  1. Tonight is a sad night as I have to get off the ship tomorrow. Despite some food issues the first two nights, and slicing my toe on a shard of glass (I did not break anything so it wasn't me) on the bathroom floor, this has been a wonderful cruise. The best part has been sailing with Gail again, as it's been way too long since I've been able to do so. Not going to let it happen again, as I hope to book the Summit for the return trip from San Juan next April. If I had not already had a trip to Disneyworld planned for next week I would have done a BTB this time.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the second cruise goes. I'm sure Gail will have a wonderful time. I've always loved reading her reports and I look forward to the second part of this one. It was great being a part of one of her reviews again!

  2. I'm very glad you're feeling better and you're going on this cruise. I'm most glad that I'm going too! It's been way too long since I've been able to go on a cruise with you. I totally agree with what others have said, while this is a cruise board, it's also way more than that. In some ways we're a family and I like getting updates on how everyone is doing.

  3. There is program advertised in dance magazines called "Stars at Sea". This program sells cruises to dance groups as an alternative to the expense of going to a dance competition.

The "alternative" part is that the dance teams gets to perform a show in the ship's theater or lounge rather than performing at a dance competition.

Most of their bookings are on Royal Caribbean Ships, with a few now on Celebrity.

    My questions are:

Has anybody ever heard of this or seen a performance by a dance group on a ship?

Our studio director is looking into this for next year instead of the dance competition that we normally attend. Since we love cruising, we really wouldn't mind this, but I really don't see it as much more for the studio members to go on a vacation together and can't really see it as an opportunity to improve their dance skills.

    Hi Suzanne!

There was a group onboard the first leg of the btb on Grandeur I was on in April. In our case it wasn't a good experience. The dancers were really, to be nice, not good. The teens in the group were, as a general rule, not well behaved either. They ran through the ship with little supervision, pushing and shoving their way through. One was even injured when he got in a shoving match with another in the group and fell down some stairs.

I know your group would be nothing like this, in fact if you decide to do it let me know. I would enjoy seeing your group perform! Hopefully it would take the bad taste the other group left with us.

  4. My first cruise was in June 1989 on NCL's Starward. I wasn't that crazy about the cruise and didn't go again until 1994 on Carnival's Canivale. I loved that cruise, and that's where my cruise addiction began. My first HAL cruise is on Maasdam in October and I can't wait!

Come on Lois....Let do a cruise together so we can all ignore the CD :D.

Well that certainly sounds good to me! Where do we sign up?

I do think Allan King does a very good job, he's always very accessible on a cruise and quite friendly, but I have to agree the cruise director really doesn't have much of an effect on my cruise at all.
