  1. Just got an email from Azamara confirming that our 8-day Caribbean cruise has now become a 10-day Cuba-exclusive cruise. Nothing against Cuba, been there before and really liked it, but just not what we had booked. The extra two days also messes with our vacation plans...

So we're now likely going to be cancelling what was going to be our first cruise with Azamara. Not very happy about this.

  2. OK - things are getting stranger...

As I mentioned yesterday, I called Azamara and they stated that there was nothing to worry about, the cruises were simply sold out and thus they don't appear on the website anymore. Sounded kinda fishy to me, as it isn't too common for three cruises to completely sell-out overnight (as was the case). But, since the reservation was still showing up under my LCV profile on the My Azamara website, I figured all was good.

This morning I take a peek to see if anything had changed... my reservation is no longer there! Tried adding it back to my profile with the confirmation number, but it won't let me.

Would be nice to get some answers from Azamara.

  3. I was also curious about this as we're booked on the March 9, 2018 sailing. I called Azamara and they said that the Quest's Caribbean cruises were simply sold out!

I find it kinda odd that all the Quest's sailings in March 2018 would have sold out simultaneously overnight?!? But then again, maybe one of the bigger travel agencies had a big sale...

  4. Glad you guys had fun! We'll be sailing on the Century for the upcoming transpacific cruise (23 nights - YES)! Can't wait...

We've met Chip and Ginny before, what a wonderful couple. Had a blast with them at the Chef's Table on the Century two years ago.

  5. Why do I open these threads? It's like Groundhog Day the movie.

Thanks for stating the obvious - my thoughts exactly. Like banging my head against the wall over, and over, and over again. :D

Just had the same feeling while reading a four-page thread on why steam irons aren't allowed on ships... Maybe the programmers at the CC boards could come up with a filter that would automatically direct posters to the FAQ when they ask the same questions over and over again?

Sorry - kinda grumpy today. Thank God my next cruise is just a few days away. ;)

    Cheers,

    Luc

  6. Agree with most of what has been posted so far - it's a gamble, depending on the Maître D' at the door. I also find that it could be considered slightly disrespectful to other cruisemates who follow the dress code.

Another suggestion if luggage space is tight would be to rent a tux or jacket. I've rented from Cruiseline Formals a few times and loved it. On embarkation day, your tux is delivered to your room. On the last day of the cruise, simply leave it in the cabin closet. If your husband is already bringing dress pants and shirt, you could simply rent a jacket.

    Have a great cruise!

  7. (...)The evening we left Lisbon was actually the rockiest - our cabin was on the aft, so lots of motion. Everything on the shelf in the bathroom went flying, the drawers and closet were opening and closing all night, our fruit bowl, flowers and glasses on the dresser counter hit the floor! It was very difficult to sleep, but fun at the same time!

Yeah - remember that night! We were in one of the Sunset Verandas on Deck 6 (all the way aft)! Drawers opening and closing, closet doors sliding open, stuff rolling off the dresser... IT WAS GREAT!!! :D Although the lack of sleep did leave us groggy the next morning, I actually enjoyed the rough seas. Made the crossing so much more authentic!

Thanks for posting this - what great memories. Hope to see you guys again someday... Any chance you're considering Hawaii on the Century next year? ;)

    Cheers,

    Luc & Suzanne
