  1. My travel agent posted a notice on facebook that NCL has announced new butler drawn bath services for suite passengers.

Different prices will get different types of baths.

But the part that I was most curious about was the statement that these services will be done by a certified butler.

Does anyone know who certifies NCL butlers and if they have to have specialized training and take tests to get their certification?

  2. Itineraries for ESCAPE?? Good question.

At first I assume, she offers a Transatlantic from Southampton to the US east coast (Miami or NYC), and maybe before some short inaugural cruises...

I could imagine that she sails the 7-night-Western-Caribbean cruises that currently EPIC offers, or she replaces GEM out of NYC, that NCL has two mega-ships out of NYC! :D

I think ESCPAE would be too large for the Panama Canal...

All of NCL's new ships are too large for the Panama Canal, including the Epic. It's not that they won't fit, it's because Panama will not allow ships with overhanging lifeboats to go through the canal. All of NCL's new ships from the Epic on have overhanging lifeboats, where their older ships have the lifeboats tucked in.

  3. In fact you had a frozen oyster every-time you ordered them no matter how hot. ;)

In this day and time, most seafood you get is going to be frozen, unless you live next to the water.

  4. I can't understand why anyone misses the frozen oysters often served still cold in the center. ;)

I never had a frozen oyster anytime I ordered them on NCL. They were always piping HOT.

  5. One last note. We also ate at Ocean Blue on the one night cruise. I will return to Cagneys long before we will ever return there. Canceled our reservations for 14 tonight. The Raw Bar was very good but very pricey.

    Thanks for this heads up...

  6. This is certainly not a pub menu but is very consistent with what major high end steakhouses are doing now. This menu isn't dissimilar from what the newest Vegas steakhouses operated by the celebrity chefs are doing. In fact the biggest differences I see between the newly opened Gordon Ramsay steak (yes, I've eaten there) and Cagneys is 1. Meat quality , GS steak serves only prime and we are not sure just how high or low the selections will be at Cagneys. 2. Price, GS steak set us back $250 for just apps, entree and sides. Cagneys will be $60 for two including apps(more than one if you like), soup(more than one if you like), salad(more than one if you like), entree, dessert(more than one if you like)

Now, GS Steak was simply amazing but at that price it should be I'm willing to wager the Cagneys steaks will be in the very good range which with every thing else your getting makes it more than worth the money. Life would be boring without a little change.

Anyway, they will be getting my $60 in August on the Breakaway.

Just curious as to how many people were in your party when you ate at the Gordon Ramsay Steak House?

  7. First of all it doesn't matter which ship's menu you look at...they are identical across the entire fleet. I just happened to use the one from the Dawn.

If there's a separate menu, why does this menu say ""$10 per each additional entree"? That's the price...right on the linked menu.

The chance of getting a correct answer from NCL telephone customer service, about something that was put into place literally only a couple of days ago isn't very good. What's in their best marketing interests has nothing to do with it...we're talking about an historical inability to properly train telephone service staff. It's often even hard to get a correct answer to a question about something that hasn't changed for years. Maybe "Steve" is right, but I'm willing to wager he isn't.

I have to agree with you about NCL's telephone service staff. They are definitely not trained properly.

Several years ago, I decided to try using a NCL personal consultant. It was sad when I knew more about the ships than she did.

In questioning her, I found she had never been on a NCL cruise and she lived in Phoenix.

  8. Perhaps so, but personally I hated it...more tomato bisque with a bit of lobster.

On the other hand, I don't read any Upcharge Items here...so the Lobster Tail is the same...wonder if this is for the usual unlimited aps, soups, salads and desserts but just the one entree? :D

I was told just one entree per person... no more surf and turf

  9. Is this the complete menu? No Prime Rib at a steak house? No more crabcakes? The two things that I went to Cagney's for. Very disappointing.

Yes, this is the complete menu... and there is no more prime rib or crab cakes. Hopefully, there will be enough complaints to NCL for them to see the error of their ways and bring these two items back, along with the chopped salad and oysters

  11. LOL. I used to watch all those shows. Night Gallery, One Step Beyiond, Chiller Theatre, Outer Limits and of course, Twilight Zone. Dolls that come to life are creepy. Every gome to the Shelburne Museum? They have a whole doll exhiit and I wanted out of there real fast. I kept telling my DH that they come to life at night!

I have been on the Ghost Tour in KW and heard about Robert!

    Creeeeepy!

or at least the house he used to live in until they moved him to the museum.

While his doll figure might be at the museum, I think his spirit is still in the house, which is now a B&B called the Artists House.

We stayed there last June and the first night we were there I got up to go to the bathroom around 5:30 a.m. (it was still dark). As I was making my way back from the bathroom, I suddenly felt a push in my back and I went flying back into the bed...

That was the only night any thing strange happened, although you do get to hear Robert's story twice a night as the ghost tour comes by...

  12. We will be going on the Dawn for the nine day cruise on December 18 and I am looking forward to seeing if I can see any ghosts...

Coka had told us to look for the spirt on the Spirit before our cruise last April and although we didn't see one, we did have an encounter with one...

Like a previous poster, we too heard the story of the ghost on the Spirit and talked to several crew members who had seen this ghost...

However, our ghost haunts the aft of the ship, which included our cabin...

One afternoon we were sitting in the cabin when the doorbell rang... when I opened the door, I noticed the woman in the cabin down the hall from us was also looking out her door.

She asked me if my doorbell had rung and I told her it had... from our cabins you can see all the way to the other end of the ship and there was no one in sight on either hallway...

When I said something to our cabin steward about it, he then told us about the ghost, who he has had several encounters with...

One time he had finished cleaning up the cabin and had closed the door when he remembered he forgot to do something... when he opened the door and walked in he found one of the living room chairs (this was a suite) had been turned towards the balcony window... he said he got a rather eerie feeling and left the cabin as quickly as he could...

He also opened up a cabin when it is empty to find the lights on, things have been moved around, other than the furniture...

We had no encounters on our last cruise on the Sky but I did have an encounter with a spirit named Robert when he stayed at the Artist House in Key West after our cruise.

Robert is a doll, who haunts this bed and breakfast... I got up during the night to go to the bathroom and as I was coming back to bed, I was violently hit from behind and knocked into the bed...

We stayed two more nights but he never bothered me after that...
