great responses!

I look forward to hearing what other also have to say!

MrsFuzzmo - Do you know if we should book the stingray stuff through the cruise line? Or from your experience are there lots of people at the port offering trips to stingray city? Or are there like tour booths we can go to book a tour?

    - At Cozumel would you suggest going to the other side of the island like you are saying opposed to going to like Paradise Beach?

-From peoples experience in Belize are there places to book excursions in the port right off the boat? Or not so much?

  5. Leaving on the Legend on Sunday!

    Can’t wait!

Going with a group of 12 people all in their late 20's. None of us pre booked excursions for the ports (Cozumel, Belize, Rotan and Grand Cayman). We were all mostly thinking of just figuring out what we will do once in port. Only place I have really read about that I think we are going to do is Paradise Beach in Cozumel.

Does anyone have any advice or suggestions for the other ports for fun activities?

Where we should head to with a taxi?

What are some of the best beaches to go to?

Looking for some ideas that will not break the bank either.

Any ideas are great and welcome!

    Thanks Everyone!

I booked my next cruise through a TA with a total of 12 people between 6 cabins. I have signed up my booking number on Carnival.com and am tracking it. My TA told me all the rooms are linked together as a group and that we should all be sitting together at dinner. Is there any way to check this? Should I be able to see the other rooms "linked" to my booking when I log into the website? If I were to call carnival will they be able to verify this for me even though I booked through a TA?

I know on my last RCCL cruise at the bottom of the cruise page is had an area for linked reservations/rooms. Didn’t know if Carnival had this also.

  7. Hi All!

Just booked a cruise with 11 of my friends for May on the Legend. I just read that it is going into Dry Dock soon and was wondering what upgrades it is getting. Anyone know?

Also my second question is about the Alcohol package Carnival offers now. Does anyone know how much it costs and what it covers? I have read that both people in the cabin need to book the package to get it. However the last RCCL cruise I went on they said this also, but when we got on the cruise we were allowed to buy it for just one of us in the cabin. Does Carnival do this as well? If we wait till on board can only one of us in the cabin buy it and the other not be forced to buy it?

    Thanks for all the help!

  8. We are going on our Honeymoon Cruise in a few weeks and I have a question.

We will be on Allure Eastern Caribbean Jan 5th sailing and have booked Chops for the 2nd night (Monday), Chefs Table for 5th night (Thursday) and Samba Gill for the 6th Night (Friday)

From what I have ready the formal Nights are typically Monday and Friday for Eastern on Allure, can anyone confirm this? Do people think it would be better to just not do Samba Grill and eat in the MDR for Formal Night on the Friday since we miss formal night on the Monday?

What are people opinions of Samba?

    Thanks!

    Dan

  9. Does anyone know if it is still possible to do any of the dolphin swim excursions at Nassau with Allures adjusted sailing? I have read that we arrive at 7am and now leave around 1230 due to the issues. Is this enough time to do one of these excursions?

If so what one would previous cruisers suggest??

    Thanks!

    Dan

  10. First off thansk for everyone who has replyed so far...

Lioness...Yes you are right i did mean 2014, not going back in time here haha

reallyitsmema...Yes thanks for the ehads up, i have been following the Allure issues and was reall happy our cruise was nto cancelled, but i do uynderstand we are loosing time at the two islands. When i look online to book excursions they are all still shown, should RCCL take down excursions that are not possible for the reduced times?

For thos who ahve been to Maho Beach and sugested it is it a nice beach to lay out on and swim in? or will it be very busy with the planes and people there. It is soemthgin we want to do but if it gets crazy busy im not sure if its worth it. Also how long is a taxi ride there and to they take US currancy?

We typically like to book our excursions through the boat to we dotn need to worry about it leaving without us.

    Any other sugestions from people????:D

  11. Hi All,

My fiancé and I are looking for some suggestions from all you experienced cruises on what excursions we should look into for our Honeymoon cruise on the Allure on Jan 5th 2013. It is an Eastern Sailing so stopping at Nassau, St. Thomas and St. Martian.

We were thinking in Nassau doing the Dolphin swim at Atlantice that also allows you to walk around the grounds after, has anyone done this?

In St. Thomas we were looking at the Turtle Snorkel and beach trip.

In St, Martian prob just looking at a beach day not sure what to book though. I am an avid plane lover and would like to go to the Maho Beach where the planes land right over the beach. I did not see any excursions from Royal that take you there however. Has anyone else done this? Is the beach far from the port? Is a taxi ride easy to get to and from there? And is there other stuff to do around that beach like food/shopping etc?

Also what have others done on these ports that they would suggest?

Thanks in advance for all the help!

    -Dan
