  1. Figured I would try asking here instead of a new thread:

Does NCL charge for taking cash off your onboard account? Going on Epic in April via a Foxwoods (CT casino) offer, wondering if I should do a line of credit, or if I can take cash at the tables off my onboard account for no fee (I can on RCL, part of the Casino Royale VIP program).

  2. I'm 95 days out from my first NCL cruise on the Epic, purchased the dining packages last week, but when I go online to try and book it says

We are sorry, this event is not available to book online at the moment. Please check back later or book on board the ship."

Above that it says reserve dining on 4/12, the day the ship leaves.

Am I too far out to book, or is something going on?

  3. Just got off the Independence, which was my first cruise in Club Royale. Had a blast, enjoyed not having to carry cash with me, just took it off my account. Even had some good luck, hitting both a 4oak and straight flush in Ultimate Texas Holdem, plus a straight flush in my 10 minute 3 card poker session.

My question (which I meant to ask the host), is does membership expire if I don't take a cruise every year? I don't think I'll be able to cruise again until late 2015, just wondering if I'll lose my membership.

  4. 5% is crazy! I am thankful we got into the casino club....although we donated way more than a 5% fee lol

Same here, although I won last cruise when I was invited. We sail on the Independence next week, and I'm only bringing a few hundred dollars in small bills, I'll get the rest from the casino as needed (no 5% charge, in fact I'll get 2% back as cash from my CC, that's not a bad deal).

  5. Great review - we will be on Indy in 18 days, first time ever in a Junior Suite. Don't have any excursions planned yet, so your beach reviews gave me some good ideas.

We've only been to Labadee once which was last year, and we scored an over the water Cabana. Not sure what do without one this year - might try the zipline and/or coaster. Anyone have suggestions for which of the beaches to go to for most of the day?

  6. Was on the Allure last week - no giant wins, but lots of good ones.

Straight Flush at Ultimate Texas Hold em which paid 40x on my $10 Trips bet, plus 50x on my $15 Ante bet for a total of $1,150.

The next day at the same table I had four of a kind which paid ~$500.

Hit the two Queen of Hearts side bet at Blackjack for $750 ($6 bet, dealer didnt have blackjack or it would have been $6,000).

I dont usually play slots, but on a whim entered the last $25 slot tournament, made it to the finals and came in 2nd for $550. So close to the free 7 night cruise. I decided to throw $100 in my tournament machine after, and got almost a full screen of wilds for about $600.

  7. Marie was cold so we skipped the ice show and I played in three slot pull. Top twelve score got a final where you could win a cruise. I an not holding out hope as I was fifth in my round.

I was on last week, and happened to be in the casino for the last slot tournament. Entered it, made it to the finals (top 2 from our round went). I was only a few thousand points short of the cruise, but 2nd place got me a nice $550 :)

  8. Thank you! Ugh...sticky. It was AWFUL! And I had no wipes...no water...to wash off with...so, I had to improvise. ;)

See...you saw first-hand evidence of my Directionally-Challenged Self, and you will always bring that up!

And to think...I was on my BEST behavior on that trip, with my young, impressionable daughter in tow. Which is why you didn't see me drinking any of the rum punch on the bus...altho I was soooooooooooo tempted. ;)

Dont feel too bad about spilling the rum. The same thing happened to me with the little bottles of multi-colored Curacao liquor we bought from the factory tour on our first cruise on, well Curacao. It leaked in my luggage though, not on my lap.

  9.

I noticed that my lap was getting…wet. This is curious. I’d been holding the bottles of rum I’d purchased at MaMaDoux in my lap, and when I started investigating, I saw that the bottom of my paper sack was soaked.

Uh oh. This does not bode well.

I opened the sack, and noticed that the lid on the banana rum bottle had not been completely sealed, and I now had a puddle of dark, sticky liquid in my lap. Oh, joy. I quickly sealed the bottle, but I’ve now got rum ALL over my fingers…REALLY sticky, sweet rum…and the only way to deal with it is to begin licking my fingers. Cuz' I HATE sticky on my fingers....a lot. It's one of the (many, sigh) textures that I can't stand. Sticky. Shudder. I had to get it off - and I had to get it off NOW. So I began licking...and licking...and licking....I’m sure I made quite the sight to my fellow cruisers – the lush lady who is licking and slobbering all over her rum-soaked fingers at 11:00 am in the morning…it’s no wonder she’s traveling SOLO. Not to mention – I now REEK of rum…and we’re heading to a perfumery.

Ha..this defintley beats you and your daughter making us (a little) late at every stop on the tour you did last time you were in St. Maarten (nope, never gonna let you live that down) =p

  10.

Oh, NOW you tell me! Where were you when I needed you??!!

I hope you didnt really need it!

FYI, it can be found here:

If you have a Kindle touch, you do need to use the foam bumpers it comes with, but other than that, it works great.

I also can't say anything about mixing water with a Kindle. We were at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas last May, and my Girlfriend had her Kindle in her ginourmous purse. Well I had put a bottle of water in there as well, being the desert and all - having water close by is usually a good thing...except when the flip top comes open in her purse. Cue us standing in line to cash in our chips, and there is water dripping down onto her shoe.

Long story short, I had to buy her a new Kindle, had it shipped next day to our hotel. =p

The decking around the Beach Pool slopes, and there's shallow water around the decking...it was awesome to pull your deck chair into the shallow water and create your own little island. Just be careful to not accidentally drop your Kindle or iPhone into the water surrounding your little island; I'm just sayin'.

Did you find out first hand not to drop your kindle into the Sports pool? I found a waterproof kindle case on Amazon for my Kindle Touch, its great, I was reading while in the pool all last cruise. Had a bunch of people asking about it - totally worth the small amount of hassle it is to put the kindle in and seal the case (it uses basically a heavy duty ziploc seal, with a couple folds thrown in for extra protection.)
