  1. Loriva--Thank you for a wonderful trip report--so well written and informative.  As an experienced ocean cruiser who is just planning and booking our first river cruise, your information has been so helpful!  I'm a planner, and compared to ocean cruising, there is relatively little information out there about river cruises, and Scenic in particular.  Thank you for taking your precious vacation time to share this information with others!

  2. How many different people can use the 6-pack of kits?  We are a family of 4, so I am hoping to order a 6 pack and have 1 for each family member and 2 extras just in case of mistakes.  I read somewhere on these boards that you can only use the 6 pack for a max of 3 people (I guess you have to put the names of the users in when you make the purchase?)  Anyone have any experience with this?

    Thanks!

FYI to all....our cruise is in 12 days and after checking on a daily basis for many weeks, today I was indeed able to change the boarding time from 2:30 to 12:30. Keep checking if you want to try for an earlier slot.

Thank you very much for updating your post with this info--were you able to finally do it on the website or was it in the app (when it opened up again) ?

  4. Thank you so much for the great review—it’s so nice to read your insights and ideas!  We’re getting excited for our cruise!

How close together are the tables in the main dining room?  Have they separated the tables at all?  Normally (pre-Covid) they are extremely close together and—like your husband—I don’t know if we’d be comfortable being that close to others while eating a long-ish dinner.

    Thanks!

  5. Just wondering if anyone has done "The Studio" photography lately?  I am wondering what (approximately) is the cost?  Are they still doing it on current sailings?  Any recent experiences would be appreciated.  We'll be on an Alaska cruise soon and are interested in having a portrait session, and I'd like to have an idea about what to budget for it.  It's still on the website, but there's not much information there, and nothing about price (just that there's no sitting fee upfront required).

    Many thanks!

  6. We're boarding in a couple of weeks (can't wait!), and it is very hard to get information about the post-partial-revolution sky suite cabins -- I would really appreciate any information you could provide as to what (if anything) has been updated in the SS cabins.  Is there new carpet, mattress, linens, curtains?  Has the balcony furniture been changed?

Thank you for taking time during your vacation to provide information for others on this board.  Have a wonderful cruise!

Perhaps it's been discussed elsewhere - but I've been wondering precisely how Celebrity navigated that bump in the road?

    Tom

I think I have the same question -- we're sailing in August in a Sky Suite (S2), and from what I can tell so far nothing was done to those rooms -- no new carpet, drapes, or bed -- or am I missing something?  Are you saying Celebrity is doing something for those folks?  mmeg29, can you comment further?

  8. I'm Elite on Celebrity, but for some reason I never receive ANY emails from them (marketing--sales, etc., OR post-cruise surveys).  I've checked my spam filters, and many months ago I called the Captains Club (they told me I was "opted out", so they opted me back in for emails.....still haven't received one), I regularly go on their website to do online check-in and other pre-cruise purchases and I have confirmed I'm opted in there, and I even tried changing my email address to a different account (just in case that was the issue).

I book all of our cruises in my name, with my email address (through an online TA), but only my husband receives emails from Celebrity.

I've pretty much given up at this point, but I noticed from the Fine Cooking Magazine thread that there may be others in the same boat, so to speak.  Just wondering....

I think there are inaccuracies.  Celebrity recently published a fleet guide with comparisons of pre and post comparisons.   Constellation column for the Revolution is missing.

She was the last ship to have the Solstizaton just in the past couple years.

Interesting -- the Fleet Guide shows the Summit getting its next refurbishment in November 2020, which I hope is not accurate!

    • Thanks 1
  10. We have the premium package so Martini Bar and World class bar see you in a few weeks! Any ideas of the names of the bar tenders?

Look for Carlos at the Martini Bar (and he does Al Bacio during the day). He's fantastic and has an amazing memory! We were on and saw him nightly on the Silhouette in March and he said he's on through the summer.

  11. Happy to. We walked from the ship, but there's a Holiday Inn Hotel right across the street from the dock, It's no more than a flat 1/4 mile from there to the entrance of the city. Southampton is apparently one of the few walled cities with its wall still virtually intact. Go through either of the gates (we chose the further one because there were two boats on display that we wanted to look at) An easy walk up the hill and you'll come to the Tudor House Museum, which is largely renovated as it was under private ownership for many years, but they have done a marvelous job of turning it into an historic museum. There's a program about the house, which is not to be missed, and then the gardens where you can almost visualize a Queen and her ladies in waiting walking and gossiping! The gardens are not large but there is a cannon that was actually built for King Henry VIII! On the lower level there's modern rest rooms and believe it or not a portion of the original house! We ate lunch at the cafe there, which over looks the garden and was delightful. The most memorable portion of the self-guided tour was down a very narrow stairway (I had no trouble and I have walking and balance issues) where the air-raid shelter for the family is. That was a mind blower for me (I'm a NYC girl)...when you finish with the house, across the square is the old church and an original shop, which was closed the day we were there. After lunch we walked through the old village with a quick stop at the Titanic Pub and Museum, then continued through the Gates and came upon the modern city with it's many shops and a supermarket, which was important to us because we were doing the B2B and had run out of some things. There is also a lovely walk along the water with landscaping and benches. We left the ship at 10 a.m. and returned at 3 p.m. and it was one of the best times we had....the people are so friendly and if you sit on a bench next to a local and start talking to them you can learn volumes!!! Enjoy!

Thanks so much--that sounds like a lovely day, and we'll follow your plan!

  12. Take a look at Hotel David. It was #1 on Trip Advisor when we went last summer, and it was exactly as advertised (in a good way)--one of the best hotels we've stayed in. The employees could not have been more friendly and helpful. Not right in the city, though--a beautiful but healthy walk along the water into the center of town (or a quick cab ride).

  13. We did this cruise last August with B2B to Norway and the weather was glorious!! I packed jeans and long sleeved shirts and at the last minute threw 3 pairs of capris and 3 short sleeved shirts in my bag. I wound up living in those capris for almost 3 weeks and buying tee shirts in each port!! It was a glorious trip and we had the best time in Southampton on "turnaround" day. So much to see and do in that charming city but they don't advertise it.

Sorry to get off topic, but would you mind briefly giving me some ideas of what you did in Southampton? We have a whole day there before our cruise and we're trying to decide what to do....you are right that they really don't advertise it, and it's hard to find much information on it.

  14. We are also considering taking the #11 bus (and will also be on the Reflection in June), but we're hoping to take it both directions, to and from Portovenere, for the sake of simplicity. I see the two stops described above, Ospedale or Asl Xxiv Maggio, but I'm wondering -- are bus tickets sold there, or do we need to buy them elsewhere? Also, I gather the ride is generally scenic and is about 30-40 minutes? Many thanks in advance!

  15. I just went through and checked the excursions for my cruise in June. As the email said, only some excursions are reduced. Unfortunately, the vast majority of those that have the yellow "up to 20% off" banner on them are the same price as they were a couple of months ago. I was only able to find a couple ($100+) excursions are now $5 lower in price. I hope others have better luck with their cruises!

  16. Thanks for posting those beautiful photos! We've got an overnight cruise stop there this summer, and I have not found very much information on what to do there. Thanks to your photos, I can see that we can definitely fill 2 days in the area. Did you spend one the day in the port area? That looks like a lovely place to spend some time.

  17. There is the correct drinks list on the celebrity web site and worth checking on that as classic does not show bombay sapphire?

Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk

Exactly -- what I posted was the drink listing from my July Baltic Cruise on the Eclipse out of Southampton. It is not consistent with the listing on the Celebrity web site, which is here: https://secure.celebritycruises.com/celebrity/media/celebrity/shared_assets/pdf/Classic-Premium-Bev-Pckgs.pdf

So, your experience will vary depending on the cruise -- If you're looking for a specific brand, I'd recommend finding out once you get on board and then decide about upgrading.

  18. My wife and I both received this offer from Captains Club today. We are both at Select level in the Club. Here's the text:

"If you book a Veranda, AquaClass®, or Concierge Class stateroom on a Europe cruise aboard Celebrity Reflection® or Celebrity EquinoxSM departing in May, June, or July, 2016, you‘ll receive 10 extra Club Points and advance to Elite status after that sailing. Just take advantage of our offer to reach this exclusive membership level sooner. But hurry—offer ends January 3, 2016."

Does this mean that Celebrity would give us 10 points AND advance us to Elite, even if we are not at 300 points? Or do the normal cruise points plus 10 extra have to get us to 300, which would take more than one cruise according to my math?

Did anyone else get this offer, and/or have any experience with this deal?
