  1. I too am wondering about when I'll get my cabin assignment. I'm sailing on the Koningsdam in five days and I still see Guar on all the docs. What makes my situation a little different is I'm meeting a buddy on the ship and he's doing the twenty-one days while I'm I'm only going for ten. We booked together (we are both straight, not that that matters) and neither one of us was charged a single supplement. He got his cabin at booking while my docs don't even say Fort Lauderdale as the port of departure. we have different booking numbers also. I have a feeling that when the computers figure it out I'll be put in his room, but it would be nice to get a cabin of my own:D.

Please let us know what happens! (yn)

I guess I'll find out when I get to the ship tomorrow. The HAL website has been down since yesterday afternoon and I'm flying in a few hours, probably won't have internet access at the little hotel in FLL. Good thing I printed a boarding pass that has Guarantee on it before the sight went down.

  3. Hi all. I'm sailing on Koningsdam on March 12th and a couple of weeks ago got an email from HAL saying Amber Cove was being replaced By Samana "to enhance your guest experience". today I got one stating the original itinerary has been reinstated. I was just wondering if anybody knows the reason for the original switch and also the reason for the switch back. It's no big deal to me either way, I'm just curious.

    Thanks

    JM

  4. As of about 15 minutes ago I still have not seen anyone get on. There has to be about a thousand or more people waiting. I know this isn't HAL's fault but there seems to me that they could communicate better with the masses waiting for the escalator. Oh well back to Hooters.

  5. i too will be on Friday's Oosterdam cruise. I've only been on one Code Red cruise and one post CR cruise and found it amusing that neither cruise line (HAL and NCL) found it prudent to shut down the slots where you could see five, six or more people touch the machines one after another. i was on the second leg of a repo cruise during the SARS scare and when we got to Bermuda we had to wait about 3-4 hours after docking to get off.

  6. When looking at the Veendam schedule i noticed that there is nothing on the HAL website from when Veendam returns to Tampa on 3/27 and when she sails from FLL on 4/9. I can't seem to find any info on the missing 13 days. does anyone with a little more internet savvy than me know whats going on? Thanks, JM

  7. We're on the 3/6 sailing on the Star. I noticed yesterday that our itinerary was switched around and now we're going to Belize City first instead of Roatan. There are no shore excursions listed for either port. Did this happen to any other sailings or just ours?

I'm also on 3/6 and just noticed the same thing. i think they will reappear once all the scheduling can be worked out with the venders. as far as missing HC of course I'm disappointed (but not surprised). Unless a great excursion opens up i will stay on the ship. I refuse to drink another Belikin beer in my life. If I had known for sure that HC was a no go before final payment I would have switched to HAL since I'll be in Tampa that weekend for a Trop Rock fest anyway and why not jump on a ship.

  8. You don't need "Epic Menus" as the MDR menus are the same across the entire fleet.

That aside, NCL uses 14 different menus in their MDRs. Menu #1 is always used on embarkation day. For the rest of your cruise any one of the remaining 13 menus might be used on any given day...the chef on each ship decides what the rotation will be.

With 14 menus to rotate thru, you will not see repeating menus from cruise to cruise...IOW what is served on the Epic this Tuesday will not be what they serve next Tuesday.

You can use posted menus to get an idea of the types of selections offered, but you will not be able to use them to accurately plan out what will be served on a future cruise...with the sole exception of embarkation day.

    Thanks Shark

After this one is over I'm going B2B in March for the first time in a long time and was wondering about the menus.

  9. Good morning!

Does anyone have a link or copies to recent menus for the Epic's main dining room? Trying to figure out which nights are best to book some of the other restaurants. We'll be on the Epic over Xmas on their Eastern itinerary.

    Thank you!

I'm going on the Epic today, and if no one gets that info to you I will post next week when I get back.
