I booked a Suite GTY straight through RCCL and online only indicates #GTY and my receipt only says GTY.  I called and said why is there no indication of suite GTY anywhere and the agent says well we show it here and you need to trust you will be assigned a suite.....not sure how I want to approach this but basically I do not have the warm fuzzy feeling I just need to let it ride and all will turn out well.

We booked an ocean view balcony guarantee and ours said the same thing, just GTY. I called Royal and they said it showed on their end and assured me it was for an ocean view balcony. When we got assigned we received a hump cabin with large balcony and we are thrilled!

Has anyone taken the excursion to Punta Sur Eco Park with Oasis of the seas?

We were looking at the Jeep to Punta Sur Eco Park through Royal but havent found much out about it. I would really like to see the light house there and the Jeeps just sounded like fun.

Speaking only for myself, I'm sailing Mariner next year with my wife, my two brothers, their wives, various children aged 3-16, and my 75 year old mother. We have 4 staterooms spread over 3 decks, forward, mid-ship, and aft. It can often be difficult to get everyone on the same page. Kids can be fine one minute and belly aching the next. My mother's arthritis can act up. People wake up at radically different times. Just trying to get everyone together for a meal can be challenging. Being able to group text just makes it a lot easier to see where people are and come up with convenient / workable meeting places and times. Nobody is going to walk to the opposite side of the ship to stick a Post-it to someone's door every time they leave the cabin. And "meet me here at 9:15" is easy to say, but often harder to execute.

I agree 100%! Leaving a post it is all well and good but how do you even know they will go back to their cabin and get the message? Then you are just sitting and waiting for someone that doesnt even know you are there. It's vacation, plans change and it would be so much easier to send a text.

We’ve done 2 things- each cabin has WiFi for messaging, whiteboard on door.  I really prefer us each having text messaging 🙂

I prefer texting also but the last time we cruised was in 2013. We still had flip phones and the internet package on the ships were outrageous! They charged by the hour so you had to remember to sign off when you werent using it or you would rack up a ton of charges Lol. So if we buy just the surf package for 2 devices can we use one password on our phone and give the other couple the password for the other device to use on their phone? That way we would each have a phone to text each other while on the ship.

  5. We have 4 people booked on the Harmony of the Seas in 2 different cabins in different areas of the ship. What is the best way for us to communicate and find each other while on the cruise? I have read that you can use the Royal Caribbean app while on board without having to have the WiFi package and you can link with other passengers through the app. So do I understand correct that we could send messages through the app without having the WiFi package? Or if we get the internet package for 2 devices can we sign on with one of our phones and one of theirs to text each other and keep our phones in airplane mode? Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Maybe narrow it down as to what type of activities you are interested in? Demographics - age, mobility of your group?

also suggest you ask individually on each port of call to get more helpful information. Your question is too general as it stands.

My boyfriend and I are both 22, I turn 23 during the cruise. We are both open to just about anything. This is my first cruise, my parents have done cruises but not at these ports except for Coco Cay and that was in 2012. We would love to snorkle or zip line or animal encounters, I dont really have anything specific in mind. I'm open to any and all suggestions.

  7. I forgot to thank you for posting the Cruise Compasses. They are so helpful for people who are planning their cruise. I wonder why the cruise lines don't send you a link to download them ahead of the cruise. Sure, things change, but chances are, the week before your cruise, they're pretty much set with what they are going to do, don't you think?

You are welcome for the cruise compasses. We saw alot of people wanting them so we tried to keep everything we could for those interested. I dont even think we really used them. We were kind of laid back and didn't plan anything this trip but had a wonderful time. Cindy

  8. Jeff & Cindy...Thank you for your entertaining colorful, and cheerful photo review...especially all that food porn. I think the new menu does make quite a difference in the food. :):):):)

Thank you cruiseclues! We really had a great time and hope that the review will help someone looking at this ship and entertain anyone already booked and just building excitement while they wait to board! The food was great and I loved taking pictures of it, although I am sure I got a few strange looks too! Oh well who cares, I was on vacation! :D Happy cruising! Cindy

  9. so can you give us some pre and post cruise reviews? (unless I missed it)

Did you stay in Tampa the night before or after? Where did you stay? Any photos of hotel or anything else in Tampa?

Suggestions as to what to do. We are staying one night pre cruise and right now we are talking about catching the trolley to Ybor on Sunday night.

What about post cruise? did you head for home right away? Our flight home isn't till late afternoon so considering a boat tour or open to other suggestions.

    Great review. Thanks for sharing

Thank you, I have a cousin that lives in Riverview so we drove down the day before departure and stayed at the Country Inn & Suites in Brandon/Riverview/Tampa area. We didn't take any pictures sorry but it was a nice hotel in a safe area and right around the corner from the Westfield Mall which was beautiful by the way. The mall was so big it required two Starbucks! But anyway we got to visit a little with my cousin then had a nice dinner at Red Lobster before turning in. The hotel was about 7-10 miles from the port but we headed over about 9:30 I think. We had Valet parking at the port which was only $20 more than parking yourself and let me tell you it was sooo worth it and sooo easy! Pulled right up to the front the valet scanned our prepaid barcode took our luggage out and gave them to the porters and gave us a ticket. We walked maybe 20 feet to the desk signed a paper and went straight up to the terminal to wait to board and start the most wonderful vacation.

The day of departure they had everybody ready to leave early, we found out they were expecting a big coast guard inspection, so we were off by 8:30 and headed home.

    Cindy
