  1. On Celebrity, how does onboard credit work? Is it simply applied to your charge total at the end of the cruise or do you have to specifically apply to a purchase?

  2. Does Celebrity provide an option to purchase a case of regular bottled water (e.g., Dasani) delivered to the stateroom at the beginning of the cruise. I've used that option on previous Princess and Carnival cruises. I am not referring to the premium bottled water (Evian, San Pellegrino, etc) package ordered from the bars or dining room that I see listed. Conversely, if they do not offer such a package, are we allowed to bring on board a case of pre-purchased water from shore?

  3. We did a similar cruise from Seward to Vancouver in 2010. We flew to Anchorage from LAX arriving after midnight and took a cab to the Alyeska Hotel in Girdwood; about 30 minutes out of town. It was a beautiful night drive. We stayed for two nights there and took the train to Seward. The hotel is a ski resort with the usual amenities. There is a really small station in Girdwood (a platform really) but it worked out great. The train ride over the Kenai peninsula was stunning in late May. Snow covered mountains and passes and blue skies from horizon to horizon. The train station in Seward is a short taxi ride to the port. The town itself is interesting with nice aquarium as well. Good luck on your travels.

    Fight on!

  4. I used three lenses on my Nikon D200 during my first cruise to Alaska. A 12-24, 70-300 f4.5-5.6, and my favorite 35 f1.8. The weather was spectacular with clear skies and brilliant sunsets. The wide angle was great for landscapes while the 35 was best for low light and walking around town. The 70-300 with VR worked reasonably well for whale watching and eagles but I still wished for a longer reach. This Spring I will be going on another cruise to Alaska but will be using a full frame camera with my old manual lenses. I don't know which yet.

  5. I've booked a cruise on the Golden Princess RT from San Francisco. We selected a cabin quite forward on the ship. I'm beginning to wonder if that was smart since I'm prone to seasickness.

Questions: Does the route Golden Princess takes on this itinerary follow the Inside Passage at Victoria or does she stay off shore until she approaches Alaska? Although I understand it's hard to say at this point, is the Pacific in this area prone to storms in late May?

    Thanks,
