Uh-oh, frequent Carnival cruiser here following this thread because I will be on the Equinox for a fabulous Mediterranean itinerary next September.   Thankfully, I expect my fellow passengers will be less judgmental than expressed in the attitude above.  And I bet most of them won't be able to tell that all my recent cruises were on Carnival.  😁

Notice I didn't say I was a "Carnival type" cruiser.  That's because after multiple Carnival cruises, I still would not be able to describe that "type."  That being said, one should move on to another cruise line when no longer satisfied with their preferred line.

    You will love the Equinox.

Just back from Curaçao. Once again Celebrity required Vax card to get off ship. Makes no sense since it was checked twice when we boarded. Again very little port security getting back into port. 20-30% of people not wearing masks in stores. Carnival Horizon with us today but not tomorrow in Bonaire. RNB signing off for now

Do you have to show the card when you get back on the ship

  3. Looking at Orient, but friends are doing Kim. Royal tour doing just beach only at beach for 2 hours.
Would like to taxi with friends to Orient and spend 3 1/2 to 4 hours on beach. I assume beach chairs and umbrellas are available to rent. Have never liked the lunches offered, nor trusted them. Just me. So the 3 1/2 hour Royal tour figures lunch. Do not know why only 2 hours if you do not want lunch.

You will also get on board credit for the future cruise.

Just know that the best perks come when you book with a non-refundable deposit.  Also, they are not always clear that they are booking your cruise with a non-refundable deposit.

What is the amount you get for a JS booking?  7 nights H

  5. Yes, you might want to go to the dining room and request one with the Maitre d, Luigi, after you board.

I am coming into this a little late as I was on he 1/6 sailing.

My waitress spoke no English and did not understand English.

The closet doors do not allow about 39% of the clothes to even be seen.

The toilet cannot be set on properly because of a design flaw that extended the sink where your legs would go.

400 people were assigned to eat in the buffet for the cruise not the dining room

A simple thing like the trash can that was divided like a recycle bin was irritating.

75% of the passengers were from Europe.

I asked to change my table in the dining room because it was touching a work station and was told no more room, that I would have to eat in the buffet. They lied as there was plenty of seating we switched to. I told them I would stand by their podium until they got me better seating. My wife would have left the ship if she had to wait on herself all cruise. They got me better seating. I heard them lying to many people about seating. I even got two couples the forth night seating in the dining room after they are in the buffet the first three nights. They were being lied to as I entered the dining room, as they were told to return to the buffet. I leaned over and told the couples and the head waiter that he was lying. Then I got the dining room manager to take them to a great table they were assigned the rest of the cruise.

I got free wine at dinner, but most of the time it was well over 3p to 45 minutes before someone came to refresh the glass.

The benefits I received as a black card holder had to be requested for each item. Drove me crazy.

The Fantastica drinks cards that had the drinks we purchased took two days to receive. I had to stand in the always long line atuest services for over 45 minutes each time.

Dining room food was terrible. Fish dry, steak was like chewing rubber bands. Lost 2pounds. Food came cold.

Most of the cruisers dressed very nice.

One of the chocolate ships we got was 25% melted. Of course one was awesome.

    Check in was great!

Ship was beautiful, except for the one floor high dining rooms that looked like a cafeteria. Very basic looking.

Did not like the control YC cruisers had over the elevator we were on. We got on on deck 5 going to deck 14. About 12 other people going to different floors. We had just reached deck 13 (yes deck 13), when the elevator went into a free fall. We could not control the elevator. It did stop at deck 5 again. A man got on, and punched in deck 16, then we tried to punch in deck 14, but “no”, as the light kept going out. This guy had taken over my elevator, and we were powerless. Yes this happened.

Also they had a deck 13 but skipped deck 17. Hello! Is this a European thing?

    Enough said. H

  6. Your comment can be misleading....you have to read the 'fine print' on your cruise insurance policy.....even with 'cancel for any reason' (which we have tried to use) there are MANY stipulations.....like, 'cruise must be cancelled by cruise lines for 48 HOURS' before you can get refund. How about those folks that must FLY to their port and their airlines ticket is dated for MORE than 48 HOURS BEFORE the cruise lines cancelled?? You are SOL....you need to use your tickets to your ultimately cancelled cruise?? and they won't reimburse for that airfare. Or how about a spouse losing a job.....there are all kinds of 'small print' stipulations about how long you have been employed before they will pay out! So travel insurance would be worthless in these cases and many others too (we have been on the opposing side of the 'small print' TWICE)

Also, while you paid $100 for the all inclusive, highest level of travel insurance (I am assuming it is high level coverage, or it is pretty worthless as well in many cases) for your group of 3?? It is important to note that cost of coverage is based not only on how many family members, but AGE!! We have never ONLY PAID $100 for our insurance.....so to state that as a blanket cost is quite misleading and incorrect as well. Your information could mislead many who are new to cruising and travel insurance.

Travel insurance, while we still purchase it, has NOT been a truly good investment when we have tried to use ours....but we still purchase it, but are close to changing our minds!!

You are correct! People seem to not understand they are going to drive/fly into a war zone. No gas, on power for weeks, governor declaring emergency travel only. This will be unpresidented. Highways will be blocked with debree. Food sources gone. Hotels closed. Cell service knocked out for days.

So go if you may, but be willing to pay the price. Please set this one out, there is no benefit to experience this for yourselves and your family. These thoughts are based on the current path and strength of Irma. Maybe will not happen. Oh yes one more thing, call the office of emergency in FL and see what they say. H

  7. Are you going to cancel because you wanted to do a BtoB or because you just don't want to sail Allure or RCI now?

I have no where to go to stay on the second cruise. I am on two sailings on a MSC Hsip then a carnival ship the 15 days befor he cancelled cruise. So that creates a voidRCItold me they cannot fill so I could go on the Allure 1/28. Their only suggestion by RCI was for me to rent a car and drive to port Canaveral cruise on the Oasis then drive back to PE to do the 1/28 Allure cruise. No air credit was going to be offered.

I like RCI, and I like Celebrity even better. At the end of the year I will have 70 RCI cruises. I cruise on Sunday with Celebrity for a week then 31 days starting mid October. I have four RCI cruises booked in 2018 even cancelling both of these bookings. The only reason I have not cancelled is if they in the next 30 days the 1/28 cruise it would benefit me as I am not going anyway.

I know the replacement I am doing for both Allure cruises after the first two cruises in January, but I am not saying until I book that on Monday. H

  8. Well that is interesting. The last time they had to pull Allure to fix a pod issue we were booked on the first sailing after the fix. It now appears that we are booked on the first sailing after this fix. I was nervous the last time that the ship would not be ready in time for our sailing and I guess I'll go through the same nerves this time.

Just checked the calendar. We have two week cushion this time.

We were on the 1/21 cruise, and on the 1/28 cruise with you. Waiting to see if they cancel the 1/28 cruise before I cancel, for future benefits. Will cancel on 10/14 if RCI Has not yet cancelled the sailing. Cannot hurt to hang onto the booking. Will book another cruise line next week. H

  9. That Millennium is going to sail Europe in 2018 is very unlikely, she is not listed there anymore in 2018, and they could not cancel all those itineraries planned until May 2018...

But INFINITY is listed on different Med ports in 2018 - Gibraltar and Nice for example.

Someone mentioned above an S-class ship currently serving Europe will fit in for other itineraries.

So maybe that one will be replaced by Infinity in Europe.

Equinox is listed at St. Maarten throughout the summer season 2018. So pretty unlikely to have her in Europe again.

Solstice, Silhouette and Reflection are listed on Northern Europe, Connie in Med for 2018.

Seems there will be some major shifting on the ships deployments...

So Europe might be served by the following ships:

    -Reflection from Southampton

    -Silhouette?

    -Solstice from Amsterdam

-Connie and Infinity from different ports in Med

    Eclipse to Alaska????

I think it all has to do with world security. Equinox came back to the USA for that reason. Are radical activities going to quiet down or expand in Europe. 8 to 10 more major events could be a determining factor. It only takes a 5% change in bookings for a big effect to happen. 95% of the people are not effected, but doubt creates delay in some cruisers. H

Take Florida. Their hotel bookings are off 15% over the last two months and future bookings just because of Zika virus. H

  10. Bone head play by X. With the latest polls showing an almost dead heat, this political statement by a business will offend about half of the people in the US that are watching the debate.

However there is a silver lining here. If enough of the offended people cancel and/or refuse to book X, Lisa will be forced to lower the rates to fill the ships. What a great gift to those of us who do not care which of the two clowns win.

    Sorry about the stockholders

You are so correct. If I owned the company no way would I have allowed the CEO to piss off many customers and create the slightest backlash. Celebrity is not a hold hands across the ocean company, but a company looking for people to spend their extra money on a luxury item SO THEY CAN PROFIT. They are not opening the ships to people without excess money. The message is not aligned to the world population. The average cruising family income in USA is $120,000. That is a wall that can be climbed, but not easily by most in the world. H

  11. Nothing to do with Pulse. I was referring to their very public, very political, very well funded, very vocal opposition to equal marriage - they poured millions into political campaigns trying to prevent it from becoming legal (politics and religion often being bed fellows)

    http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/1703770

Anyway, I don't want this to descend into a debate about chick-fil-a I just named them as a company I'd avoid based on their political stances.

Your summary is appropriate and applies to us all, and many try to avoid a company based on their political stances, and Celebrity is a company. H

  12. Agree

This CEO has been interviewed -- just google Celebrity no borders and the CEO's name.

I googled and found a website beginning with an S and her new campaign is not only intentionally timed to coincide with the debates but hints that her regular customers would be aligned with her branding.

No, this Elite (hate that word) cruiser belongs in the other basket. [emoji3]

I cruise to escape and relax. I'm offended.

    There are other cruise lines.

You are correct. Her attitude by this statement, share her feelings for us. Lisa said; “Will some people reject what I’m saying? Yes,” she continued. “Do I care? I do not."

Her mistake is that at least 50% will resent how she has orchestrated the ad, and she is paying for it with cruisers money. I think her parent company is not against walls, and put up a wall in Labadee to keep out the citizens native to Labadee for our safety. Sometimes safety overrides utopia.

She needs to worry about the 50%+ having a negative thought in the back of their mind about Celebrity. H

  13. Do not see a problem. 100 million viewers! In the biz its called an Institutional ad as I recall.

The problem is that the CEO, influenced this and knows it is a politically designed ad because of its timing and positions of the candidates. She even said the following; “Will some people reject what I’m saying? Yes,” she continued. “Do I care? I do not."

Travel Weekly explained it like this; "The anti-wall/open border narrative would suggest the ad is a direct challenge to Republican candidate Donald Trump’s positions on immigration"

I think she has the right to express her feelings in a personal way, but not with the money cruisers provide being political thru the back door.

    Here is the entire article;

    http://www.travelweekly.com/Cruise-Travel/Celebrity-Cruises-to-leverage-audience-and-CEO-passion-after-debate-tonight?cid=eltrdb

Of course, many will like and appreciate Celebrity's political influence and many will object. It is for each of us to decide. I think it is wrong and the ad should be delayed until after elections because of the political message. I have five more 10 day Celebrity cruises booked. I do not like the negative thoughts about Celebrity in the back of my mind.
