  1. Hello fellow cruisers! Our cruise on the Celebrity Infinity ends in Ravenna in the early morning of July 1st, and I was hoping that some of you could recommend a tour company that will take us to see the sites of Ravenna before heading to Venice Airport later in the day. We are a group of 11, including 3 seniors with mobility issues. Thank you in advance for your insight and recommendations!

  2. Hello fellow cruisers! I was supposed to take a cruise on the Infinity before the pandemic happened and, at that time, the ship docked in Venice at the end of the cruise. I just now realized my cruise in July this year ends in Ravenna, which is 2 1/2 hours away from Venice, and I've already booked flights leaving Marco Polo Airport at 11:40AM to go to Nice. I am in Concierge class, so I believe that I have priority disembarkation, and the ship arrives in port at 6AM. Will I be OK to make my flight (EasyJet) if I book a private transfer? Has anyone done this recently?

Thanks for any insight you can provide me!

  3. Hello all! I have friends on a flight arriving in Copenhagen at 8:30AM on September 10th, and they will be sailing on the Getaway at 5PM at day. They would like to explore the city a bit, but wonder what to do with their suitcases. Would you have any recommendations?

Thanks in advance for sharing you knowledge and experiences!

  4. Agree with the OP about babies barely our of diapers allowed in the hot tubs. I'm not in agreement with that. Don't think I'll be using the hot tubs at the main pools anymore. Sigh.

Two instances came to mind when I read through this post:

1- Hot tub on the Breakaway, hubby and I step in and almost on a kid that was scuba diving at the bottom. Never saw him there because of the bubbles, and when he surfaced, he had a stream of snot coming out of one nostril. He must have been 9 or 10 years old. Needless to say, we didn't go back in the hot tubs during our cruise :(

2 - On MSC, the pool attendants were very thorough about no babies in the hot tubs, and this young couple kept bringing their baby in. Every time they were told to leave, they would get out, circle the pool area, and come right back in. We are talking about a baby in diapers here. Sweet little thing, but no thanks!

  5. Where does it say online on ncl where you will be docking and if you will be tendering, etc..? I haven't been able to find it and have been wondering the same for Roatan. Some on CC have said Getaway is too big for dock at Coxen Hole and that is why it tenders there.

    https://www.ncl.com/port-of-call/cruises-to-roatan

This is where I found the information on Roatan. You need to scroll down a bit.

NCL's information on all their cruise ports and whether they dock or tender can be found here:

    https://www.ncl.com/port-of-call

Although if the info they post is wrong from the get go, it won't be of much help!

  6. Sailing on the Getaway in June, and when I research the port of Roatan on the NCL website, it says "Port Name & Location, Mahogany Bay Cruise Center, Ship will DOCK at this port."

Can any recent NCL cruisers confirm this for me please? I thought Mahogany Bay was for Carnival and it's sister ships only? Thank you!

  7. Hello all: I am sorry if these questions have already been asked, but there are so many threads to go through at this point that I thought I'd ask straight-out:

1- I got a promotion when I booked my cruise on the Getaway, and have a dining package included in my rate. I've been making my restaurant reservations online, and was wondering how this worked out in the 'à la carte' pricing venues. Can we just order anything we want off the menu (except for beverages and items that have specified up-charges indicated directly on the menu)?

2- We are 3 in the stateroom, and I believe the package is supposed to be for 2 people. When I book reservations for 3 online, the total in my shopping cart is $0 for the 3 of us. Is this a glitch in the booking system?

3- Some restaurants only show tables for 2, 4 or 6... Do I book a 4 top, even if we are only 3, or do I need to call NCL?

4- The Illusionarium dinner show is not part of the package, correct? It doesn't show up in my dining choices. Is it worth the extra money?

5- Can I change any of my dining reservations online once they are made, or do I have to call NCL directly to make any adjustments?

Thank you all in advance for your assistance and advice!

  8. Million Dollar Quartet has replaced Legally Blonde on Getaway. Consider yourself lucky. It's an amazing show! I loved it so much that I might pay to see it again when I'm in Vegas next week.

Wow! Thanks for the fast response and the positive review! :) I will look forward to seeing this!

  9. I will be on the June 5th sailing of the Getaway with my family, and am currently booking our dinner and entertainment reservations for the week. Is Legally Blonde no longer presented on this ship? The show choices offered online are Million Dollar Quartet (free), Paint the Floor (free), Wine Lovers the musical (extra cost per person and Illusionarium (extra cost per person). Am I missing something? Thank you!

  10. It isn't just early sitting that doesn't have coffee served, neither sitting does.

LOL! we actually had quite a surprise the first night of our cruise when we politely asked for coffee and tea after our meal and were told 'that's not served here'. From then on, my hubby just went up to the buffet to satisfy his desire for a regular cup of post-dinner coffee :)

  11. I can't remember being in any restaurant anywhere in Europe where a carafe of iced water hasn't been put on the table free of charge.

I hear you! But I must say that every restaurant in Italy we had dinner at before our cruise charged for water during our meal, and we were never offered a carafe of tap water as an option.

  12. We sailed on the preziosa out of Venice at the end of June and were pleasantly surprised when we were given a coupon booklet for seven bottles of water at check-in (1 bottle per day, which we enjoyed at dinner. We had the choice of still or sparkling water). Apparently this is something that MSC does for its North American clients (we are from Canada and, like our US neighbors, are used to free and plentiful water with our meals in restaurants). This was a really nice gesture.

We had a great time on our cruise!

  13. We will be cruising on the Preziosa later this month and I was wondering whether we can purchase thermal spa passes for the duration of the cruise when we board the ship. If yes, could you advise me of the cost and whether you found it worthwhile?

    Thank you!

    Nicole

  14. Hello fellow cruisers! My husband, adult daughter and I will be cruising on the Preziosa in June and, being new to MSC, I have a few questions I am hoping some seasoned MSC cruisers may be able to answer. Thanks in advance for your help, and Happy New Year to all! :)

    1) Embarkation is in Venice. May I bring cans of our favorite mineral water onboard with us to enjoy in our cabin throughout the cruise, or is this a forbidden practice on MSC?

    2) I have pulled up my reservation on MSC's website, but cannot find an area where I can specify preferences such as bed configuration in our stateroom or table size preference, or even what the dinner times are. Am I missing something, or is this normal?

    Thanks again!

    Nicole

  15. Were you on the December 1 to 8 Royal Princess cruise? We just got off that cruise after a truly spectacular vacation (except for the tender trip back from Princess Cays, which was one hell of a bumpy ride, if you'll pardon my language). I will post a mini revue a bit later. We also purchased week long passes to the Enclave and used them every single day; just the smell of the place would put me in a happy frame of mind! And, true to promise when we purchased our passes, the place was never, ever crowded! :)

  16. Hello to my fellow cc members, and happy Thanksgiving to all who are celebrating tomorrow (I'm from Canada, so my 'thanks' were given last month!) :)

We are cruising on the Royal Princess this coming Sunday (Dec 1st), and never received an official notice by email, but read on these boards about Princess' new staggered boarding procedure at Port Everglades. Since we are on the Dolphin deck, we should be arriving for 1:30PM per those new instructions. Has this been enforced on any of the recent Royal cruises? We were planning on arriving at the terminal between 11:00AM and 11:30AM because we like to board as early as possible and have lunch on the ship to kick start our holiday, but won't do so if we are going to be forced to wait around for 2 hours until 'Dolphins' are allowed to board.

Any advice would be awesome! We are Gold members, so nothing fancy.

    Best,

    Nicole

  17. If my in laws wish to pick us up at Port Everglades at the end of our cruise on the Royal Princess next month, where would we meet them when we get off the ship? Can they drive right up to the area where the taxis and shuttles are waiting, or do we need to leave the port area in order to find them? Your help would be much appreciated!

    Nicole

  18. You can find Van Gogh Vodka Double Espresso and others at Total Wine in Ft. Lauderdale. Perhaps a taxi stop after disembarkation would be a better way to go.

    Lew

A great suggestion, thank you, but not an option for us as we are taking the Princess transfer back to Miami Airport right after the cruise.
