  1. Same here. I have several different phone numbers and all get the same fast busy signal. BTW, the number to call that is posted on the MSC home page keeps changing every couple of minutes. Don't know what that means but thought I'd pass it along. As another poster said, the hold times can be daunting but this is a different story altogether. There must be a problem with the system.

REALLY? i don't remember this. Can I do it only for people in my cabin or other cabins as well?

Firstly, availability depends on the ship being one of the "smart" ships as referred to in the photo. It would seem the chat feature would be for anyone with the app installed..

  3. Yes, I agree with sptrout about carrying the smartphone around but, for me, a small price to pay for the convenience.  As I've said, I am disaster knowing where I am and how to find places so, for me, the "where are you" is worth the price of admission.

I wouldn't try to use it until you're on the ship. Yes, it might seem like some things should work beforehand, but in my experience, it's utterly useless until you're on board. I believe the MSC for Me app is designed SOLELY for cruise passengers actually on board the ship, so using it any other time is only likely to drive you crazy. I'd wait if I were you. Have a great cruise!

Thank you DCGuy64. Will wait and see.😎

For anyone who has used it on board, what was your experience?

  5. Have any of y'all had experience using MSC for Me?

We will be on the Meraviglia later this month so have, in preparation, installed this app.  Reviews don't give it too high a rating but if it works as promised should be very helpful. Meanwhile, here at home, first thing I get upon opening is " 'An error occurred. Please try again' press OK". Pressing OK makes it go away bringing up the Home screen.  With a few exceptions most every tap of a function produces the same error message. I don't expect full functionality until on board the ship but I should think it would at least be as useful as navigating the MSC website.

One of the useful features, as I understand it, will be a tool to help navigating around the ship. Don't know where I remember seeing this but if it's true, that would be a great help. I have a great sense of direction on land but am totally turned around on a cruise ship.

Again, any feedback you care to share, positive or otherwise, will be greatly appreciated.

There's no gratuity on drinks which are included in your package.

There's a couple of extra drinks on the pre mixed drinks list for USA sailings and an additional bottled beer, Miller Lite IIRC.

It shouldn't be a problem to order your bloody Mary items separately or a virgin bloody Mary and a shot on the side.

Your experience won't be any different to your previous sailing, there's just a smaller drinks list included than there was previously with Aurea.

Here's a link to the latest drinks menus (from post #35 on page 2):

CruisingFox27 and Beamafar,  thank you so much for your feedback. I notice one of the menus has Heineken 0.0, a fav of mine when I want the taste of a real beer but not the buz. Sorry to see it won't be included with my freebies but what the heck I guess I'll just have to splurge 😉.

  7. We have a Caribbean sailing on the Meraviglia 10/28 from New York.  We’ve booked an Aurea Experience which includes Easy Drink package.  MSC’s website is rather vague on this issue so I’m looking to y’all for clarification. My understandings/Questions:

    • No 15% gratuity charged on drinks in the Aurea Experience, correct?
    • Many folks have generously posted Easy Drink menus.  One thing I’ve noticed in these examples, aside from the currency differences, is menu choices are not always the same. Somewhere I seem to recall comments to the affect that menu choices differ depending on the cruise’s itinerary.  Is that so? If anyone has the most recent US one to share it would be very much appreciated.
    • A glass of wine at dinner or a beer is pretty much all I/we care about but an occasional Bloody Mary would be nice but I don’t see that choice so I suppose that will be a do-it-yourself concoction as some have suggested by ordering the ingredients separately.

I am soooo thankful for the very helpful posters on Cruise Critic. We’ve sailed once before on MSC and didn’t feel as confounded on that first cruise (ignorance is bliss😕) as I do now.  Having been through it once before I now have more questions than ever though trying not to be too OCD about the details.

You can only make specialty restaurant reservations for a specific date and time when you purchase one of the packages online, and even then it is quite quirky.  You can make the one reservation when you board and shouldn't have much trouble.

"Ate", you are right. I called MSC, and they don't sell individual specialty restaurant reservation. Only 3 restaurants package. Such a none sense policy! What if we travel as group 6-8 persons? How they can guarantee the same table. Again such a none sense!

    Very disappointed!

Thank you all for clearing up my confusion about the specialty restaurants. The email promos I've been receiving make it seem you could only eat at a specialty restaurant if you purchased a package and if you go online to get more information there isn't any way of selecting just 1.  Which then led me, reluctantly, to make a call to MSC  "customer service". The only information the agent offered was you could only make reservations for a package. She seemed vague and never offered to suggest that this only pertained to the making of online reservations and, as Até pointed out,  you can make the reservation while on board.

  9. We can’t thank PK Travel enough for providing a most memorable experience for our stop in Athens. It was the dream trip of a lifetime to cruise the Eastern Mediterranean which included Athens so we booked a shared tour with PK Travel and are we ever glad we did. Everything was as we hoped for and Michael, our tour guide, was gracious and very knowledgeable. He was like an encyclopedia and seemed to know everything in the most detail. We were very lucky to have known about PK Travel and would not hesitate to recommend their service to other travelers.
