Where are you seeing this on the website?  What does your invoice say?  Did your upgrade to a guarantee suite an AI fare?

I upgraded to an AI fare, so perhaps they system has not caught up with my upgrade. A charge for gratuities is not on my invoice, only on my Celebrity account when I log in.  Thanks for the info; I will double check the situation!

Where were they charged to your account?  What type of gratuities?

The daily gratuity charge is usually included in Retreat bookings but if for some reason you have a cruise only fare, they wouldn't show up on your account until you board (unless you proactively pre-pay them).

Gratuities for the drink package should be included with the All Included fare.

If you book specialty dining, there would be gratuities added on to that.  Spa purchases would also have gratuities added on.

Thank you for the response. I just noticed them when I logged into my Celebrity account. We were originally in an infinite veranda, but upgraded to a guarantee suite ( not move up).

  3. We are booked in a sky suite in March and gratuities were just charged to our account. Are gratuities different than tips? I was under the impression gratuities/tips were included for Retreat cruisers. First time on Celebrity and looking forward to it!  Will definitely bring cash for other tipping as needed.

    Thanks for any input.

  4. I also just got the move up offer prompt for our March 18 cruise. Currently have a midship prime veranda. Minimum offer is $150 pp. for upgrade.  I don't like the idea of not knowing where my stateroom will be, but Blu dining and spa amenities would be nice. Since it is spring break week, the ship will likely be full and I am thinking it may even be hard to get in the thermal spa spaces. Still thinking about it!

  5. Thank you, Marga, for the information. I have a cruise out of Copenhagen on June 17th (flying into Amsterdam first). Final payment is March 17th, and I am not confident about paying the balance with so much up in the air - including our flights. Popular opinion is that we will not cruise, but I feel like positivity rates are on the decline,  and there is a small chance we could cruise if we can get into Europe. If so, we could be some of the first to restart, and maybe at half capacity on the ship. I will continue to be patient and hope for the best! It's still February, so there is time!

Jewel of the Seas is currently scheduled for sailings from Copenhagen from May. My best guess is that travel restrictions for entry into Denmark will still be imposed by May and June  - it will probably not be possible to enter without restrictions as for example quarantine.

However much can change but I sense it might not be to the better.

Thank you so much for the response. I am hoping for a miracle I suppose!

  7. Cruising out of Copenhagen on June 17th, 2021, and spending three nights pre-cruise in Copenhagen. The ship "Jewel" is already docked in Europe. Any locals or travelers know how travel is looking in Northern Europe? Is  there a chance this cruise might actually happen because the ship is already docked there instead of leaving from a U.S. port? I understand there may be a testing or vaccine requirement if it happens at all!

  8. If you do choose to go to CK, read “The Bloodletter’s Daughter”. Our tour guide told us about it on our tour and I wish I had read it in advance. One of the most unique towns I have ever visited! We stopped for a quick snack at an old tavern on the river on a lovely April day. The bus ride was long but comfortable and we learned lots about Czech Republic from great guide. Very worth it!

Thanks for the book recommendation. I am visiting CK in June!

  9. Thanks for all of the information and reviews in this thread on Gate One. I just booked a cruise for my husband (his first trip to Europe) on Gate 1 Budapest to Nuremberg, 11 days this summer. I have previously been on Viking and AmaWaterways, (with my sister) and from all of the reviews I don't need to be concerned that Gate One isn't a reputable river cruise provider. Now I just have to wait until June 2018. Got a suite too!:D

  10. Booked for a March 18th cruise! Have to go when it is spring break. Standard cabins are sold out, so went for the balcony since we got such a great price. It will be a roll of the dice as far as the weather goes. Planning to take jackets, scarves, etc. Even in chilly weather, there will still be much to see and do, as well as great food.

  11. Thank you "coordinator 23" for all of the info on the Ruby........Going in March! Have been on 5 RCCL and only 1 other Princess which was a "caribbean sampler"..........a short weekender cruise on the Caribbean Princess. It sounds like the Ruby Princess is going to be perfect for us! Happy Cruising!
