  1. I have been following along on your adventure because we are going on the Emerald Princess, May 4th to Hawaii. I have gotten so much joy out of your three bears. 🙂 You must have a separate suitcase for all of their outfits and accessories. I love the way you take them around the ship with you and display them.  One other thing the Polynesian Cultural Center was the highlight of our trip in 2017.  We booked directly with the PCC and had our own tour guide for my husband and I.  They picked us up right at the pier by bus and we got there about 10am.  We had the entire day to see all of the villages and the hula show on the water.  We had the Luau in the evening and then we were back on the ship in plenty of time.  The tour with the Luau was called the "Breath of Life".  It was not cheap but worth every penny.  And our tour guide was a delightful young student who was so knowledgeable about everything. Enjoy the rest of your cruise!  Smooth Sailing! 🙂

  2. On Celebrity everyone dashed off together.

We used SPB and had friends who took the ship tour. 2 day tour, similarly priced.

Main differences were that we had a subway ride and took the hydrofoil to Peterhof, leaving us more time there.

Hi MS, we are booked on the two day Russian tour with SPB tours also. How was your experience? Did you feel you got your money’s worth? Did you feel safe the entire time? We sail April 28 on the Viking Sky. Thanks for any input you can provide.

  3. Hi I’m after some advice.

It’s my fiftieth birthday later this year and I really want to go on a cruise to celebrate my family.

My problem is that my husband is not so keen. A couple of years ago he started wetting the bed. It has been so embarrassing and frustrating for him. At first he was in denial and thought it was just “one offs”, too much to drink, deep sleeping etc., and would just go away. But it just kept on happening. He finally went to the doctors and after lots and lots of tests with lots and lots of doctors it was discovered he has spinal stenosis which has caused nerve damage to the nerves controlling his bladder and sleep apnea which makes him “wake up” even though he doesn’t recognise it. Hence when he “awakes” with a full bladder, which he doesn’t feel, he pees in the bed. He has had a spinal operation and uses a CPAP machine, which has improved the problem but hasn’t completely resolved it.

He has also tried wearing adult nappies to bed... which he hates, and doesn’t always work because he sleeps on his sides, and medications which have been useless (just make him really thirsty and needing to drink more, and didn’t stop it anyway).

At home we have a waterproof mattress protector and reusable bed pad, which we take on holidays as well. When he go away on holidays we only stay in apartments or cabins with washing machines and dryers so we can manage ourselves. If he goes away on overnight business trips he only stays in 5 star hotels so he can send an email to get a protector placed on the bed, check in late, and if the bed is wet in the morning he will strip the bed, leave a large tip and checkout early, to avoid coming face to face with housekeeping staff. We never stay with friends or family.

He doesn’t want to go on a cruise because he says that you know the housekeeping staff, who will know he wets the bed and that on cruise ships the laundry facilities are public and he will be too embarrassed taking the sheets, protector and pad to be laundered in public.

I have offered to do the laundry for him and said that others will assume that it is the kids that have the problem. But he is too humiliated and proud to allow me to take on this responsibility.

I’m at my wits end. Has anyone out there had to deal with this problem?

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to deal with laundering the wet sheets and protectors privately and discretely?

Did you know they make rubber pants for adults? Like the kind they use on babies. He could wear these at night and they do not leak. Check them out online. Just type in adult rubber pants. They come in various sizes and colors. Hope this helps. [emoji846]

  4. I can’t speak for HAL, but Princess Cruise Line is sorely lacking when it it comes to Suite perks. We just spent 15 days in the Grand Suite on he Star. No butler, no Concierge. You get 3 or 4 little baby size bottles of alcohol in your room. They will not exchange them for something you would actually like to drink, and they do not refill them. No priority seating at the shows. The only perk we found worth while was free laundry service, which we used 4 times in our 15 days. Anyone else experience this on Princess?

  5. :( I'm starting to get a phobia. noro virus,bad/small food portions.leaking plumbing, long lines at buffets,mean/rude people, excessive corkage fees and tipping, maniacs on scooters, lounge chair poachers and now linens. This might well be the worst 10k I've spent.

You and me both c- boy.

Our first cruise on Princess is next Sunday. I am kinda of fearing the worst after reading all of these comments. We paid a lot of money for our Suite on the Star Princess to Hawaii. [emoji15][emoji15][emoji15]

  6. Those who don't want to dress up on elegant night are free to go to the buffet

We recently went on the Queen Mary 2. For formal night, if you are not dressed appropriately you are not allowed above decks. Buffet only. For some that is ok. For some, they like to dress up and look nice. [emoji6]

  7. You should make up a cool story to tell them. Something like it's how you dispose of all the income you make off of the moonshine that you brew and distribute. Tell them that Moonshiners show on TV is actually about your life, those people all work for you.

Or how you were strolling down the beach and tripped over a piece of wood on one of your first cruises, you dug it up and it was filled with gold doubloons and now you travel on the cruise ship trying to find the tribe this gold belongs to in order to give them back the gold and remove the curse. (This way if they ask you for some you can say I wouldn't wish this curse upon you)

I love this response! What a creative sense of humor!

I tell people that cruising is a very good value for the money. And I highly recommend it. [emoji7]

  8. Yes there is a charge in any cabin for the UBB.

You have the special suite breakfast in one of the specialty restaurants (depending on ship) with no charge.

You can also order whatever you want for breakfast in a suite from RS. No charge.

So if I can order whatever I want from room service at no charge if I am in a suite, couldn't I just order the items I wanted for breakfast in our suite?

This will be our first time on Princess, so sorry for all the questions.

  9. Because you are in a suite you get Club Class dining in the MDR

You can show up when you want to eat and be seated immediately.... this is based on what others have shared on cruise critic regarding Suite accommodations and the Club Class perks that are included

Thanks for the info. We are looking forward to the QM2, as it will be our first time on her. If we want to be at a table with others do we need to do anything?

  10. Oh, how I adore sea days. I splurge on The Sanctuary, put on some headphones, sob to Adele, watch the ocean, read, write and enjoy the delivery of liquor, lunch and afternoon tea. I read 10 books on our TA. I love, love, love sea days. No voice to listen to except for mine.

I feel the same way! Listen to Adele and cry. I love to read, play trivia, go to the casino. Take a nap!
