Yes, but it might not. Buy and then if it does go lower, cancel and rebuy. BTW, the 24 hour package, which you can buy with your D discount, starts when you redeem, not at midnight.

Thanks. Never thought about cancelling & rebuying!

Yes, I know it is 24 hours elapsed, which was why I said spreading over midnight, so you get maybe 8 hours one day and the other 16 the next day, or however you want to split it based on time differences etc. So sort of 2 days if you do it right.

  2. I am currently Diamond, so arguably get 2 days of 'free' wi-fi (spready over midnight) but I would still like to get a wi-fi package for those long voyages.

The cost is just a rip off considering they have low cost (to them) Starlink Maritime, but that said, what are the best offers people have received pre-cruise?

I think the best discount that I have ever received is 35% at random times (it's 30% currently), but does the discount go higher than that?

    Thanks

So now they want YOU the customer to pay their emplyee's wages because they don't want to give them a decent salary. Sorry but it is not our job to donate to the cause. I serviced about 300 people a day as a banking customer service rep....making sure all was well with their accounts. I didn't get extra pay or tips for it. I got a salary.

I think we forget that the crew get a 'good' salary too and on a recent cruise the Cruise Director said at a public event in the main theatre that nobody on the ship had a base salary from the company of less than $30'000

I wonder who tips in McDonalds...?

Too bad, and don't get your knickers in a twist over it. You brought up a topic that is easily searchable, as it gets brought up at least weekly. It is also a widely debated topic, so you're going to get people's opinions on it. Don't like it? Don't bring it up.

You're free to have your own tipping patterns. It doesn't mean others will like it or accept it. Fact of the matter is, If you are only tipping "those that have given deserving service", you are stiffing those that you don't see providing services to you that would have received the tip.

I love belonging to a really helpful community full of people that spend their time helpfully answering the specific questions asked, rather than just ranting and forcing their unwanted opinions down people throats…

When we sailed on Getaway in February, we pre-paid our daily service charges.  Yet, I noticed on the app that we were charged anyway.  Went to Guest Services on Day 3 and showed them the proof of payment receipt and they removed them.  Yes, I filled out a form.  And, they were removed on Day 5.  No issues.

However, if you plan to self-tip, you will likely get some resistance as the daily service charge supposedly goes to others behind the scenes that you do not see (some debate on whether this actually happens) as well as your bartenders, servers, and cabin steward.

    Thank you

You can go to guest services the day before disembarking and fill out a form, you will get little to no friction about why you are reducing/removing the DSC.

if you have prepaid you will get the refund after the cruise has ended, if you are paying onboard it’ll be deducted from your onboard account that evening

Just join the queue behind the rest of us brits

Thank you for just answering the question

  7. Hello, Just interested in if anyone has used the NCL process for removing 'service charges' and how they got on with it and how much resistance or delay they received from NCL?

I really don't want to get into the 'tipping' debate' just interested in the NCL charge recovery experience for those that prefer to cash tip those that have given deserving service.

My understanding is Guest Services give you a form and you fill it out and then scan copy and email to them and in a few weeks you get the charges refunded?

Any experiences gratefully received - thank you

  8. Interesting to hear how they treat us cruisers here in Europe/UK differently.

I have just had the unpleasant and bitter experience of finding out that my cruise has dropped nearly £400. I thought it might be worth a call the their London office, but as most have said on here they are just not interested and apparently "MSC do not set the price", so I assume they have a random number generator doing it for them!

I was very polite, but they were just not interested in OBC/Room upgrade, or anything, however small!

Oh well, might not chose to sail with them again unless it is a blinding promotion, which I thought mine was, until this better one!!

  9. I was interested to read this as I never know when the best time to book is. Generally I am not fussy about Cabins and an inside guarantee works for me as it is just somewhere to sleep (I even shower at the Gym, although on Britannia that is not a good experience!)

I have booked early with a good deal and last minute with a good deal and have had upgrades too, but I guess it is just pot luck.

  10. Hi,

Might be too late now, but how will you get to Bournemouth Airport, as it's nowhere near sensible public transport?

Gatwick on the other hand is one train from Portsmouth straight into the terminal. This is what I did last year for the March Transatlantic. I think the first train of the day was £21 return and got to Gatwick about 3 hrs earlier than the flight - ideal.

A return taxi from Portsmouth is about £110

    Good luck, whatever you decide.
