  1. Has anyone got a winter 2015/16 brochure that shows the Cuban cruise we should have done. I cant remember which ports we should have called at but I think Santiago de Cuba was one of them. I keep all old brochures but oddly cant find that one. It fascinates me how TUI are now offering refunds for missed ports but half of our cruise changed & we weren't offered anything. I eventually managed to get £100 obc after persistently writing to them. Thanks to any long standing tui cruisers

  2. I went on to Marella to look for tge 2023 cruises but they only go up to April. On the few I looked at all the back balcony cabins have gone already. People must stay up till midnight to book them as soon as they come out. Does anyone know when the summer 2023 are on sale please so I can be ready with tablet in hand to get a chance of an aft cabin. Thanks

  3. ahoy shipmates. Just booked a nice little summer holiday on the Disco 2:cool: not been to the 3 ports mentioned above so can anybody tell me if the ship docks in town or a way away and it's a shuttle bus job,,please. Are Lisbon,,Vigo and Porto easy diy ports or are they better done on a ships trip?

Id recommend the hop on hop off buses in Porto and Lisbon. A free shuttle bus takes you to the port entrance in Porto and the HO HO buses wait there. In Lisbon they are more or less opposite the dock. Id go on the one that takes you to Belem, cant remember if its the red or blue bus but well worth a visit for the monument of the Discoveries

  4. Hi everyone, I am researching the various trips available for St Petersburg. There is a Thomson run Panoramic City Tour for 1/2 day which would suit us perfectly, but can anyone tell me if you get off the bus apart from the one photo stop at the Aurora Battleship? Thanks in advance!

It states on the tour sheet that " All sights are visited externally only with photo-stops with short stops" which means quickly off the bus for photo then straight back on. If you want to look inside any buildings I'd choose another tour. Weve just returned from the Baltic Discovery cruise. In St Petersburg we did 4 trips firstly Peterhof Palace and gardens which involved walking and was wonderful. We had time to eat and get on the next trip round St Petersburg cathedrals in the afternoon. The coach stopped at each one for us to have a guided tour inside. Next morning we visited Catherines Palace, time to eat on our return. In the afternoon we did Spilled Blood Church which involved a bit of walking round the streets. We saw so much of St Petersburg during our trips and they were all interesting. All morning trips are arranged to return in time for afternoon ones and you still have time for evening ones as well. Dont worry if you book a trip and decide to change it, we did this twice and they just change it for you or refund money if you booked it before you travelled. Ours had been refunded on our return home.

  5. Di I still have to print off boarding cards for out and return prior to the cruise. Have looked through the instructions but they are not very clear. Thanks

Im refusing to cgeck in and print boarding cards online, see my post re booking seats. I rang Thomsons to complain that you are given seats when checking in and have to pay if you want to change them. I was told just to wait till we got to the airport to check in. I didnt realise this was an option!

  6. Has anyone flying from Manchester to Malaga Sunday 21st for Spirit booked their seats and if so can you get back in to see the seating plan and whats left? I cant see it anymore, so you can only check in and then if youre are not happy with the seat you are given you have to pay £14 to change. We are not bothered about sitting next to each other and would prefer to have 2 aisle seats but if I continue to check in im worried we'll be given a window and middle seat. Dilemna. What do I do?

  7. Hi we are sailing oh 16th August would it be advisable to book excursions with ship please advise first time cruiser

We did Rome on our own but you have to be very organised. I checked train times on the internet, walked to the station then got train times coming back. Make sure you go for the train before the train you think will get you back in time, if that makes sense. And allow 15 mins at least to get to the platform, its a long way from the station entrance. We did an open top bus to the Vatican then walked quite a way back calling at places we wanted to see then got on the open top bus back to the station. You can get off the train at a station nearer the Vatican if you prefer. Just do some googling and youll be fine. In Minorca you can use local buses if you want to get out of Mahon. The bus station is not far from the port .Hope this helps

  8. Our 2 week Caribbean Cruise on the Thomson Celebration in February was our 16th cruise with Thomson (19 weeks in total). We like seeing new places and this was our first time in the Caribbean. We have sailed in the Baltic, Mediterranean, Norway Fjords, Aegean, Adriatic, Red Sea and Black Sea.

We were very disappointed that our repeat custom was not recognised in any way by Thomson, despite registering as repeat customers when booking online. On cruises 10 and 11 we were at least given a complementary bottle of fizz (ok, not exactly exciting). Fellow passengers were quite amazed that we had received no recent, tangible, reward.

I perhaps should have raised this issue on board but did contact Thomson on return. I received an ambiguous reply - they may put forward my request for consideration. Whether for me or for passengers in general, I do not know. My response asking for clarity has been met with silence.

So I'd be very interested to hear from other Thomson cruisers about any loyalty recognition that they have received and how this compares with other cruise lines.

Ive just seen on Facebook that they have offered someone some free wifi!

  9. Has everybody had their £50 per person onboard spend added to their paperwork yet. I am still waiting for notification of mine from a Robin Brettle at Thomsons. I have told Thomsons I want it added on to my paperwork as I dont trust them to give it us when we get onboard. This has been going on now since October. What is wrong with Thomsons? My case is with ABTA but they keep emailing me saying Thomson say the case is sorted but I keep advising them it certainly is not sorted until I get notification of the £50 from Thomson on updated paperwork. ABTA have now told me to get back to them if Ive not heard within 10 days. Yea as if thats likely. Good job the cruise staff onboard are not like the customer services here.Comments please

  10. We always sit at the back, people queing for the toilet dont bother me, we were sat at the back in the middle anyway but now Ive booked the window seats because theres only 2 together. Thanks Huddersfieldtourist, they werent unavailable because someone had booked them, they were blanked out, unavailable to book. Strange

  11. I booked seats 90 days before our cruise and noticed the 2 seats on their own at the back of the plane were unavailable to book so I booked 2 middle seats. Went online today to see if anyone had booked the seat next to us yet and saw that the back 2 seats were now available on one side of the plane and the ones at the other side had been booked. Does anyone know why they were not released earlier

  12. Hi All

My wife and I are going on a Thomson Cruise this Christmas, Jamaca, Caymen Islands, Mexico East coast,

I Have just booked, and did not think to ask about Vaccinations, Is there anyone going or who has been on a cruise in that area, who could give some advice.

    Regards KP

Check with your GP surgery, the practise nurse can do it for you. Shell check online. We always have what we are supposed to have and keep up to date with them. If people dont want to have them thats up to them but theyll be sorry if they catch something and I would never recommend someone else not to bother. They dont hurt that much and are free.

  13. I agree with others about the people mover in Venice and the Ljubljana trip anc the walk round Koper. Lovely little place with cobbled street and a few bars. There is also a beach, turn right off the ship. It takes about 5 mins. Small cafe and lots of families due to it being Sunday. It was like stepping back in time 20 years. We did a local beach in Split if you are going there and like to join in with locals. Turn the opposite way to the old town and follow the railway line. Enjoy

  14. found out about this by accident and am fuming. only booked because of the itenerary. phoned thomson - very unhelpful, said i would loose deposit if i cancelled as it is deemed by them to be "minimum change" Said they are contacting all clients who have booked - but no-one has contacted me yet. To make things worse thay have added Cozumel!

You were lucky,I still havent been informed officially (23rd October) my sister told me after seeing it on Cruise critic. Am due to pay balance today and no time to do anything
