  1. We are sailing on the Seaside in 33 days. We are in a yacht club suite. I have a couple of questions for those of you with that experience.

How was the internet that is included with the suite ?

What spa amenities were included and what treatment would you recommend ? (both male and female)

What would you say was a can't miss thing to do ?

What would be your it's not worth the time to do ?

What was your experience with the butler/yacht club staff ?

Any tips or hacks you would recommend ?

Did you use the cabanas at the yacht club pool how do they work ?

Thanks in advance for your help. Cruise Critic has always been a great place to get the scoop on these kinds of questions. This site has saved me a bunch of time and money over the years . Rock on C.C.

The internet reception was pretty good when a friend of mine went last month. She used the app Periscope to show us places around the ship live. Really good video. We will be there in December.

On MSC Divina there was a dedicated elevator in the YC to spa. On Seaside the spa appears beautiful with hot and cold rooms.

If you like anything, tell your butler. He or She will fill your fridge with whateveryouwant! We received extra treats at night because we asked. We received different pillows because we asked. I wanted southern grits at BFast each morning and every morning they were there on the pool deck where we ate.

Please enjoy the solitude of the YC. There were so many open chairs on Sea days around the pool area that we were never closer than 5 chairs from anyone. The music in the YC lounge at nights is also something not to miss.

Unless you need real privacy, stay clear of cabanas. $149 sea day/$99 port day. there is plenty of room out there on the deck.

Your YC card can be beneficial. Drinks over entire ship are free and the bartenders are extra nice to you. The gelato is free to YC. The YC card also works in the front elevators quite uniquely. If you get on that front elevator and swipe your card to go to deck 18, which you must do to be able to select that floor from that elevator, it will bypass all other pushed buttons with the other people in the elevator. People will be a little upset that you bypassed their floor with your card.

Must Do: Let your butler know when you want to leave ship at port. He will escort you to the front of line. You paid big money to allow them to assist you.

The service is awesome. It starts at the curb at the White Tent where YC guests arrive, ushered past all lines, given special treatment and guided to YC lounge.

Please enjoy the ride. It is not a ship that tries to be "American". It is full of new experiences and the crew do a great job at helping you. Do the meet and mingle also. Order what you want.

Lastly, i am not sure about Seaside, but Divina had a dedicated area for YC in main theatre. Just ask.

  2. Scope stands for Periscope, which is an app that is available on Apple and Android devices. Those who do not have the app, can view the scopes through a computer. That is why I attached all the links. For those not on Periscope.

I am not sure why you are having trouble viewing it. I did click on a few of them and they seem to work fine for me. My daughter, who followed my blog through the week, also used the links to watch all the scopes, as she does not have the app.

My only other suggestion is to download the app on your device (it's free) and search for "LoveToCruise2002". From there you will be able to see a list of all the broadcasts by me, and watch it from there. I have not deleted any of them so they should be there. Or try clearing cookies and cache on your computer before clicking on the links and see if that helps.

I found your forum a few days ago. I was not on your rollcall. My wife and I have done the YC on Divina. Our experience was so awesome. We go on Seaside YC this December. Your livecast was awesome. I read almost every post. I enjoyed it a lot. Thanks for sacrificing your time for others enjoyment. I will now download the periscope app. Blessings to you.

  3. If it is truly 2 cruises balcony vs. one YC inside stateroom, then that is a hard question. The YC experience is really over the top with awesome service from the crew and staff. From personal experience I would choose Yacht Club. However, if the balcony is really important to you maybe that should be your determining factor. I will give you food for thought. When we visited the pool deck area while in YC, it was not a consideration to find an open place, but it was more like - do i want to be 10 or 15 seats away from the closest person. The area is huge and so few people. Finding quiet time was very easy. This was in addition to all the butler service you receive. This is just food for thought.

  4. Thank you for the help. If any one has any thing else I should know or any tips I would live it!

My wife and I went on Divina last May. A friend told me about the YC. I pulled the trigger and paid for the yacht club for what I would have paid for the normal suite on RCI. I wasn't disappointed. I am not a picky person by any means. The service in the YC was very nice. I know you are not in the YC yet. ???

So I would like to give you what I observed while onboard.

    1. MSC does NOT try to be an American Experience. Other cruise lines caters to that.

It is not comparable because their paradigm is not like American cruise lines.

    2. MSC will have many nationalities onboard.

    3. The ships are very elegant .

    4. Service is pretty good.

    5. The buffet can get crowded.

    6. The food can be Euro style, but with an American twist.

    7. I would have guessed that more than 50% of passengers did not have English as primary Language.

    8. Based only on my experience, MSC tries very hard to make your cruise wonderful.

    9. My internet was awful. (BTW I didn't cruise to play on internet)

    10. The photo package is worth it.

    11. Almost every head of department came to our Meet and Mingle and talked to us personally.

    12. Do the "Status Match" program to get better deal.

    13. If you are a military vet, they give you ten percent discount on fare.

If you are considering the YC, it comes with a great deal of perks. I could let you know these later, if you like. I am returning May 2018 to Seaside, booked while onboard.

I hope these help and these are just my opinions/observations.

  5. This mysterious charge at some bar has happened to me on several cruises. All of mine have always been corrected. I did notice on my last two RCI cruises that the servers or bartenders were no longer using folio #'s to charge me. I believe this started on Empress in October 2016. I did ask a bartender if he wanted my folio # and he said too many mistakes have been made and on Empress they were not allowed to use folio # anymore. I am not sure this is fleet wide but it is showing a comprehension by some cruise lines acknowledging a problem.

  6. Just returned from St. Marteen. We walked down the main shopping area and saw a van which had a wooden sign in front window which read "Maho Beach". We waved it down, and rode public "bus" to traffic circle just by Maho beach, cost was $2 a person. Sweet. After spending time there, we walked back to traffic circle area and within two minutes a public bus/van "Phillipsburg" in window. $2 back, SWEET!! Some people think taxi is better for $30. Not me.

  7. I was browsing everyone`s view of the Carnival steakhouse from others and i saw this thread and i thought i would do a more recent review. We traveled on the Valor in March 13, and we took advantage of the free bottle of wine on the first night of the cruise booking the Steakhouse. I enjoy my wife`s company and not always with eight other people at our table. So when we go to the Steakhouse it is much more intimate. The steak sure tasted prime cut. The service is impeccable. You receive an appetizer, salad, entre, dessert at your seating. We enjoyed it so much, we went again during that seven day cruise. I would do it again. I would do the chef's table again also. These do add to your cruise experience. It is extra cost to your cruise. You can eat in the MDR and get good food and service. I enjoy the ambience.
