I have a gift from my travel agent for dinner for 2 at a specialty restaurant for an upcoming cruise. I went to book it for a sea day but I am asked to give my credit card approval. Is there a way to book it with my gift?

I was a solo passenger on the Ruby in May for the 10 day cruise to Alaska and had, as always, a great time on the ship. There was body lotion on my sink and another tube when it ran low. I look forward to returning on the Ruby in September for the cruise to Vancouver.

As a solo traveler, I always head to the dining room for breakfast and dinner and when I enter I always say, "share a table please". It's a wonderful way to have conversations about people's day ahead, what itinerary they did the day before and my disposable income is nothing to write home about but there is always some for a Princess cruise. Enjoy and ask for 2 pieces of birthday cake!

Princess has been a great fit for me as a solo passenger and also when I bring a friend. Sailed on the Ruby to Alaska in August and loved the Prince Rupert port and will return to the Ruby in late September for the seven day Vancouver cruise.
I believe I have sailed 16 times over the years on various itineraries and even enjoyed the hurricane Sandy cruise that kept us sailing up and down the St. Lawrence seaway since all the ports from Boston, New York, Rhode Island were damaged and not workable.
Princess provides a product that makes it seem like you are coming home when you step aboard.

The best thing about the lounge is where it's held. The views are wonderful with a drink to enjoy.

Just saw the change in my cruise excursions. I am sailing on the 20th. Looking forward to it.

Thanks so much for all your replies. I was counting on wearing my trail shoes to the ship because of the room they would take up and carrying a jacket. I went to India for a month years ago with a carry on but I was younger then! Thanks for the tip about the fire doors not being unlocked. I really appreciate it.

I have always showed up at the terminal and handed my suitcase to one of the union workers and then got in line to board. This cruise is only 10 days and I wonder if anyone has just rolled up the ramp with their carryon and put it in their cabin while it is being made ready...just deposit it in the closet and then returned to the Lido deck.

Thank you to each and every one of you for your information. I have been a frequent cruiser but have never paid any attention to the roll calls. I won't make that mistake any longer.

Princess is using this hotel for June 2022 for the 14 Day Midnight Sun precruise.
Anyone stayed there before?

Any comments on the itinerary and the 9 ports?

Princess sent us an email yesterday. Our TA gave us a link to get an appointment on Thursday as we board the ship in Seattle on Sunday. Test costs $150.00.

Have you any favorites among the offering by Viking? 2 Days pre board in Bergen, Ice Land, Oslo.....

Thank you all for your replies. I let my day dreaming escape to my keyboard. The thought and image of being back on the ocean got the better of me. Apologies to all.

I have sailed from LA and San Francisco to Hawaii during the Christmas holidays with family. This year I would be sailing alone which I have done in the past and enjoyed but never during Christmas. The ship is always festive but I wonder if there would be any difficulty in sharing a table in the dining room traveling alone during such a family event.

I know Princess does a good job on providing gluten free menu items for its passengers. Does anyone have any experience as a Vegan with meal choices on Princess? Thank you.

Pam and all others, my husband and I have only sailed Princess (more than any other line) and Celebrity but when I found out that smoking was no longer allowed in cabins or balconies on Holland America, I started looking at their itineries.
I apologize for not doing more homework. The brochure page just got me too excited.
Thank you for your information.

Pam, I know from your comments on Cruise Critic that you have sailed on Holland America with pleasing results.
There is a 14-day Great Alaskan Explorer cruise out of Seattle that visits ports like Kodiak that Princess doesn't and there is more time in ports like Victoria as well.
Have you ever stayed in a balcony cabin that opens out onto the promenade?

I want to thank everyone for their response. I really appreciate the information.

On the September 23 cruise from San Francisco to Vancouver, I don't want to do any ship excursions. I want to spend my time at Pike Place Market and the glass museum. When we arrive at Pier 91, is there transportation at the port into Seattle?
Thanks a lot.:)

I want to thank everyone for their thoughts on the 2 ships. I really appreciated it and learned some things to check on. Thanks again.

The itinerary is the same. Both cruises are in March 2019 with the identical itineraries. I know the Sun Princess is a smaller and older ship but it has been refurbished and cabins added from what I've read.
I have never sailed on the Majestic. I am leaning towards sailing on it. Your thoughts, please.

Just got off the Ruby on August 19th. The time at Glacier Bay was breathtaking. The ship's crew were fantastic, engaging and upbeat. From eating lunch in the main dining room on embarkation and various lunches and dinners, the Ruby was a star and every aspect of the trip including the pre and post hotel stays and transfers to the airport went perfectly. The Ruby to Alaska was a great choice and provided me a wonderful vacation.

I too am a solo traveler but I do not like a fixed dinner time or table but I just walk into the dining room when I am ready to dine and say "I would l like to share a table" and it happens and the conversations are always pleasant.
